Preach to your fellow clansman that created this thread. You people think about yoruba all day, no wonder you have to forge results and NYSC certificates to gain employment. Too much fugazi activities coming out of your region.

The itshekiri and Urhobo have yoruba origin, same with Benin and Ijaws living in these areas. I have seen igbo speaking yoruba in the east to deceive other igbos who have not gone to southwest before.
Your iberiberism is top notch grin

You are one of the people in dire need of this preaching

You are exactly what you preach against
Whatever, I don’t care what you think of me.

As far as I’m concerned, I fight back, even if I have to go on the offensive, I will! Till all enemies of Yorubas are defeated gba beh!

After English language and pidgin language, what Language Is Most Spoken In Southern Nigeria and the states where they are spoken?
On a head count how many southern residents speak Yoruba compared to another language?

SW speak Yoruba

Igbo in Lagos speaks Yoruba

Other SSners in Lagos speak Yoruba

Igbo in other SW states speak Yoruba.

Foreigners residing in SW speak Yoruba

Beremx and princeoflagos and other Igbo nairalanders speak Yoruba

Ilaje and Ijaw outside SW speak Yoruba

80% of Igbo leaders speak Yoruba
having lived or schooled in SW

Every Southern person who listens to Afrobeat speaks Yoruba.

Most slangs adapted into speech today emanates from Yoruba. e.g 'soro soke'

How do you now proof to them that you’ve been to Lagos?

In another news, Yoruba is a language that is bigger than Africa. Even in Nigeria, you have Yoruba speakers in Kwara, Kogi, and Niger who run into several millions.

In Africa, you have countries that speak Yoruba. In South America, you have countries that speak Yoruba, and etc.

Igbo should go and compete with Ijaws. Yoruba language is bigger than Africa.
every language is important to those who speak it. No language is greater than the other. In fact, it is advisable for Nigerians to learn other languages apart from their mother tongue. At least I can boast of speaking Yoruba fluently and a little bit of Hausa.
You should learn other nigerian languages too to help you integrate with other Nigerians

Edo North in Igarra area.

I remember back then when I went for field trip in my uni to Igarra. Most of the older people there still speak Yoruba.

I love that place and scenery of that town.

If Yoruba is bigger than Africa then it automatically means Yoruba is bigger than Egyptians and Ethiopians.

We both know that the Egyptians are known in every country of the world but Yorubas are known mostly inside Nigeria. So therefore, Yoruba can't be bigger than Egyptians.

So you are comparing a region wih about 30 million people with a region of 50 million people and you think Igbo language is widely spoken throughout the South
I have seen a couple of Igbo people speak yoruba flunently, I havent seen so many yoruba people who speak Igbo fluently, if there is, then its very strange unlike okoro and chukudis speaking Yoruba like its nothing!
Ezeama400:
At the topic, the most spoken language in Southern Nigeria is pidgin language, spoken by majority of southerners, then English langue then followed by Igbo language spoken in 7 states and beyond, then Yoruba llanguage spoken in five core Yoruba states.

I created this thread in reaction to those that think they can catch up with Igbos in language spread by adopting their local language in Alausa..

This is one of the reason that gave rise to mid West agitation in 60's where they exhibited their bigotry with archaic and ridiculous law

Re: What Language Is Most Spoken In Southern Nigeria After English & Pidgin Language by Styluss: 3:34pm On Jul 12, 2023
This is your answer OP.
The remaining regions speak Igbo, efik, ibibio, tiv, igala, ebira and so on. Do you need to compare anymore? SW is a region of not less than 50 million people btw
