Styluss:Why did you add half part of Edo & Delta state to the southwest zone? Do they speak Yoruba? |
| Re: What Language Is Most Spoken In Southern Nigeria After English & Pidgin Language by Styluss: 4:58pm On Jul 12, 2023 |
Yes, some parts of edo and delta speaks and understands yoruba, It's just a pictoral representation. it dosent change the fact that there are Yoruba speakers in Kwara, Kogi, Edo and Delta. Fira09: |

Because of some of the Ace musicians who has decided to implant Yoruba dialect in their songs and Lagos state influence being the state which is predominantly Yoruba people....Yoruba language has been exported to.differnt part country and the continent...i was in Canada when one Oyinbo was singing Asake song which is more of.Yoruba language.... Japa Slogan is Yoruba language slogan.... |

Don't mind them, Yoruba language that is Nigerias National anthem. Anything Afro beat is Yoruba Language Even non yoruba artists must incorporate Yoruba to sell. The likes of Rema, Tu face, Burna, Omahlay, Buju etc had to use Yoruba to sell and be known. blabulu2000: |

Yoruba for sure. More Igbos can speak Yoruba than Yorubas speak Igbo. |
| Re: What Language Is Most Spoken In Southern Nigeria After English & Pidgin Language by Abagworo(m): 5:31pm On Jul 12, 2023 |
Styluss:Oga is Igbo not Yoruba. |
| Re: What Language Is Most Spoken In Southern Nigeria After English & Pidgin Language by Abagworo(m): 5:37pm On Jul 12, 2023 |
Styluss:Every artist mixes languages including foreign ones like Twi and Swahili. Rema's 1st song Dumebi is Igbo , Burnaboy's Odogwu is Igbo, Omah Lay uses more Igbo same with Tuface and others. Being able to speak a language means ability to relatively communicate in the given language not infusing of words. |

Can you prove this? These are core Yoruba words Oga - Master / Boss Oga - Chameleon Oga - Tall Ogaa - be deceived Abagworo: |

Ttalk:You got it wrong . Igbos are natural linguists hence have the ability to be multilingual than Yoruba. I for example despite never living or schooling in North or Southwest can speak Hausa and Yoruba(though not so fluently) just by mere interaction with few I've encountered. I can as well speak Igbo, Ikwerre and Etche fluently. |

Styluss:Oga as master is an Igbo thing borrowed by Yoruba. Yorubas use more of Baba than Oga but languages do grow and you as a newer generation now believes it's original . Wahala too isn't Yoruba but borrowed from Afro-Asiatic but it has so eaten deep that I don't even know the alternative. It's same way some Igbos now think gan is an Igbo word whereas the original word is kponkwem. |

Why do you have to live in Denial? Tuface Only me is typical yoruba song, Psqure, Rema, Buju and most of None yoruba artists have in different occassions speak Yoruba in their music. I cant say thesame for Yoruba artists speaking Igbo or Ibibio convincingly in their songs. You can deny it as much as you can, but you and I know the reality Abagworo: |

It's Nigerian pigin in Benin City. This is followed by my Bini language. The rest in their order of popularity are: Igbo (spoken in every street by fulltime hustlers in every street), Urhobo/Itshekiri (our brothers from Delta are many here), Hausa/Fulani (Aduwawa/Lucky Way where northerners dominate other visitors), and Yoruba (strictly spoken meat sellers at slaughter, and some brothels by female hustlers). |

SwissMass:You mean understand Yoruba right? To an extent. I was born and brought up in Lagos, actually spent the first 8 years of my life in Ijora, Badia and still residing in Lagos, but I can't speak Yoruba to save my life 😂. That's because you easily get by with other languages. I agree with other South West states since Yoruba is the primary the medium of exchange. However, Lagos has its peculiarities. |
