Your candid advise is needed.

His wife got a job in the UK which pays her about £30,000/ annum. Husband will be going with the wife along with thier 3months old baby as a dependent. How do you think this man can cope nursing thier baby for God knows how long before he gets something doing.

On a second thought he will rather let the wife go while he stays back with the baby in Nigeria managing his business. He's not doing do bad in Nigeria.

My people what's the best option he should take that would favour him and his family?.

He should think about the picture he has for his family. If it is one in unity irrespective of location or if he is comfortable with the parents living in different geographical locations. He needs put many things in perspective such as the cost of daycare if the child will be attending one, the chances of him getting a remote job, his business prospects in Nigeria, and most importantly, weigh the pros and cons of living in the UK vs living in Nigeria.

whatever this couple does, they should do it AS A FAMILY... so if she goes to UK, everyone goes... and if he wants to stay back in Nigeria then EVERYONE STAYS BACK IN NIGERIA!

3 months old baby ?! shocked
Is that baby not meant to be on exclusive breast milk? Therefore, the baby should be wherever the mama is.

Is it a 9a.m to 5p.m job or a rota of day and night shifts?

One thing is a FACT, she can't arrive the UK to start a job with a 3 months old baby, not even with the husband, dem go suffer!

She comes alone, she can easily get a room in a shared house within a week of arrival. She works for 3-4 months to save funds, so she can rent a 2 bedroom flat while she files for her husband and their baby after making sure her employer would allow her to briefly travel to Nigeria, to return with her husband and baby.

Their mothers and sisters can support in taking care of the baby, pending when the baby's mother comes to take him/her.

If the job is going to be 9a.m to 5p.m, the husband would baby sit their baby till his wife gets back from work, he can then leave for his night shift job and return in the morning to take over child care as wifey leaves for work.....it is not going to be an easy ride and that is for sure!

The alternative of getting a nanny here in the UK is disastrous because nanny will have to be paid at least £10 per hour while madam will be earning about £15 per hour at work ....so it makes no sense.

You've not included in your post the nature of work the wife is going to do. Meanwhile, £2,500 per month is too small to keep a family of three. By the way, I won't support anything that separate the husband from the wife.

Finally, I won't approve this move. It's going to be a journey of struggle, especially for the man that's going to take care of their baby at home in the interim.

Can he cope with a woman being in charge?

That alone should inform his decision.

Now he is seeing Euro and it is big. When woman show him shege na nairaland here we go dey for the next story.

How my wife I sponsored abroad turned against me.
How I was thrown out of the house by the woman I sponsored abroad.

My own be say I have never seen a woman in charge and the man happy.

I have seen countless happy wives.

Maybe yours is different.

Abroad dey turn innocent woman to feminist real quick.

Before you know she go tell you say na your duty as you dey jobless

Option A certainly. No brainer.
Re: Advice To A Father by ednut1(m): 7:13pm On Jul 13, 2023
this one hard o. From this i guess the man is a business person without skills in indemand occupations like medicine, nursing, tech and consulting. So na mostly hustle jobs he will see . With night shift being his likely option because he will baby sit during the day and go hustle at night. Daycare is very expensive too abroad. Leaving a 3 months old baby behind in Nigeria self no go easy. If her mom is still alive let her follow to be doing nanny/ omugwo while the husband figures what good job or skill he can do. Can be visiting them.

£30k is not a lot for a family with an infant.

Process your documents and you can land with them. Then come back with the infant while your wife get settled and understand the new environment. Hopefully within 1 month, you can reunite your baby with her mother.

While you are back in Nigeria , you can also start thinking what you want to do in the UK and start prepping for it. If it's certification, networking, course, you can start while in Nigeria.

Ultimately, have a plan for all of you to be together either in Nigeria or the UK within 1 year.

Also note that there's a chance your wife may not want to relocate back to Nigeria. You are the only one that can decide how to proceed in such case.

Godspeed

With a competent business manager like me, we can automate some of his Nigerian business using Microsoft powerapps platforms, while he enjoys family time in the UK and subsequently extend a branch in the UK so that while his wife's busy with work he wouldn't be bored cos both can adequately contribute to family & earnings...win-win grin

We are in a very serious era of leaving the country the best way we can. Nobody wants to stay in Nigeria again, and the population of those traveling out is on the increase. Wives are leaving their husband to get greener pastures, men are not committed in relationships because they can leave sooner or rather than later.

It’s seems this will not come to an end.

£2,500 monthly? Abeg that money is too small joor.
What of accommodation? Uk house is too damn expensive and their renting fee is per week.
But notwithstanding I will still advise you to go.
Re: Advice To A Father by WeirdAlien: 7:16pm On Jul 13, 2023
Going to UK with 3 months baby - that man might not be able to do any full-time jobs for 2-3 years.
Why? Crèches and nurseries are very expensive. If you decide to drop your baby and go to work, the money you'll pay at the crèche will almost match the money you'll make at work. So it's pointless.
At 3 years you get 15 hours weekly free care.

Staying in Nigeria with a 3 months old baby too is not any easy thing. The child will spend its early years in the hands of crèche carers, and will grow up not really knowing its mother.
Besides, that seems like a young family, it's unhealthy to stay that far apart at the moment. Not to mention UK immigration laws might change before the man eventually decides to join her - it could get tough.

They could travel to UK together, the man can take up night jobs a few times a week and/or do weekends, while the wife does day shift. The wife won't be at work 24/7 so they can find a way to work out their schedules.

£30k yearly is not bad for a small family, but with little contribution from the man doing part-time, they will do fine, provided they won't be living in London - that city is damn expensive, and busy like Lagos.
