phemmyfour:While that might hold for older Nigerians, I beg to differ that it applies to Nigerians below 30 years. Also, I paid attention to when they entered university and looked at the name of schools attended, grade attained, course studied etc. |

babyfaceafrica:No, it does not. Your question should be posed to those who say the opposite. I never doubt the ability of first class graduates from public universities, why should I do the same with private universities that are reputable? |

Unperturbedpota:I agree. People don interrupt me when speaking because I talk too much. But what they've never accused me of is going off-point because I am very interesting person to discuss with. Also, the consistent aspect in my garrulousness is speaking with facts. I make sure my points are fact based and grounded in research publications. Additionally, I only talk too much on topics I am versed in. For instance, you will never catch me talk when movies are discussed. Sorry, I know I just talked too much. Kuyaresit |

Hezzyluv:You aren’t shifting your certificate. Your knowledge helps you to develop a business startup and grow it. That requires a whole lot of intelligence. It is easier for educated folks to build a corporation with systems and processes to attract workers. How do you think jobs are created? |

wunmi590:That is what I want to find answers to. Those who graduated as the best either in their departments or universities, what were their WASSCE grades when juxtaposed with their JAMB scores? Do WASSCE performers keep the consistency to JAMB? Do high JAMB achievers attain excellent grades in WASSCE? Do these high JAMB scorers graduate with a first class? Ultimately, where are they presently? |

This your research means engineering remains most highly intelligent and brilliant students at JAMB/WAEC level despite dealing with harder subject combinations even a bit higher than that of medicine; many brilliant (first five/six) students you listed here on yearly basis end up studying engineering and related courses like computer and cyber security. This suggest that engineering should be rebranded and restructured for more practical oriented future similar to how medicine is structured because it handles human beings if Nigeria dosn't want to be loosing her best brains in engineering after graduation. It also shows that science students remains most brilliant minds at waec/jamb levels than their counterpart at secondary school levels. |

Karlifate:It's not true. I have always been top of my class since Primary school untill Junior Sec. School where I met a girl who just too bright. Although I was playful and not too serious with studies. Though, from my senior school till I graduated from the University, I haven't met anyone who I could say did better than me in all the classes. WAEC and JAMB are not really a good measure. I have seen students with high JAMB score but were not that brilliant as they thought they were. Some of them has A's and B's in their WAEC, but when you get closer to them, you realize that they are gamblers who depends on cramming. Probably they spent too much on JAMB past questions to have emerged successfully in the exam. My WAEC and JAMB were not really good, but that does not mean I or another fellow like me cannot beat anyone of those guys with high scores to the game. I will end this by reminding you about the 2019 law school exam. A 2:1 BABCOCK student was the best student in that exam. Now where were the first class students and BGS from the rest of other reputable universities? Now, I hope you get the point. |

sreamsense:Science courses are harder than art/social science disciplines. The most brilliant students are those in STEM. That is a global phenomenon. Societal problems, at least physically are solved using scientific methods, discoveries and inventions. Unfortunately, Nigeria is too fractured for these solutions to be implemented properly. Ethnically heteregnous countries tend to be poor in the long term. |

I wrote my one and only JAMB exam in 2014 and I scored 229 and I got an admission into a Mass Communication dept in one of the best State universities that same year. Regardless this post made me more proud of that little success because it can be deduced here that that my score was not a small score (229) so to say inasmuch as the highest mark was 297. That shows the exam tough that year. |
COMMENTARY: One of the reasons I did this compilation is to know what were/are the trajectories of exceptionally brilliant students who made exploits nationwide. It is an area I am very passionate about. For instance, does a high WASSCE score mean the person can/will attain a high JAMB score? Consider Seunara Arotiba, currently a medical student at UI, was the best WAEC candidate in 2018 with 8As, scored 305 in JAMB. Meanwhile, Obi-Obuoha Abiamamela scored 354 and came third in WAEC rankings (https://twitter.com/JOwoleke/status/1197984452573646849?s=20). Another was Adeagbo Michelle Oluwabukunmi who came second in WAEC rankings in the same 2018, but probably never wrote UTME. Currently a medical student at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. He was a student of Chrisland High School. Yet another is Victory Yinka-Banjo who in 2020 made waves after attaining 9As in her WASSCE, but had 335 in her UTME. She is currently a sophomore studying Computer Science and Molecular Biology at MIT, USA: https://www.linkedin.com/in/victory-yinka-banjo/ OP, many readers will not fully understand or appreciate that pain you have put in into this research. I commend you. It is worthy read. |

Really nice, thought provoking and interesting write-up. Couldn’t help but read every line. God bless you Op, for the enlightenment. Met a post-doc student days back, who happens to be a scientist; and he told me “Covenant university is the best university in Nigeria”. Thanks for reiterating that to my consciousness. Make I double my hustle for my unborn children… 🙏🤲 |

I think those who did a combo of Maths, Physics, chemistry should be placed in a diff category. Maths and Physics are 2 calculation heavy subjects that are hard to score really high within the time allotted. That is why there are always few engineering candidates in the top list as against law and medicine. Law should not even come in here cos their jamb subjects are way cheaper than even accounting. During my time, Maths was not mandatory for law or medicine...I dont know if that has changed |

Cashio:u wrote Jamb 2015 with CBT does not meant it started 2015. And they did not scrap PPT immediately CBT started. CBT was first introduced in 2013 alongside PPT, then you have the option to choose between CBT and PPT. In 2015 PPT was scraped and 100% Fully CBT was introduced. Thank you |

Elliotwaveforec:I am just curious why it's really difficult for students to have high score in English. Another question is why are the best scores always gotten by science students? I have never seen an art student having the highest score. |
