LinkedIn isn't a reliable source to get info about Nigerians. Some would have dropped first/surname and adopted another. Except you are sure about the face, you might reading out a profile of a different personality.

I saw this thread (https://www.nairaland.com/7752744/meet-highest-jamb-scorers-last) about the top scorers in JAMB in a decade, and as an admirer of academic excellence, I thought about where these scholars are today. The mini-research brought about interesting results, which I explained after the compilation.

Officially known as UTME, but popularly known as JAMB, the organising body. It is the exam Nigerian students write to gain admission into universities nationwide. For easy understanding, both JAMB and UTME will be used interchangeably. I could not find anything for some people, so it is stated as “nothing was found”. In few cases, I was not sure, so no definitive statement was stated. If you know such persons, kindly comment.

Based on your question, I still believe WAEC is a better yard stick to judge student brilliant prowess, because majority of these JAMB centre are miracle centre..

I'm not saying all of the JAMB candidates are into it, but I will also go for a better WAEC than a JAMB, JAMB is just four subject, while WAEC is nine subject, which comprises of both practical, theory and objective...

Some of my friend we graduated together never had a better JAMB score, but their. WAEC results were superb, they graduated 🎓 as the best student in our class

It's not true. I have always been top of my class since Primary school untill Junior Sec. School where I met a girl who just too bright. Although I was playful and not too serious with studies.

Though, from my senior school till I graduated from the University, I haven't met anyone who I could say did better than me in all the classes.

WAEC and JAMB are not really a good measure. I have seen students with high JAMB score but were not that brilliant as they thought they were. Some of them has A's and B's in their WAEC, but when you get closer to them, you realize that they are gamblers who depends on cramming. Probably they spent too much on JAMB past questions to have emerged successfully in the exam.

My WAEC and JAMB were not really good, but that does not mean I or another fellow like me cannot beat anyone of those guys with high scores to the game.

I will end this by reminding you about the 2019 law school exam. A 2:1 BABCOCK student was the best student in that exam. Now where were the first class students and BGS from the rest of other reputable universities? Now, I hope you get the point.

Nigerians did not get more intelligent in 2015. I think the result outcome started getting better from 2015 because of the introduction of computer based tests in place of the traditional ppt tests which were used in the previous years.
I think the computer based test and result marking corrected so many errors previously experienced during the years of Paper/pencil test.
Myself as a case study, I wrote jamb five times from 2011 to 2015 and my results were always poor between 2011 and 2014, except 2012 when I scored 212 despite being so sure I should have scored better.
Then in 2015, the CBT was introduced and the system changed and boom, I scored 253 despite scoring 191 the year before. This particular incident made it sure to me that something was wrong with the PPT marking system or that the individuals marking the scripts were totally incompetent because, how can I, after taking the first position in my class almost throughout my primary and secondary years be scoring 178, 176, 191, and 212 in jamb. Yes something was wrong and they corrected that with the introduction of CBT and that’s why you see students going as high is over 300.

This your research means engineering remains most highly intelligent and brilliant students at JAMB/WAEC level despite dealing with harder subject combinations even a bit higher than that of medicine; many brilliant (first five/six) students you listed here on yearly basis end up studying engineering and related courses like computer and cyber security. This suggest that engineering should be rebranded and restructured for more practical oriented future similar to how medicine is structured because it handles human beings if Nigeria dosn't want to be loosing her best brains in engineering after graduation.

It also shows that science students remains most brilliant minds at waec/jamb levels than their counterpart at secondary school levels.

Many of these students attended the best private secondary schools in Nigeria. I'm yet to see a public secondry sch student who scores above 250 in jamb. Most of them are either into yahoo or prostitution.

Can you do a study on the highest score any of these best students had in English. I had an argument that no one ever got above 80% in English. Even this year, the four best had less than 70% in English.

One of the reasons I did this compilation is to know what were/are the trajectories of exceptionally brilliant students who made exploits nationwide. It is an area I am very passionate about. For instance, does a high WASSCE score mean the person can/will attain a high JAMB score? Consider Seunara Arotiba, currently a medical student at UI, was the best WAEC candidate in 2018 with 8As, scored 305 in JAMB. Meanwhile, Obi-Obuoha Abiamamela scored 354 and came third in WAEC rankings (https://twitter.com/JOwoleke/status/1197984452573646849?s=20).

Another was Adeagbo Michelle Oluwabukunmi who came second in WAEC rankings in the same 2018, but probably never wrote UTME. Currently a medical student at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. He was a student of Chrisland High School.

Yet another is Victory Yinka-Banjo who in 2020 made waves after attaining 9As in her WASSCE, but had 335 in her UTME. She is currently a sophomore studying Computer Science and Molecular Biology at MIT, USA: https://www.linkedin.com/in/victory-yinka-banjo/

Ayodele Dada Daniel, the 5.0 CGPA graduate of Psychology from UNILAG, what were his WASSCE grades? (He did enter via direct entry, so no JAMB). What about Aminat Yusuf, who graduated with a 5.0 CGPA in Law from LASU, what were her WASSCE grades? What did she score in JAMB? So, questions come to mind: are stellar WASSCE grades a prerequisite for a very high JAMB score (350+)? Which would you use to predict someone’s academic performance in the university, stellar grades in WASSCE or a very high JAMB score? Going forward, these are questions I seek answers to.

Waec body is highly compromised, miracle centers everywhere. Jamb still has high level of integrity.

CBT started in 2015 sir. I between jamb from 2011-2014 and they were all PPT. 2015 was the only time I wrote CBT jamb.
