Wema and Sterling banks.

Two financial institutions that Nigerian politicians and elites use to launder and embezzle unmentionable sums of tax payers' monies.

You'll hardly find or hear them in the news, they hardly declare profits or losses, you'll almost never find crowds of ordinary citizens in their banking halls, but they never go broke.

All this is useless if the CBN does not have very tight control over the banks. Their operations and policies must be in line with government and uniform.

As a former banker, FG must keep eyes on banks.

They are recklessly exchanging and settling FX at their discretion and that's what's pushing the FX price up. Banks must be stable and not compete with parallel market.

How much does CBN sell to banks. at what rate. why will anyone use their naira card abroad and banks are settling at almost N900

By end of year, Bank Execs will be smiling home with billions as profit at the expense of the masses.
If the supply exceeds demand, price must come down. If dollar keeps going up, it can simply mean that there are not enough dollars around and banks are just capitalising on the deficit to make money. The question now is what is the country doing to shore up its Forex supply?

That's how some of you people will just open your stinking mouths and be spilling rubbish with all confidence.
They ask you to substantiate your claims now,you would be stammering like a goat being taken to the slaughter.

How about their virtual cards?

Will it work also?
No. Virtual card is almost useless. I once used that of FBN and I realised it is useless in most cases. I couldn't even use it to activate my FBN app.

Wema and Sterling banks are patronised by common men. Wema was even a regional bank (SW) for many years before they were licensed to become national bank few years ago

Rate is the main thing.

What is the rate per $ ?
Not cheap. But again, you either want available dollar at market rate or subsidised one that's unavailable.

There's no where in my comment where I suggested that they're not patronised by ordinary Nigerians, is there?

Re: Naira Cards Are Back - Wema Bank by Revolva(m): 3:31pm On Jul 14, 2023
Still nonsense to me com.pared to my dollar debit card that is unlimited

Again its still the same rate with d dollar debit card so why d stress abeg
Re: Naira Cards Are Back - Wema Bank by grandstar(m):
I had already predicted this in a thread I started but I am surprised that it is taking this long for banks to get started.

I predicted that once the Naira is made flexible or floated, Naira debit cards would be able to make online dollar transactions again or limits increased. Gtb present limit is a lamentable $20.

Many other banks will soon join the bandwagon.
