The UK has definitely run out of ideas on how to improve their earnings. That's why they are turning to taxing immigrants.

By the way, I was just studying how countries around the world tax their people. I realise that the UK should be the highest in the world.

Honestly, I hail Nigerians who live in the UK. How can someone cope in a country where you can pay income tax of about 45% coming from a country where you pay peanuts in taxes?
You don't pay 45% on all the money.

It's for the betterment of their country; therefore, they are free to implement any law or policy they feel is best for them.

Our own responsibility is to task our government with making Nigeria a livable place for us, not to cry over what's going on in another country.

We are crying that the cost of attending school in the UK is too expensive, but when I checked, I saw that they never forced us to come to the UK to go to school. If you believe a UK visa is expensive or the income tax is too high, stay in your country or go somewhere else.

We need to stop crying over unnecessary things we don't have control over and ask our own government to make Nigeria a better place to live because this alone will discourage mass migration to Europe, Canada, the USA, and Australia.

You got it wrong because it is not 40 or 45% on the total income.

For example, if you make £50,000 at the end of the year, You will pay zero tax on the first 12570 you make and 20% on the next 37430, not 45%.

£12570 * free = 0
£37430 * 20% = £7486
The total tax you will pay on £50000 is £7486, which is like 15% of the £50000.

Those who make £12,570 or less will pay no tax.

I still maintain that anybody paying huge amount of money to "japa" to face uncertainty in the White man's land is a big fo0l and an irredemable slave..

Most of those Oyinbos are here in Nigeria setting up multi-million and multi-billion dollars investments for them to make profits (which they are making big time), but unreasonable and unintelligent Nigerians are selling off their homes and properties in Nigeria to pay for Visa, medicals and whatnot in a bid to run away from the most blessed nation on earth with abundant mineral and natural resources. It's so unfortunate.
Chinese have been stealing gold, precious stones etc. from us, yet the resources no gree finish.

Why will Tinubu be taxing when he knows very well that many percent of the people are jobless, and even most of them that are earning do earn peanut

Despite with all this increase in price of everything in Nigeria, I still sees companies posting jobs advertisement of 30k, 40k, 45k and 50k jobs online, because they know many percent of the people are jobless and many will surely still apply for the job and glady take the offer. Is that what u expect the citizens to be paying tax with?

The UK government don't tax people above what they earn, but Tinubu is currently taxing Nigerians above what they earn
. The uk tax people working so will any other sensible country. So tinubu will also tax workers not jobless people . Becaus their is nothing to tax dem on . But the tax is next to nothing.

UK is the easiest western country to migrate. That's the truth nd simple answer. U can enter UK with less than 5 million packaging. Admission into uk schools no get wahal at all.
UK is a case of at all at all, na him bad pass.

To attempt Canada relocation, u must have nothing less than 20 million in real cash in your account. The express entry score alone na die.

For Australia, the screening process is tedious and student visa application not too straightforward. Rejection rate is very high.

The only way to enter USA now is student visa. First u write SAT, GRE or GMAT, then get school admission which ain't easy. Finally u go and play Russian roulette at the American embassy. U need to see how people are bounced during visa interview. Everybody in the hall will know u've been rejected.
Don't even bother with USA visiting visa, the way dem go bounce u for embassy..shame sef go catch u.

Most European countries have language barriers, without learning the language u can't get good jobs and build a successful career. Most Nigerians in Europe eventually end up relocating to UK due to this issue of language barrier.

China and Russia is out of it. People travel so that they can send money home. Wages in those countries are nothing to write home about. Wetin u wan do with 300 dollars per month. U may live a good live in the countries but nothing else.

Pls don't advise Nigerians to travel to Japan or Singapore. They are not immigrant friendly towards Africans. U will end up wasting years stuck in a place without anything to show for it.

Arab gulf countries are actually a good option for professionals and career people. I'm surprised u didn't mention it.
Honestly, I would not have done this, but I have correct some misconceptions about the bold.

Japan: Easy to migrate to as a student. Way easier to become a naturalised citizen than any Western nation except Germany (due to recent changes(. Take it from me, I have read the laws in both English and Japanese. Also, in terms of jobs, it is better off other than medical-related areas. Learning the language is where the issue comes, but once you learn and abide by the rules, there would be no problem. However, I would not recommend it for a single black lady except if she intends to marry a man from her country. The dating opportunities for black women are very low.

Singapore: Don't migrate as a student, but a professional. Salaries are high. In fact, higher than in Japan. I think only Australia comes close across Asia. However, don't ever hope to become a citizen as it is almost impossible for a black person to be a permanent resident let alone naturalised citizen. Permanent residency and citizenship have racial quotas. Blacks have no historical connection to Singapore.

I already explained it here:

Gerrard59:
That is because all Asian countries are not the same. The opportunities for foreigners, regardless of race in say Malaysia aren't the same as opportunities for foreigners in say, Singapore. Yes, the work ethic is most Asian countries, especially those characterised with East Asian culture, can be tedious for non-natives. The koko is that the jobs are available.

Yes, I highly recommend STEM unless one is prepared to learn the language for at least a year before commencing studies if the course is non-STEM like a Gambian did. Even STEM has courses one should not touch, like nursing. I don't think patients will be comfortable with blacks attending them as nurses or psychologists - both of which require native fluency. However, skills will get you the job if the language knowledge is zero. My guy got a job with a salary equivalent of $5K per month because he knows artificial intelligence (his research is AI related). This guy does not know how to speak Japanese. I even speak better Japanese than he does. The interviewers even requested he introduce himself in Japanese, but he politely declined as he did not know how to speak the language. Mind you, before this offer, he had three offers waiting for him.

If I am to recommend Asian countries for Black Africans and courses in terms of employment opportunities, in order of ranking: Japan, Singapore, China and South Korea. The competition in Korea and China for jobs is fiercer, so one has to be very good at the skills and language. Singapore is a peculiar case as there are restrictions for foreigners to be employed there. The government scrutinises the university you graduate from and the quality of work experience as a foreigner seeking employment. Black African candidates would have to showcase their skills for a firm to leave Chinese, Indians, and Westerners to employ them. If you graduate from, say, the National University of Singapore, the chances are higher, but NUS is pricey for foreigners. Tuition fees mimic the equivalent in Harvard and Oxbridge. Scholarships are minimal for non-South East Asian citizens. If not because of the use of English, it should come last in my ranking as it is very tough for black Africans without specialist skills. The surest or easiest way is to be transferred from the European or American office to the Singapore branch. Note: an African American has it easier as getting a job in the US is easier and faster to get a transfer compared to a black African that is still on a working visa vs citizenship status for the African American.

Those countries are the ones with stable economies. The rest are still developing. So, don't mistake Vietnam for South Korea or the Philippines for Japan. I have met a Nigerian who did both BSc and MSc in Computer Science at a Vietnamese University but could not get a job until he got it in Japan. He has been here for seven years and does not know how to speak Japanese. I dare say I speak better Japanese than he does and can read Kanji better than him. But he works in a top tech firm in the country.

So, there you have it.

Since u sabi talk, why u nor about the people receiving 30k, 40k and 50k as salary. So with the increase in price of goods and commodities in this country, u will expect someone earning that low to happily pay tax abi?

Increase in electricity tariff, goods and commodities affects everyone whether be jobless or not, and it's because of tax they are paying that's why they are also increasing the prices.

I'm pretty sure Nigerians will start avoiding the UK, at least those for MSc.
the incentives for them are already wiped off. higher cost equivalent in naira, no dependent, increased visa cost and insurance.
why will anybody be willing to waste £45k for a masters degree in the UK when there are good alternatives like SE Asia, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Canada?
Let's stop pretending a majority of those who go to UK for masters are going there to study. It's an expensive means to an uncertain end.

What is your tax doing for you In your country's apart from been siphoned for govt for personal use. Or are u glorifying the 8k monthly for poor house hold as compensation for all the taxes in Nigeria.

In uk , its free health care and emergency care for all, free school till secondary level. Security and good roads.

What are they taxing you for In Nigeria. When you even have oil and other natural resources. Compare it with other oil producing nation and see where Nigeria is

What's the minimum wage in nigeria. Someone with minimum wage in uk can still save a minimum of 300 pounds per month after all taxes, and expenses. That's even more than your salary In Nigeria.
you just dey run your mouth here,u think is everybody dat is opportuned to dey earn dat way.

I just asked you some basic questions that u refused to answer realistically.

What is your tax doing for you in Nigeria... what has govt achieved with the tax.. we can't even refine our own crude oil or generate enough power for the whole country.

Go and check other oil producing nations and compare their GDP or quality of life of the citizens to Nigeria.

I will tell u again.. Uk doesn't have oil
But with the tax they can provide free health care ... I don't mean quack health care but first class , standard health and emergency care for the citizens free.
Free standard Education till secondary level
24hr electricity
Optimal security
Good roads

So what is your tax , oil revenue and subsidy revenue doing for the citizens of Nigeria... nothing
Now they want to share 8k for ur family for 1mth and you happy.

I never stated that the UK is not good. I agreed to the rest of the points you listed in the quoted post.

U can make over 100k in IT related fields in the UK, the perks are crazy...personal car, traveling around Europe.

Obviously, salaries are higher in the UK and certain parts of Europe like Switzerland. Japan, when compared to other developed countries, has low salaries but with a lower cost of living. She makes up in livability and safety. Your church colleague is likely an expert or PhD holder. The guy I mentioned is just a master's graduate. So apples to oranges. My issue is about where you stated both Japan and Singapore don't like African migrants (skilled as no one likes unskilled migrants). My stance is: it is not true. Your church colleague will earn a minimum of S$150K - S$180K should she migrate to Singapore and not less than Y10M per annum should she move to Japan. The reason I differentiated the purpose an African should have when migrating to either country.

We not talking about IT or highly skilled professionals, we just talking about semi skilled guy who wants to Japa.
Opportunities abound for such people in Japan, provided they learn the language, study relevant courses and abide by the country's rules. Singapore is a no for such people. I am not saying your entire post is a lie, but some aspects have to be corrected.
