I'm confused as to what status to choose in the EE form as I am separated from my wife. We didn't do any court wedding, we only did niikai and a certificate was issued by the Muslimclerics (Alfas). This is where the issue is; since the wedding wasn't binded by any legal means, and we are separated, I cannot provide any legal documents as the wedding wasn't done in the court. My question is,

1. what status is best to choose on the EE form ?
2. If I choose "legally separated" whicg is the truth and the IRCC asks for proof, what proof can I provide?


Please assist as this has been delaying me since cos I want to make sure I do the right thing from the start.

Since you were never legally married, you cannot be legally separated. Just put in Single and don’t complicate things for yourself.

For those trying to reach IRCC, here is a post I came across and since it worked for me, it could work for someone too. I got connected at once after trying it. Please make sure your V.O is not outside Canada before calling them for enquiries on your application. Enjoy!

How to call IRCC within a min.

Go to ur play store or Apple store, download an app called Viber. After confirming it, dial +1-800-267-6788

Calling hrs is between 8am and 4pm which is 12noon to 8pm Nigeria time at the moment.

They operate in such a way that before there client support can receive calls, it must be exactly 8am

So you'll call them like 3 mins to that 8am

When you call, you'll first press 1 to select English

You'll press 2 to be connected to IRCC and this period, they'll tell you that client support department is closed but never mind.... Continue

After that you'll be asked to press 1 to provide your UCI but press 2 that you don't have

It doesn't affect anything because once they pick you'll still provide your UCI again and you need not to waste time providing it again thereby taking more time you are spending on the call

So this period, you'll be asked to choose number again, you can take style to waste time by listening to the options so that the time would be like 1 min to 12noon. Your phone time

The next number you'll choose is after pressing 2 that you don't have UCI is 3

After that, the next number you'll press is 2

Then the last number to direct you to the agent is 0, the moment your time changes to 12 noon exactly, press 0

Infact, the call won't spend 5 seconds before an agent will pick

If you missed this time, you can try it later but what they'll tell you is that there are plenty people on queue. You have to call back later and if you are lucky to be connected, get ready to wait for as long as 1hr if at all an agent picks it

You are applying to a country where it is normal for people to have kids without multiple men or women without being married. In your case you were married, the proof of marriage are you Nikkai documents

to travel with your children you need the consent of your wife who is probably still bearing your surname. Plus the birth certificate of the children has her name there. So father and mother will have same surname, and you say you were never married 😆.

I submitted directly to Accra VFS and it got there 20th June.
They stalled for one week and then sent it to IRCC for processing 28th June.
Counterfoil was generated July 12th and I got my passport back July 20th.

Please is there anyone here who has completed their WES verification here from Unilorin, I need some help and your plug. I can see on WES website that the transcript is to be sent electronically but the person who wants to help me said the process is different that the transcript will be sent through a courier and WES is gonna send an email to Unilorin for Verification, which means I'm gonna pay for both transcript and Verification separately.

I'm a bit confused about the process as what i can see on WES website is different from the process in unilorin. I'd really appreciate it if i can talk to anyone who's done this from Unilorin abeg

Kenya might be your best bet. Accra is quite unpredictable for now. Could be 4 weeks, could be 7weeks.

I see your points here. Like I said earlier, we were married before but no legal documents backing it up as the wedding didn't involve court, it's only traditional and/religious. Now we're separated. Obviously, no legal documents to back that up either since the wedding didn't take place in court.

There's no "separated" except "legally separated/Divorce" in the EE form. This is where the whole thing is dicey, I am confused as to the best to select for my case.

Note that I am not travelling with the 2 kids yet, nobody is accompanying me but I have to declare them

So what's your suggestion here please?
