There are a multitude of Nigerians that can easily trace their roots back to the top of their family tree. And all their forefathers ate bushmeat, including Mr. Professor’s forebears! No one in my village has an ancestor that died of anthrax poisoning after consuming a healthy plate of well sauced bushmeat in the past, so who kon spray dem the anthrax today, ni ko’wai?? Unless the gods of the land have a bone to pick with you, omoh chop life! grin

What if we autoclave the meat. This way we can still eat the meat while killing the bacillus anthracis. But ofcourse who even has autoclave at home

I heard anthrax has to be boiled for 24 hrs. The thing has strong head. It's not the first organism to resist heat though.

lol. Water can only reach 100°c which is the highest point of heat it can take via cooking. Some organism porse and cells can survive even at 100°c. Some cells can go as high as 200°c and bacillus is one of them. That's why we use autoclave to kill such organisms. An autoclave is a machine which reaches the boiling point of water at a remarkable 120°c, but has a pressure if of 121 psi. Pushing the pressure into the cells of this bacteria 15times disintegrating them. Boiling water is not the best source to complete kill a bacteria

No point boiling for 24hrs, you still achieve the same boiling point. Water can never go above 100 desgrees. Boiling for 24hrs is just wasting gas

Don't know where some of these people get their own knowledge.
Heating for 105⁰C for some 20mins or higher for less minutes is clearly said to kill the bacteria spores.
Even commonsense should tell anyone that any micro organism exposed to very high heat for long will get degraded.

Anthrax forms spores (more like protective coating) that prevents them from getting destroyed by your regular boiling heat. But when incinated they burn into ashes hence destroyed.

There are Bacteria that actually have very high temperature as their Normal Floral (far above 100°C). They are classified as Thermophilic bacteria.
There are also sporeformers that their spores can withstand above 100°temp.
Bacillus is a sporeformer but I'm not sure it's spores can withstand above100°C.
