Awesome piece.

Do you also have any advice for those of us who are also struggling with ehailing but aren't graduates or weren't fortunate enough to attend a university?

A carpenter, welder, painter can be shortlisted in shortage skill list of countries like Canada, UK and Australia...I have never seen a driver listed....you understand what that guy meant....make Una dey try understand peoples point...than always countering it....some skills are over supplied and driving is one of the over supplied skill..... A carpenter can hit a jackpot of contract from government, that goes to a welder or painter.....

Wrong on the bolded above.

Not up to a year ago the UK was still advertising for drivers to come from overseas to fill up their shortages after their brexit palava. If you didn't see such adds I'm sure others did.

Now you could come up with a technicality that it was strictly truck & trailer drivers that were needed but the fact forever remains that driving is a skill period.

And we have truck and trailer drivers here I guess.....

And who said driving is not a skill....I was only pointing you to the economics of demand and supply when it comes to skills...even some educational given certificate demand is low compared to others....

The bottom line is what dapotemi advised is very useful and yet you were still looking for a hole...

Dapotemi and everybody has been saying the same thing but in different ways I guess, dapotemi believes driving full time doesn’t worth it but still has its benefits while doing it part time with a full time salary job, which is true but to me if the full time jobs pays to one’s satisfaction which one can gather money from to pursue one’s dreams, pearl, cheerful and others believes driving full time pays better and one can gather money from it to pursue the dreams we all have in terms of maybe creating a business for one’s self or na to japa but feels we can hardly get a full time salary job that can gives us these.

I don't module myself with what pays or not...everyone life different and one person can't use his own template to advice anyone...my response on the conversation....was the getting a skill part...when he asked what can someone who has no education do....

If you drive full time and it works for you...Good for you.....if you drive part time and it works for you ...Good for you ....

Learning a skill is global advice anyone can key into...as it can open to your door of opportunity.

If you have the money and you know your brain can still accommodate knowledge, go and learn data analysis…

Right now, I'm facing a setback because of the hire purchase I'm involved in. Once I finish paying it off, I'll focus all my energy on developing my tech skills.

Driving full time isn’t advisable cox at a certain age, you won’t be able to drive anymore, so tell me, what will someone do when you’re unable to drive anymore…

But when you have a skill, you can still put it into use when you age….

Trust me, if the salary is big, d person will not be doing Uber on d side.
I can't even remember d last time I woke up by 5am to go and work except when I am pursuing my other businesses and trying to beat traffic.
I know what I want in life, and ehailing is giving it to me easily. I left paid employment, I resigned with my hands no be say anything happen. The total amount of ajo I do a week is more than 100k.
I don't answer to anybody, write query when I am late or get sent on errands that they can kidnap me, I don't wait for oga to leave office before I go home, I am in control of my life.
I can sleep at home for two weeks in a month and still make 2times the salary of a Lagos big boy.
Every endeavour has its own advantages and disadvantages, let's do whatever pays us, whatever is working for us and whatever makes us fulfilled and happy.
I will never pull down any hussle, whether corporate job or business, others should learn to do same.

U can still learn your skills, work and pay for your car, deprive yourself and work hard today towards achieving what u really want. People work and school at thesame time, don't let anything limit u. Time waits for no one.

Good morning boss? When I read Dapotemi’s Post last night, the will to ask some questions entered my body, but I’m like you just got out of one fiasco, avoid whatever that may seem as misunderstanding that will lead to gbas gbos. Not until I read IFRSC comment and Pearl that some how align with my tots.

You load 22k yesterday and still able to keep your salary. Do you know some full time drivers didn’t even get to make that yesterday? How often do you get to make this? Do you know that where you live determines a lot? Gigo how much do you make in a week? These will help us reach some vital conclusion I get.

Pearl made some point where he hit on his peace of mind and this has been everything for person like me. I’m up when I’m up, gosh! Right now I don’t want to go through that stress of not willing but I have no choice. That’s what the 5am stuff does to me. I stand in the bathroom and all my teeth is feeling heavy. I have a friend that won’t leave office unless his boss is out of work. Even if he is in the office having some fun with friends, a dude ain’t going no where till oga leaves. Your own work provides you the chance to leave at 3, some don’t even know where they left their body after work and pressure. I am not saying anything loud. Advice is good, and I seriously like the direction is better than speed, but I want you to understand it is not that easy.

At IFRS, I have to quote you because you’ve said it all, let all do what is good for them. Skills can’t be underrated. School or not, one should be good at something. I want to believe you were a driver before living for UK. Do you know same UK is where we back home always got discouraged not to try. If 5m can get one to Uk nd there’s heaven there, I don’t think that is an issue for me. And where did I save such money from? Purely from driving. My point! I want to believe you must have seen people saying nothing in Uk, but anyway you pushed on. Life is deep and I still believe we are fighting different battles. Learnt mine when a friend of mine bought car at 20, deep within I tot he was stupid for using his first win to buy a car, till he bought 2nd, 3rd, 4th to luxuries. Sometimes I do feel we human worry so much over nothing, but at the end life is going to do what it is going to do anyway.

NB : I don’t pray to stay on this hustle for as long as I have spent anymore. For anyone that understands projectile.

Boss even after learning data analysis, you go still Dey find job up and down, na by luck you go see job for Nigeria that pays you well, or maybe a remote job, to Dey render work for fiverr or upwork na another wahala, to me the best tech job to learn is digital marketing, there is no better and sweeter skills than that cus you’ll need it at every aspect of your life, if you’ve work and save money and ready to do your business, digital marketing is 100% important cus without that skills, your business go crash, there are people that still do this office jobs but run stores online and still make millions cus they know how to do this digital marketing, to me digital marketing is the best skills to learn.

God forbid anyone drives for ever. Your driving is a means to open other doors. While trying to use it to open other doors, be totally proficient about it for every stage of this life is a learning process.

5 years from now I'll still be posting on this thread, but from another level. My current job is preparing me for what lies ahead.

Data analyst, IT bla bla, tech Blu Blu are all courses a driver can afford if he sets his mind to it. None of those courses are above 500k

The problem is that people on this thread think hardworking drivers are stupid. When you think in an abjectly low mentality, I'll regard, reply and treat you on the level you have placed yourself.

Most definitely. What I am saying is not past tense.
I don't know the situation u guys are talking about o. Sorry I may sound insensitive, but I am telling u d truth.
I still grossed 81k on Saturday with 20k fuel. I didn't work on Sunday, and I was home yesterday. Today I will go out but I am still at home as I type this but by Saturday I would have made 150k Net at least.
Someone doing ehailing part time is making 10k net daily and he is saying u should go and find a job, so what excuse do u have not to make atleast 20k doing light work? And 30k if u push hard?

I understand what u r saying o, but u have to deprive yourself something sometimes and enjoy later. Even if u work 3days a week u will still meet up with your training and HP. Or u take ur training as a job and work part-time after u close. IT learning is flexible, not everyday from morning till night. U can condition your mind.
Like I said earlier, nobody gains procrastinating.

Nah oga pope, I actually did that to give a reply to Omoapena because of what he posted...I felt a little bit unease reading that. You cannot do the same thing over and over again and expect a diff result..in my response, I posted a screenshot which, personally I never wanted to do....
Now to you, if what am doing works for me, I will continue to LET YOU KNOW ABOUT IT! I strongly believe it is what this thread is meant for. I am still in the Hussle, atleast I have done one trip today and I still have a vehicle on rental. I am only asking Omoapena and others like him to do it in another way!
Bros, I have been a FULL TIME DRIVER and a part-time driver/salary, I have tasted both and l believe one is better, and from my experience I will continue to share knowledge on the one I know to be better...No be everytime, e dey sweet, e dey sweet as pearl dey always bobo una, e hard die and there is another way!
You have said it many times that to make reasonable money you MUST drive for long hour..another one is mentoring people to drive from 5am to 4am but they are SILENT on what that will do to your HEALTH, FAMILY, RELATIONSHIP, GOALS etc....
I purposely included Family in my post yesterday, to show you that they need you and you need them.My family relationship suffers the most when I drove full time. Most of you have lost relationship, who amongst you can attend a wedding on Saturday, when surge full everywhere....the young man that's using my car never attend church for months, he has a wife and kid. This is the story of many of you but lies from hell won't make you admit..Dey play..abi, who go go sit down for church when surge full everywhere.
You see, query at work is part of the job, we dey get am and we dey answer am, we dey also give others query too. If I continue to put in the hardwork , would aim for CFO in a couple of years. If this thread still dey, what do you think the discussion will be? I no get tire, fuel cost, lastma catch me etc. Wouldn't you prefer that than the daily exposure to the shenanigans of Lagos olosho from Radisson to Marriott, to presken to fourpoint, opening boot like 50 times a day! What has happen to your mental health?
