The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has reiterated the need to restore peace and put an end to insurgency in the South-East, while echoing calls for the extradition of Finland-based separatist Simon Ekpa over the illegal Monday sit-at-home order.

This came a day after the Senate condemned the order under the enforcement of a faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), appealing to the Federal Government to collaborate with the Finnish Government to extradite Ekpa to Nigeria for prosecution.

Uzodimma’s revealed his position on Friday during a familiarisation visit from the new General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Enugu, Major General Hassan Dada, at the Government House in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

“What is topmost in our cases is this popular sit-at-home order. There’s one man called Simon Ekpa somewhere in Finland,” he said.

“It is our hope that the security agencies, particularly the military, working with the Federal Government, will be able to either bring Simon Ekpa back to Nigeria to also sit at home with us or be made to face the wrath of the law.”

In a similar vein, the governor met with traditional rulers and community leaders at the headquarters of the Traditional Rulers Council in Owerri where he called for their support in stemming the tide of insecurity and supporting the government and security agencies in fighting crime.

He urged them to shun any sit-at-home order and go about their lawful businesses.

The governor also used the opportunity to disclose the numerous intervention programmes and incentives lined up from the state and federal governments to cushion the economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

These two important meetings came a few hours after the leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, through his counsel, directed Simon Ekpa to refrain from issuing any sit-at-home order in the South-East under any guise.

In his remarks, Major General Dada gave an assurance that all non-state actors would be pursued and all forms of criminality stamped out in the region forthwith.

He noted that he had received a marching order from the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, to end insecurity in the South-East without further delay.

While emphasising that his team would do all it takes to ensure that peace returns to the South-East, he appealed for the support of the Imo governor and indigenes of the state to achieve this feat.

The federal government should obey court orders, release Nnamdi Kanu and sit at home will end effortlessly.

The lawlessness of the government is responsible for everything bad happening in the south east.

Simon Ekpa is not the problem, Simon Ekpa and his terrorist group implementing sit at home are not more than 2,000 people. 2,000 people can not hold over 30,000,000 people to ransom. The truth is majority of the Igbos are fully in support of the terrorist act going on in the south east, they think they are doing Nigeria because they hate Nigeria. An average Igbo man hate Nigeria and does not want Nigeria.

SE is a strange land with strange people. Things fall apart by Chinua Achebe intelligently summarised their people. They are very hardworking with a great zeal for success but they don't have respect for elder or their opinion. They take decision based on emotion without thinking of it's consequences.

Sometimes you shake your head when you see even well educated among them believe that what Ojukwu can't achieve in all his military experience and strategies, Nnamidi kanu or Simon Ekpa will achieve it. What has sit at home achieve till today? Nigeria is gradually isolating SE so activities there will have zero effect on the country.

When Buhari brought back Nnamdi Kanu, a lot of people abused Buhari and I don't think Uzodinma came out to support Buhari action.

While the Sit -at-Home is bad, the Hopeless Supreme Court Governor should stop killing innocent people. The number of innocent people killed in Orlu by Ebubeagu militia is more than their target.
Just last week, I heard from my aunt who's based in the village that a guy who is suspected to be an ESN member was killed. He was traced and when he tried running away, he ran into someone's compound. Everyone present in the compound was shot dead including the target. Why should that happen?
Innocent people are dying carelessly embarassed embarassed

The simplest and most effective way is for Igbo to MASSIVELY UNFOLLOW Simon Ekpa on ALL his social media accounts.

As a matter of fact, Nnamdi Kanu should write an open letter to all Biafra agitators instructing them to massively unfollow Simon Ekpa on social media.
If Ekpa wakes up one morning to find that his Twitter followers have dropped from 103k to about 200 people, nobody will tell him that his online "Prime ministership" is over. grin

This is a simple Non-violent way to defuse the Ekpa threat. cool

It's like Hope Uzodinma aspired to be governor purposely to deal ruthlessly with that Orlu and people in it. What the heck did they do to him in that city in the past?

the once peaceful Orlu is now a war zone. Even the sound of a bursted tyre will see people scampering for safety. Everyone is scared
