We can’t afford Ekpa’s two-week sit-at-home order – Gov Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has said that residents of the State cannot afford to stay at home for two weeks in compliance with the directive issued by the Simon Ekpa’s faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Otti said this on Monday in Abuja, the Federal capital, on the sideline of a security meeting convened by the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu to address issues of insecurity in the South-East, which was attended by the Governors of the region.

The Abia Governor said only a handful of people were benefitting from the sit-at-home order, using the instrument of fear to intimidate the people and as such, the government cannot sit and watch them succeed.

“Governments all over the world cannot be threatened and we need to sound that note of warning.

“You cannot afford to sit at home when you have work to do. A lot of people live on a daily basis; the taxi drivers, the keke drivers, the woman that is selling pepper in the market, if she sits at home for two weeks, she will die of hunger.

“So, it (the order) is null and void,” Otti told journalists after the security meeting.

During the meeting, Otti and his Imo State counterpart, Hope Uzodinma were present, while the Governors of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi sent their representatives.

Without the preaching of hatred, no way the people of the South East will found themselves in deep mess like this.

We shouted, screamed but we were called many bad names. The people of the SS moved on immediately after the 2015 general election, even GEJ himself moved on but the SE continue fanning hatred and bitterness towards Nigeria.

FG did all their best to arrest Kanu thinking it will put an end to the barbaric killings in the region but today we are having Ekpa and if eventually the FG get rid of Simon Ekpa another person will come up again.

SE may not witness peace for the next 20 years again because the amount of arms in that region is enough to turn the region to mogadishu.

Abia is busy today.
Aba is busy today.
Ariaria market is busy today.
Traders are coming from Portharcourt, Uyo, Bayelsa, etc to buy goods in Aba.

Weekly sit at home by Ekperima has never worked and won't work.

I thought the Lion does not concern himself with the plans of the sheep.

It's pathetic the a Sitting Governor will have to explain himself to a pest in a far away country.

"Peter Obi, who is constantly making noise, is engaging in political maneuvering with his community. Why doesn't he just urge them to put an end to the sit-at-home protests once and for all? Obviously, he won't do that because he fears the backlash from his own people. This is the man who aspires to lead Nigeria. It's quite amusing."

Anyone has the right to sit at home. Will Obi force people out of their beds?
Hatred beclouds reasoning. The main issue is the insecurity threat, which your APC government has failed to handle.
Your Tinubu was even asking 'where are the cows?' when he was defending fulani herdsmen in southwest.

The one that you will call 'fake, cloned, photoshop'. When has evidence ever convinced you?

Come to Nigeria from Somalia or whatever country you are hiding in and see Aba with your own eyes.
Most of you Ekpa followers do not live in Igboland.

I harbor no hatred towards the Igbos. In fact, 95% of my friends are Igbos, and I hold them dear to my heart, so there's no reason for me to hate any one of them or their race. My point is that Obi holds significant influence in the East and the entire country, so he should make efforts to address this issue constructively.
I have been against Nnamdi Kanu since day 1.
The monday sit at home is beyond Peter Obi. Obi has never claimed to be a magician.
There are many towns in southeast that no longer observe the monday sit at home.
