Darlington Nwokocha (Abia Central) raised a point of order relying on Section 88 of the Constitution and moved a motion asking the Senate to step down the screening of Mr Keyamo on the ground that he ignored the invitation of the National Assembly in 2020 when he was minister to explain the issue of public.

Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA, Abia South) seconded the motion. This nominee rejected the summons of both the House of Representatives and the Senate pending when this National Assembly has that right to summon a minister and further enquiries made.

Senate is in rowdy session over the motion on the suspension of the nomination of Mr Keyamo’s screening. Some are shouting yes while others are shooting no after Mr Akpabio put the motion to vote.

Some of the senators are whispering in the ear of the senate president while others are standing up protesting that the nomination of Mr Keyamo be suspended.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio stood up from sit and cited Order 62 of the Senate allowing all the senators to calm down. When the senators were calm, the Senate President said a lot of things were considered before nomination of Mr Keyamo.

The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion that the Senate moved into a closed session and seconded by the Minority Leader, Simon Mwadkwom.

At 2:00 p.m, the Senate President directed that the Senate should go into closed-door session and ordered Mr Keyamo to step out of the chamber.

Why did the lawmakers said he should not be confirm as a minister?
He declined the summons of the Senate to account for the billions of naira allocated for the 774000 jobs under his Ministry.

He simply told the Senate of the 9th Assembly he wouldn't attend.....

That's the reason cited by Senators Nwokocha and Abaribe.

He claimed he disregarded the 9th National Assembly when he refused to show up to address them when he was called upon to account for the 52 billion naira allocated for the 774,000 jobs under his Ministry.

I wish the lawmakers won't change their mind. He should be used as an example to other arrogant people like him who behave like gods when they find themselves in an important post

They have a valid reason not to confirm him as a minister, if only they can stand their ground.

Most of them are being partisan. He would be cleared. Opposition Senators are against his nomination while the ruling party's Senators are in support. When they put the motion to voice vote, the nays were louder than the ayes so he may likely be cleared.

You're in support of the opposition Senators because of the woto woto Keyamo dished out to Obidense during the campaign. Lol. It's understandable though but he will be screened and confirmed.

All na initial gra gra. He would probably make it through on party lines.

Ordinarily what he did should be more than enough to disqualify him.

But at long as Akpabio wants he cleared, they will only ask him to apologize, matter finish.

They will still confirm him. They don't have a choice. They just want to ruffle his feathers a bit. Akpabio is Tinubu's boy and Keyamo must be confirmed.

Keyamo would definitely be a controversial nominee.

His work as a human rights activist would have meant stepping on many toes. He was also Buhari's boy and did not shy from confrontations with others.

Some of the toes he stepped on directly or indirect or simply those who don't like him will be quite a few in the senate.

At the end of the day, I am certain he will be nominated a minister.

52bn
I remember how boisterous and petulant he was over the 52bn then, insisting that he alone had the right to carry out the disbursement and not the NDE as directed by the Senate then.
Later, it became a chop for the boys. No special works done and the money shared to cronies who were never verified.
That's how Nigeria's money is being frittered by these people

You just read the reason why he was against him to become a minister, and you are still asking why.

Omo, even with expo in exam hall, you will still fail, because you will end up copying the wrong answer.
