The Senate erupted into a raucous session on Monday as a senator moved to suspend the ministerial screening of Festus Keyamo, former minister of state for labour.

Darlington Nwokocha, a Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, moved a resolution to suspend Keyamo, a Delta State cabinet nominee. Enyinnaya Abaribe, a senator representing Abia-South Senatorial District, seconded Nwokocha’s proposal.

Following that, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the proposal to a voice vote, but the lawmakers were divided on the issue.

He claimed he disregarded the 9th National Assembly when he refused to show up to address them when he was called upon to account for the 52 billion naira allocated for the 774,000 jobs under his Ministry.

That's a good reason not to screen him.
The man has no regard for the national assembly beyond ratifying his nomination.

Once he's invited to explain something, he'll insult them by refusing to appear before then to clarify.

If the national assembly cannot find ways to make political appointees respect them, then they don't deserve any respect.

Keyamo's disrespect needs to be addressed.

Sure I can remember some youths were supposed to be engaged and a payment of 20,000 naira per month paid to them. But unfortunately nobody received shishi. I know of some youths they decieved that time. Many of them spent money they never had just to enroll.. Too bad that at the end one person pocket the money. Whether he sail through the nomination or not, he is already a rich man.

Nope. He did few weeks with Akpabio in ND ministry before he was transferred to work with Ngige in Labor ministry.

His work as a human rights activist would have meant stepping on many toes. He was also Buhari's boy and did not shy from confrontations with others.
