unless he has one scarce skill employers are unable to find in Canada. The government requires that employers consider those in Canada first ( citizens, permanent residents, students etc) before considering outsiders. Possible but very unlikely. Less than a 2% chance. There are many Nigerians in Canada right now that are stranded on visiting visa and have been unable to get jobs. Some agents here are charging 20k dols to arrange jobs ( which is illegal) .Some are going back home while others are looking for asylum or marriage

Tourist visa: stop right there. This is not permission to relocate or become resident, or even work.

You didn't tell your friend of the recent story about the family that sold everything, moved to Canada (or was it UK), and are sorry to have nothing now.

To work, he needs to have Canadian experience (unless a doctor or some other hot field right now). Meaning your guy will be washing pant, dead body, or plates for few years.

Abeg, dem no dey telli person again. Make e go Canada, enrich an agent and the airline while at it. Maybe in a few years, we'll be enjoying that ones sob story about how he wanted to japa at 43! and sold all his resources to be boy-boy in oyinbo land.

Is he an illiterate that cannot think fo himself? How will a tourist visa convert itself to a work permit? How will he get a tourist visa for 5 years when Canada issues a tourist visa based on the expiry date of his passport? So if you have 6 months left on your passport, you will get 6 months visa. If you apply with a 10-year fresh passport, and your eligibility is not in doubt. You will be given 10 years based on the date your biometrics were captured.

Let me give you a simple advice...
Right now 🇨🇦 is doing well by giving couple of people visit visa dis days... nobody knows why dey open dia border... anyway with a visit or tourist visa... You friends chances of getting a work authorization is like 3% out of 100... with is his current age.. the percentage is even low...

-He won't be able to do any work
-To even sweep ground for a resturant or wash plates... he will surely need a work card
- tell him to come with enough money so he won't get frustrated
- nobody will house him for long in canada unless his close family member are dere... so he should think abt that
- some other options to stay legal is to get married...
Finding a wife with ur Immigration status is like Finding a gold... who won marry visitor? He may be lucky sha
- aslyum is another option... tho wen the results comes out and he fail... na immediate removal straight .. if he succeed.. his consider a lucky man.. tho it's takes d grace of God because we ain't war tour country to consider for refugee...

Final advice.. let him use his house to borrow some money... den he ca travel for 3months and see how it is over dere... just selling of ur properties to migrate to Canada on visit visa no just make sense

5 year visa doesn't mean he will stay there for 5 years. There's a maximum number of days u can stay for a tourist visa. And he can't work with a tourist visa.

I once applied and got a UK tourist visa. It's essentially miulti entry visa. And u cant spend more than 3 months or so during each during each visit. I utilised mine twice snd each time stayed there for 2 weeks.

I don't think it's a wise decision to sell all that he has to relocate at 43. I know young people with PR who are still struggling to get jobs over there.

essentially means multiple entry. U can come and for 5 years without need to go to the embassy and apply for tourism visa each time u want to visit

Absolutely NOT! He can NOT work with a tourist visa legally. He might get a menial job that would pay him under the table. The problem with such an arrangement is that the employer would take advantage of his non-immigrant status and use and abuse him. In some cases, the same employer would be the one that would report him to Immigration if he fails to do what his employer wants him to do knowing that he's working in the country illegally. Furthermore, if he gets caught, Canadian Immigration is more stringent than the US and would deport him ASAP unlike the US which would take time to go through the court process before deportation. So, advise your friend whatever he does, NOT to sell his property. The visa agent can promise him heaven on earth now and when it comes down to it, he would leave your friend in a lurch. A word is enough for the wise!

Why tourist visa?
As a tourist will he be able to work?
Now is he married,? why not he goes through the study entry pathway? Which is the easiest now.

Even if he doesn't want to study, his wife can gain admission and he goes as a dependant.

As a tourist, nope! he might not be able to access all benefits.

The study pathway allows him work and later on integrate into the Canadian system.

So him or his wife should consider the study secure route and admissions are open against Sept next year now

It depends. First. Learn a high income skill like tech, business analysis or truck driving, auto mechanic etc. It's worth it.

Gonto dhl and tell the dhl agent you want to send your passport for canada. Almost all of them have experience in it

Remenber to do dhl for to and fro unless you will have to travel to pick it up

If he wants to sell his house, why doesn't he relocate to Canada the right way ie process the highly skilled program or one of the other legit migratory route.
As far as I know, you cannot work with the normal tourist visa. Try that, if caught, wahala.
With thr proper route, you can work, madam can work, kids will go to school. Etc.

There are questions he must ask himself…..Can he do menial jobs? In canada you can’t work on a tourist visa, it is a crime. He wants to sell his house to live an excruciating life in canada. Right now it is easier for him to secure PR or study visa than tourist visa. Canada no dey give tourist visa oh! He will be scammed by those demonic agents.
