You shouldn’t be so quick to disrespect people’s ancestral beliefs. Either create yours or shut da Bleep up. This type of intolerance and insult of other people’s beliefs has historically ignited division and war. oz4real83: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Ajsmart:this isn't disrespect, I'm only correcting a wrong opinion that keeps being passed from generation to generation without any attempt by the successive generation to verify the information or history being passed to them. |

oz4real83: Shut up your ignorant mouth, kiddo ! A fe won ro" is a metaphorical statement;it does not mean Oduduwa fell from the sky ! Your grandfathers know exactly what it means. Oduduwa knew exactly where he came from and he told the people he met in Ile ife. He came from the Middle East and there are countless numbers of evidences that support that. The earlier inhabitants of Jerusalem were a group of BLACk PEOPLE called JEBUSITES who dispersed to different parts of the world as a result of war. It is not a coincidence that the ancient hieroglyphs, quite similar to the Middle East era, were found inside the forest of Osun Osogbo groove ! Oduduwa had no connection with your Benin or whatever and this is clearly supported by relevant Ifa corpus. Facts : * Benin is the land of Bini people;it is not Yoruba land. * Oranmiyan connected Yoruba people to the city of Benin being the first OBA OF BENIN. He introduced Yoruba traditional monachial system of government,as being practiced by his Yoruba people,to the Binis. *Ogisos were the ancient aboriginal rulers of ancient Benin. *Bini and Yoruba people are entirely two different people but the Benin royalty ( OBA of Benin) is of Yoruba ancestry through Oranmiyan, the progenitor of Eweka ruling dynasty of Benin. *Official language spoken at the OBA of Benin palace before the arrival of the Portuguese and Spanish was Yoruba language. *The Benin capital was a metropolis that spoke the same language in the past as Itsekiri. History should always be recanted correctly. Benin city was a Yoruba city of around 50,000 population but in the suburbs today's Benin language was spoken. It was when the empire ceased to be an empire that the present Benin people entered the capital. However they are owners of the land and were the one that accepted a Yoruba monarchy who named the city "Ile Ibinu"- Benin and brought tens of thousands of Yoruba people who built the Benin empire. Portuguese and Spanish records show Yoruba being spoken in Benin and one of them described how the Imale okun,a Yoruba deity, was venerated by saying "Mo be o mo be o imale okun mo be o" which is a Yoruba language. Therefore the Benin that came to Iwere spoke the same language as the Itsekiri. The same is true for the Benin that went to every other place but the Benin of today are Edoid people. *OBA is not a word in Bini language;it is a Yoruba word coined from "Obatala" - the first king in Yoruba land according to Ifa corpus. OBAtala is a Yoruba deity being worshiped all over the world ! *If Oduduwa was a Bini man,why did he not introduced "Ogiso" to the people of Ile Ife ? He did not because he did not know anything about such ! *Yoruba people all over the world - Nigeria, Benin,Togo,Ghana,Ivory Coast,Sierra Leone, Gambia,Senegal,Brazil,Cuba, all over Americas, etc, they all agreed that they came from Ile Ife,Osun State in Nigeria. Ga Mantse of Accra (Ghana) recently visited Ooni of Ife and publicly proclaimed his Yoruba roots. Olu of Itshekiri said same thing recently when he visited the Governor of Ogun state. Ewe (of Benin Republic,Togo,Ghana and Ivory Coast),Lucumi ( of both Delta state in Nigeria and the Carribeans),Creole of Sierra Leone,Gambia,Senegal,Liberia, etc, they all firmly affirm their "Yorubaness" and point to Ile Ife as their ancestral home. This is why that multiple Grammy award winner from Benin Republic,Angelique Kiddjo, will always tell whosoever cares to know that she is a YORUBA woman. So,whosoever think they know Yoruba history more or better than the Yoruba themselves must be stupid ! Not a single group of Yoruba, both in Nigeria or elsewhere, mentioned anything about Benin city as their ancestral home because it is not and they have no connection to it ! Some Princes of Lagos (Isale Eko) are direct descendants of Oranmiyan same way the Eweka ruling dynasty of Benin. No Bini man has ever been a king or reigned in Ga Idugaran( Oba of Lagos palace);they have always been Yoruba men. My maternal great grand father was OBA Esugbayi Eleko of Lagos. We are Yoruba people from Ile Ife. *Bronze craft was an ancient skill of the Ile Ife people. Bini people later learnt about the skill through Yoruba people that went to Benin with Oranmiyan. It is a fact. *Ijaw people, who are the Binis next door neighbors, actually recorded it in their own account of Benin history that the Benin royalty is of Yoruba acenstry. Yes,they recorded it in their own accounts because they witnessed the arrival of Oranmiyan to Benin city. * It is not by accident that some Benin people bear Yoruba names till today and that is because they are descendants of Yoruba people. Tittles like " Asipa","Iyaoba" ,"Olori", "Ayaoba",etc are Yoruba words and have no meaning in Bini language. What you Bini desperately want to erase from your history is the fact that the OBA of Benin stool is of Yoruba ancestry through Oranmiyan,a Yoruba prince from Ile Ife and the first to use the tittle of an "OBA" being the practice of his Yoruba people. People like you can argue from now till eternity; it changes nothing ! A fact finding mission to Ile Ife will open your eyes to lots of truths which will eventually set you free from the bondage of lies that must have been handed over to you Bini guys from generation to generation ! Yoruba people don't actually think much of the Binis and that's why most Yoruba don't even care about your futile attempts to rewriting our (Yoruba)history ! 9 Likes 4 Shares |
