Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, says the company has introduced a new WhatsApp feature with the ability to screen-share during video calls.

It said that the latest update offered users the ability to share their screens in real time during conversations.

According to Meta, by clicking on the designated ‘Share’ icon, users can choose between sharing a specific application or their entire screen.

It said that this function opened up a variety of possibilities, from collaborating on work documents to browsing through photos with family, planning trips, shopping online with friends, or providing technical assistance to grandparents.

It said that screen sharing adds a dynamic dimension to calls which enable users to provide a live view of their screen content during conversations.

This feature is particularly useful for both personal and professional scenarios.

“Also, WhatsApp users can now enjoy video calls in landscape mode on smartphones.

“This enhancement offers a wider and more immersive viewing and sharing experience during video calls,” it said

It means more intrusive access on your phone
For anyone who has sent or received nudes or anything you don’t want seen, just know it’s in another server and someone can/has probably seen it

Fantastic.

Small Official meetings can now be done via WhatsApp. Meaning one could share slides or documents on their phone so the participants can view along while on an active video call.

I think some persons are confusing the feature for sharing the video with others, it is not a screen recorder like some person are thinking but simply means you could share files on an active call for others to see. You could even train people via WhatsApp video call by opening your slides and sharing with them while you explain.

Google Teams and other similar App now have a strong competition that could see them decline in popularity except that they offer more audience than WhatsApp that takes a little number of participants.

And that's a problem. We need WhatsApp to remain social and not used by companies to chase their employees about on deliverables. Even if WhatsApp should support business, it should support only social-powered businesses alone like home services, beauty products, etc
