That was just silly arrogance. Denmark was the defending European Champion! Won it against Holland in 1996! Shockingly, they did not even qualified for that Euro but was called to replace a particular country.
I think you are talking about euro 92

small correction, in that Afcon 2000 final especially that first half we were thoroughly outplayed by Cameroon, if we had someone like Uzoho/Okoye in goal, there won’t be any need for Nigeria to come out for second half

grin grin

In 1998 without his 'fluidity' we beat Spain 3-2 with his same 'fluidity' Paraguay and Denmark beat us silly.

For goodness sake what was Kanu's business dropping deep when we had the likes of Oliseh, Adepoju, Okocha and Oruma running things in midfield?

Abi was he dropping deep to help the midfield in Arsenal too that he only scored double digit goals once in his entire time with the Gooners

I guess, him getting to play in Ajax, Arsenal, Inter milan happened with people not knowing a good player.

Kanu Nwankwo's playing style was an asset. We might have midfielders but Kanu's style added more fluidity and made the offensive players perform better.

Kanu was ineffective to the team in 1998.

Infact after the Olympics Kanu because of his heart surgery wasn't in the team but the SE were still deadly.

Amokachi, Amuneke, Oliseh, Okocha and the rest of them really carried the team despite the alien 3-5-2 formation Troussier who was coach then introduced.

Without De Bruyne two seasons ago, Manchester City was still very deadly, does that mean De Bruyne is ineffective? We had a good team and each player brought something different to the table. Kanu Nwankwo from the moment he burst into the scene had something special that made him go places.

I'm happy you have resorted to listing teams that Kanu played for not bringing actual numbers or stats to back your argument.

Again I'm not arguing or disputing Kanu's talent or abilities I'm just saying his performance in the SE is not all it's hyped up to be.

De Bruyne numbers (goals and assists) have proven he's indispensable to City.

Please bring up Kanu's national team numbers I want to see something.

Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova in 2012: "Messi is best player in the world by a long way."

Jose Mourinho one week later: "If Lionel Messi is the best on the planet, Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the universe."

No dull moment with Jose 🤣🤣🤣🤣

With the array of forwards at our disposal now, it is about time the likes of Iheanacho and Aribo are left out to create rooms for more midfielders and inform forwards. These guys can't be getting call ups while warming the bench in the championship.
