Are you currently in a relationship or about to say I do? If yes, here are the important tests to do before marriage 👇


1. Genotype compatibility testing:

This test is very important as it evaluates whether or not partners run the risk of having children with sickle cell disorder. We have different types of genotype but the commonest ones are AA, AS, SS, SC. AA can marry all genotypes but on no account should AS and AS marry. Also, AS and SS cannot marry. This test is so important that it’ll save you from future regrets, pains and tears.


2. Blood grouping test:

Everybody has a blood type and there are four main blood groups : A, B, O and AB with a protein called Rhesus factor which can be present or absent within each group.
Knowing your blood groups and rhesus compatibility will help you prevent possible complications that occur among Rh negative pregnant women with Rh positive partners.

3. Viral Screening:
Intending couples should know their HIV status, test for Hepatitis B and C together with other sexually transmitted diseases.
This will help you to take steps in protecting yourself, treat yourself if infected, and prevent the transmission of diseases.
It would also help in preventing mother to child transmission.


4. Mental health status:

With everything happening in our society today, knowing the mental status of your partner is very important. Please visit a psychologist.
