The team suspected that you tapped wire from inside the building before it comes out of the building. Simply put the team is suspicious of meter bypass in the premises which is serious offence under the company law.

There is a possibility that a bypass of the prepaid meter could be hidden within the concrete.

Nevertheless, I am surprised that a prepaid meter is installed inside the house. It makes no sense to have a PPM inside because it can be tampered.

Regarding the conductors, if they are actually conduit, the it can simply be pulled out without damaging the building.

Lol, oga they want to see the wire all the way from the pole to your meter boss

You have just said the obvious.

Some customers divert loads before it gets to meter. What they are asking for in essence is to see how your wires coming from pole entered the meter.

Re: EKEDC Issued A Warning To Bring Out Wires From Conduit - Any Advice? by Fixed: 7:52pm On Aug 15, 2023
Because you can easily tap light for free from the part where the wires are hidden. That is what is called bypassing of meter.

Visit their nearest service center and get proper details.

And you don't need to tamper with the structural integrity of your home to extricate conduit wires. Things like this are part of the essence of a man-hole in the house.

I work with EKEDC as an enumerator, the reason why you were given that disconnection order is because of the common practices of some customers bypassing their meter through those medium. It's very easy for a customer to tap from the wires in the condict without anyone knowing

The wiring should not have been conduited right into the building. You typically would have junction box outside the wall, and the mains lines would go into that junction box or meter. This ensures that all the electricity to the building can be disconnected from one place (either for billing or for fire/electrical safety).

As it is, there is no (visual) guarantee that the mains wires are not split in a way that bypasses the meter or mains switch. Again, you want an easily-verifiable way to show that the house is not energized.

Advice would be to do what NEPA has asked: cut the mains, reroute first to a meter, then connect from meter back into the conduit. But I'm sure since I'm talking to a fellow Nigerian blessed with oversabi and shortcut, a few 10k will settle the matter with NEPA and the problem will not be fixed - just ignored... for now.

It's part of measure to reduce energy theft, A service wire passing through a wall before entering the prepaid meter shown that alot of things are happening behind the scenes, in order to avoid disconnection you have to do the right thing immediately to avoid sanctions.

A cable passing through a building wall before reaching the the electricity meter is a form of Energy theft due to a lot of experience.

Electricity distribution company no get sense. Meters on the pole are in use for this kind of conduit wiring. Simple ask that your meter be changed to a Pole meter to avoid stress if you don't have anything to hide

Probably you have bypassed the meter. You just need to run a surface cable that everyone can see from energy source to your meter. You don't need to brake the wall. Just run new cable and disconnect the conduit line. That is the way you can convince them. You have to follow the rule, else you will be disconnect ed or even surchaged if you are not careful.

No need to break anything. Cut the wire from the entrance of the conduit and the exit outside the conduit pullout the hidden wires and rejoin the visible exposed wires. There you have it.

It's their new policy got same from BEDC about a year plus ago and I complied. I also know someone from AEDC zone who got same too. This is to forestall meter bypass

You do not need to brake the wall. If the wire is stuck then you have to cut it and add another cable to run it in surface to the DB.

I believe the reason for d order is for them to be able to view the directions of the cables that supplies the building.
