Thanks for sharing your experience. I knew this was going to be the option to take but hearing people say she might be penalized and asked to pay for COS being issued should in case both NHS Trusts issue it the same time.

Thank you

amehrada:
My wife had this same dilemma. She had an offer from one NHS Trust located in London last year October but the Trust was so slow in completing all the pre employment checks and issuing her COS. By March 2023, after 5 months of waiting on the Trusts, we decided it was best for her to resume job hunting cause our mind bin nor too dey that London sef due to cost of living. Luckily for her towards the end of March, she got another NHS offer which she gladly accepted. This new NHS trust had told her that they hope to get her in by May if all pre employment checks are duly completed on time with no issues. I just say erm, na so let’s wait for who will first issue COS and turn down the other(I just come dey pray make e be say na that 2nd offer go quick issue her COS because I nor like that London, but inside my mind I don still decide say if na that one still first come o, we go march am).

By the 2nd week of April this other Trust(2nd offer) gave her COS and immediately she got the COS, she wrote the first NHS Trust located in London and politely withdrew her acceptance of their offer of employment. They wished her best of luck.

My wife has since arrived in the UK and currently working as a staff nurse with the 2nd NHS Trust that was quick to issue her COS.

1. No one will penalise you for accepting 2 offers but since you cannot work for both NHS Trusts, why accept both offers? Besides, you dey spoil road for those wey dey come for back with the Trust you will be rejecting.

2. You see that time that the first Trust is taking to give you CoS, the second Trust will take the same amount of time, if not more. So what is the point?

3. No NHS Trust will ever ask you to pay for CoS. The cost of CoS is chicken change to them.

4. How best to manage the situation: Pick one offer and reject the other one now by letting them know you have accepted another offer. Wait patiently while your CoS is being readied. Since you have gone far with the first Trust, stick with them cos the you don't want to start the process all over again with the second Trust.

My CoS took at least 5 months, likewise Tier4Dependant 's. Patience is a virtue

I hope this helps

No lies bro. You have said it all 👍👍👍

Thank you for your response, I am asking this for a family friend. She said the WhatsApp group they (first Trust) created are full of complaints of people who have been waiting forever to get their COS and that became a concern for her.

Since she has done several interviews with some waiting to get back to her with outcome and feedbacks, she just accepted this new offer today and send the requested pre-employment checks completed forms back to them.

It depends on what they mean by "waiting forever". How long has it being? One year? I have seen people on here who did biometrics and start complaining that UKVI is taking "forever" after waiting for only 3 days...and dem no even do priority.

Trusts that are already short-staffed won't delay anyone unnecessarily. They would have to go through a thorough verification process before issuing any CoS because the hiring managers will have to make reports to higher authorities.

If your family friend is not feeling confident in the first Trust, they can always reject their offer at any time and go ahead with the second Trust. But let them bear in mind that "the greener pasture" they are looking for in the second Trust might just be a mirage

I hope this helps

Thank you for sharing more lights on this.

The grass is not always greener at the other side most of the time.

Please those that went to Tls centre recently, do people still walk in and make the ₦44,0000 payment onsite? Or you have to book for the walk-in online.

The original appointment date is 6th of September which is very far away.

You can amend and pay for the Flexi online for the day you want.

You can accept as many offers as you like, there is no law that stops you.

You can be issued as many COS as you like, there is no issue with that too, its just stressful. The NHS have one of the laziest HR in the world. Some HR are fast, others can frustrate you. A trust can still reject you even after issuing COS. Thats why they give you a conditional offer letter. Dont stress yourself, if you see another offer, please take it. When you reject the first job, it would go to the next person in line/quene. Think of only yourself, no send dem, dem self no send you.

If you get issued 2 or more COS, you have to message the one you dont want to withdraw their COS. If they refuse or are slow, report them to UKVI.

However, you can only use 1 COS per time with UKVi. You cannot use 2.

No Trust can ask you to pay for rejecting COS because they are refunded full amount if you dont use the COS. If thy ask you to pay, report them to UKVI , they would take it up.

In this journey, think of only yourself. If you are still in doubt, you can mail UKVI and ask them questions, they would be happy to answer

To ensure a smooth process, it is necessary for payment to be made before completing the biometrics procedure. Kindly consult the individual who aided you in filling out your application form for further clarification.

Nobody can penalise you for it. UK has laws and they follow them unlike Nigeria. You cant just do anyhow. Thats why they cannot stop recruitment from Nigeria because the constitution guarantees freedom of movement, to stop it is to go against constitution.

UKVI frowns against Employers collecting money for COS. Employers get refunded when you dont use COS so its robbery to collect money again from you. Na serious frown. They can ban the Trust from issuing COS to anybody and blacklist them sef. No fear, just do what is best for you and your family. Besides, go through Gov Uk website. Everything is there.

Please elders in the house, I need your advice.

My dream has always been to work in the lab as a medical lab scientist. Due to some factors, I couldn’t get admitted into the course in Nigeria, I had to study medical biochemistry.

The conversion course was also stopped in Nigeria so I couldn’t move over.

Now, I will be resuming in UK for MSc Biotechnology next month, I have the following questions, please:

1. Is it still worth it pursuing a conversion to Biomedical Science practice in the UK? Is it possible?

2. If yes, how? Are there courses and internship to take to join IBMS, and eventually HCPC so I am ready to take on NHS roles immediately after graduation.

3. Or should I just fully pursue Biotechnology which seems to have limited opportunities and sponsorship in the UK compared to Biomedical Science.

Note: The only time I practiced biomedical science was during my IT in Nigeria few years ago. But I have worked in the health/wellness awareness space ever since graduation.

Thanks a lot

Good morning to everyone...Am going through some difficult time with IOM and I know am not the only one in this,I was able to book my TB test last week(9th of August) and I was scheduled for 14th August,I made transfer to the account rolled out by their customer care (Standard Chartered Bank) and message them with the Booking appointment confirmation message and payment receipt, till the booking day they didn't get back to me so I went to IOM on that Monday (14th August) but we were told we are holding draft appointment not yet confirmed (over 50persons were in this on that Monday) We were told to go back home and message them with our passports and payment confirmation and I did email them on that Monday they replied me on Tuesday to send my passports in PDF format which I did immediately and till now they haven't reply me even after sending messages everyday till this morning nothing yet... Pls if anyone know what else I can do or anyone who's in the same situation like mine and have been able to solve the problem. 😠😡

It’s so unfortunate that you are the one paying for the misbehavior of IOM website.

The website has been behaving this way for a while so what most people do is book through email.

They will reply you with a new booking date. Send reminders again. If it is urgent, perhaps you might have to go back to their centre with proof so they can reschedule you for a closer date.

you would have applied for msc in Biomedical science, towards completing the program you write to HCPC and they verify your undergraduate transcript, Msc transcript then tell you the top up modules needed to meet requirement for registration as a BMS in Biochemistry. When you do the top up modules from them you can now apply for trainee BMS position which is like the equivalent of internship we do here as MLS, from there you can now be fully registered. I don't think the courses you will take with Msc biotech will fit into HCPC courses at all.

There are airBnb services in Newcastle.he doesn’t need special ID, his international passport will do. He should also keep in mind that he may not be able to get his own accommodation in one month. He should speak to his employer and see if they can work something out for him.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

What about taking some certifications courses even if they are lower band or should I just focus on Biotechnology.

When I check the different job sites, Biotech roles are always very few.
