The Nigerian Navy is making fresh moves to establish a Forward Operations Base (FOB) at Epe for the purpose of protecting the over $35 billion (N19 trillion) worth of investment at the Lagos Free Zone.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had described the Lagos Free Zone as investors’ destination during the commissioning of the Lekki Deep Seaport.

But responding to questions during an inspection tour of the Western Fleets at the Nigerian Navy Town, Lagos, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala, said the navy is setting up a new operational base at Epe to protect the investment at the Lagos free Zone at Epe.

The Chief of the Naval Staff said the new base would complement the existing naval units such as NNS BEECROFT and others in the Lagos area.

Vice Admiral Ogalla said given the huge investment in the maritime section and Lagos being strategic to the economy of the nation and the Sub region, the navy deemed it necessary to establish the FOB.

He said the deployment and the establishment of new operational bases are part of the navy’s strategic guidelines to protect the economy of the nation.

“We are also starting up new bases at Epe to take care of the free zone. All these things are in view to improve the ease of doing business in Lagos, by ensuring the aspect of security in maritime domain is taken care of,” he said.

What is the work of the marine police?

All these show how favoured, both divine and temporal, Lagos has been. All these show that the state of Lagos today isn't the result of any man (least BAT's) strategic thinking and planning.

With the resources abundant in Lagos; with the massive investments by the Federal Government of our commonwealth in Lagos; with her strategic positioning, a truly strategic thinker would have taken Lagos to much greater heights than her current state. But alas! In true administrative terms, orderliness and quality of life, we still can't compare her to any of the major cities in Africa, not to talk of those outside the continent.

We have already seen Fashola's rocket science claims about electricity generation blown out; we're currently witnessing Tinubu's acclaimed administrative sagacity being questioned by all and sundry...

Lagos is open for investments
There is no sit at home in Lagos
Official Busneses are open in Lagos, Mondays to Friday
Manufacturing takes place on a 24-Hour basis
Monday morning, businesses are open. No closure of businesses.

Jagbajantis intete.

All na noise.

What’s happening with their “protection” of oil pipelines in the Niger Delta. We hear how their officials connive with oil thieves to steal oil and make humongous wealth for themselves.

The evidence of their “protection” is found in their very fat pot bellies.

It is only another avenue to loot public resources abeg.

That place is bounded by the Atlantic ocean. Have you ever seen the police near the Atlantic ocean?

Police has a Mopol base, several Police stations and Area command there.
Nigerian Customs service also has base there.

Are the investments not part of the nation?

And its the Police that should guard the waterways?

Please, mention a single country in the world where the Police patrols the Atlantic ocean and defend the coastline. Just 1 country.

Anything along the Atlantic ocean is Naval concern.

I believe to a large extent the navy will protect the free zone investments like they said but they will eventually turn that entire freezone to a big office where illegal returns must come from that's the mentality of the black man, we must find a way to get illegal funds from every situation. Look at the situation in Niger delta, The same navy heads are still in connivance with major oil thieves till tomorrow providing them with safe passage to disappear with ship loads of our precious crude oil...

God will help Nigeria to have true PATRIOTS.
