This is the main difference between Nigeria and some of these African countries like Niger and co.

Nigeria has the capacity to leverage these resources IN-HOUSE.

Process them and build anything we want.

I'm very glad Nigerian and African leaders have said that this LITHIUM of a thing will not be like previous raw materials that were just shipped out raw for a pittance.

That era is gone and gone for good.

The other day, Ugandan President Museveni said that some European investors had visited him in his office, and said they wanted to mine Ugandan lithium.

He asked them why.

They said because they wanted to use it to build nuclear power plants, to increase their power generation.

He asked them if they'd ever seen the Access to Electricity statistics for Uganda, vis-a-vis their country.

They said no.

He said ok, that they should go and read it, and get back to him, so that they could discuss how they could partner to use the lithium to increase power generation in UGANDA FIRST, before he can allow them to buy any extra they have left.

He said they left and never returned.

These people?

If you don't use your sense with them, they will finish you.

The oil we have what have we built with it?

We have all the riches we need

We only lack good management

No be Naija again? Lmao

If they can't encourage foreign investors to come build lithium battery factories here instead of just exporting it like they do to oil, we're going nowhere.
Naija needs more factories now than ever.
Use the raw materials to make the finished goods here, then you can export. More job opportunities.

Nigeria is cursed with bad leaders if not we shouldn't have any reason to borrow money for whatever reason. We give light to other African countries who have light 24 hours a day yet we can't boast of 12 hours each day of light.

Abacha's recovered loot can't be accounted for. What use is this news now?

Buhri's govt started with huge hope. Standing on the mantra of change to stop all forms of curruption. Now, hus tenure has ended, we are still investigating the humongous curruption in his regime. From the trilions moved from CBN in defending the naira to the billions of dollars transferred to Danote to the billions/trillions stollen through NNPC to the billions spent on sharing to the supposed less privileged and feeding children school.
This is aimed at giving us high hopes. The past Abia state gov okezie Ikpeazu gave high hopes but at the end of his service, we have seen its all lies

As far as the people exploiting this minerals are not Nigerians. It is still not acceptable. We need to start taking charge of our own development. It is here for us not for them.

Is Africa so intellectually poor that all we care about is Chinese investors, to award project na Chinese.

Too bad. Too bad.

Let's kuku hand over our government to them.
With this way of doing things, Africa we continue to trail them. Africa get sense.
They can't be the architects of our own development and expect us to have a place in the world.

Stop overhyping the shíthole country Nigeria has become. We discovered crude oil in commercial quantity over over 50 years ago, but till today we don't have one working refinery to process crude oil into other finished products.

If the Nigerian government that gave this Thor exploration licence did not make arrangements to ensure the raw lithium is not shipped out to be processed in Canada or Europe, then that's what is going to happen, and 20 years time Nigerians will Still be hitting their heads against each other to support one crooked politician or the other.

Note that our dull politicians know it's easier to steal those unprocessed minerals and raw materials. That is why they don't do anything serious to ensure it's transformation into other finished products here in Nigeria.
