Better
Don't be disgracing our church
Disgracing our church? Hmmm...

The Anglican Church is one of civility.

A king is to be honoured, for he represents the office given him by God, that is why we continue to Pray for those in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. (See Rom 13:1 & 1 Tim 2:2).

This is Lagos and the peculiarity is obvious. We have had situations where Bishops have moved certain -tion services (Confirmation or collation) to certain venues because of one inconvenience or the other. When we used to have Badagry Archdeaconry with us, it was a problem.

There is nothing disgraceful if Sanwo-Olu so requests with reasons adduced. I have seen same happen outside of Lagos as well.

Bp Okupkevi is an epitome of humility, remember when I first met him in 1997 at St. Michael's Church Ojo. May his reign bring good things to Lagos diocese.

Hmmm. A visitor requesting for change of venue from his hosts looks like see finish to me. If you can't make kuku send representative.
Christians need to know to put themselves in a position of prestige.
The Bible verse you quoted is not talking about placing humans above another simply because they occupy an office. It's talking about honouring them and praying for them not kowtowing to their wishes

The Anglican Church is One that has enormous respect for those in authority yet still speak truth to power.

How is the Governor of a State a visitor?
Everything is not politics and there is nothing to kowtow... Whether The Cathedral in Marina or the cathedral in Ikeja, it is done inside a church.

The convenience for the Governor must have been responsible for the enthronement taking place at Archbishop Vining rather than the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina.

Wonderful .....
That has been my Archdeaconry HQs since I can remember.

...I used to visit there almost every day during the early 2000s (the late Ven. A A Akinade was Archdeacon then). I was confirmed there...

It's now a mother-archdeaconry having birthed 4 Archdeaconries.

Wow... Actually, it's a grandmother to Iba Archdeaconry.

Iba broke out from Festac. I remember I was at the formation of Festac Archdeaconry with the Boys Brigade @ COP in 2000 where then Vicar, Babatunde Joseph Adeyemi (now Bishop, Missionary Diocese of Badagry and an old St Michaeli Ojo person) was collated as her First Archdeacon.

Your former Archdeacon, Ven Theodore Nwabasili was Vicar in my home Church in 2002-2007. I visited him sometime in 2018 @ Co Epiphany.

The Church is marching on and the gates of Hell shall not prevail.

Yea, Rt. Revd. B J Adeyemi is from Aradagun in Badagry, so it was easy to send him to help the young Diocese at the time.

Then, Revd Canon S. Ade George was @ Christ Church, Ebute-Metta at the time, and was my favourite to be premier Archdeacon of Festac, he was AYF's Spiritual Patron @ the time, still later became a Ven though.

Himself and Ven Ezekiel Dahunsi (then Archdeacon of Agege, later became pioneer bishop of Idoani, now retired) were my biggest influence growing up.

I am not in Lagos @ the moment but my family still worships in Ojo Archdeaconry. Nwabasili is one of the finest, he married whilst he was in my home Church, and is now at Alaba Archdeaconry.

No B.J is not from Badagry, they said Bishop Okupkevi is the first indigenous son to be Bishop.
Yeah! Nwabasili is a very good person, very sound and intelligent. He was preferred Ven in Epiphany church.
Yeah Bishop Agara was with us in AVMCC before going to Idoani

Really, but Adeyemi speaks their language, always thought he was Badagrian.

Agara is now a Bishop? Wow.

I used to know him when he was Vicar @ Holy Trinity, Maza Maza back in the days.

He is not from Badagry, yeah Agara is the Bishop of Idoani , he was the Dean of AVMCC before his election as Bishop. He succeeded Bishop Abel Ajibodu who is now Bishop of Ile Oluji as the Dean of AVMCC.

I remember Segun Adeyemi was I believe the 1st Dean of the Diocese then headed out to Kwara as Bishop.

That's a nice one from the Diocese. Can't wait for Festac/Ojo to get theirs. cool

He rose to the position of Archbishop of Kwara.
The current Dean is Ven. Ebenezer Adewole
