Religion has dulled the capacity of Nigerians and their rulers to reason rationally. Imagine the greed it takes to be fixated with the afterlife to the extent of going on pilgrimages and all manner of spendings in the name of the hereafter when such monies could best be applied to live a better life here and now. It is the same logic playing out here. |

sulaak:Leave bloomberg alone. Despite the billions spent on it,the rail system is not working. That is an indictment already. If it is working, will they have the effontery to write? Learn to look inward and stop blaming others for your woes. Dead railway that gulped billions is a clear indication of incompetence and cluelessness. |

Jeezuzpick:That is the extent of your brain capacity. You cannot outdo your brain DNA is data all molecular and submolecular interaction is data The entire existence is data light, heat sound smell anything that exists is data. You just don't have the brain power to process that. You cut your hair or your nails and data is transmitted triggering regrowth. You die? data is transmitted and maggots appear You have an undergraduate mindset capable of learning other people's ideas but not of thinking your own |

tete7000:The failure of the railway is due to the government's incompetence and corruption, but to claim that the project is a wrong design is nonsense. I subscribe to Bloomberg and am well aware of their self-interest and politics, so let us not be misled that they are looking out for Nigerians. |

sulaak:Lagos is not Abuja. Okay, let's even leave out the fact that the crazy hold-up that's the norm everywhere in Lagos only happens in some areas in Abuja at peak hours, Kindly explain why the light rail is dead, even when complete. My own explanation is, it's USELESS! it's there to fulfil a nonexistent purpose. In Lagos, it will work fine. In Abuja......useless, at least for now and the nearest future. You'll understand if you live or have lived in Abuja with its 8-lane roads and high-speed traffic. |

sulaak:@ bolded. I like the enthusiasm with which you've driven home your point... However, riddle me this; what kind of feasibility study did they do that obviously didn't include efficient and effective operation of the rail system? I bet the contractors went back to the BPP to request for variation yet...if you know, you know IMHO, that's cos it was never intended to serve it's true purpose. But I hear you. |

This is what you get when tribal and ethic sentiments is primary in designing and building national infrastructure. Among the regions in Nigeria, the Easterners do more of the travelling, and it's natural for such litmus test through a novel project should put them into consideration first, since it's purely business oriented. A East - west rail line would have made more sense, as this will create more avenue for local investors to even have their own coaches. Every Xmas, Igbos throng enmass to the east and same to Lagos and south west afterwards. I'm not saying the Easterners are more deserving of such infrastructure than others, but using that as a testing ground wud aid better knowledge on how to adapt it in other areas where the citizens hardly commute like the easterners. Nigeria can only get better when we become more nationalistic in approach. |

descarado:Nice one. Greed and selfishness are at the root of the problems of Africans. A super greedy people don't have any business creating a nation and nationhood. Sometimes I wonder if greed is one of the primordial instincts or DNA, recessive in other races but still dominant in us blacks😁 I mean, it could be, sadly. |

Jeezuzpick:Chief, The Abuja Light rail is dead because of corruption and incompetence, even the Lagos Metro will not survive Nigeria's corruption, stealing tickets and selling them without remittance to the central government will destroy any operation. |
| Re: Nigeria’s Train To Nowhere Shows How Not To Build Public Transit - Bloomberg by sulaak(m): 10:04am On Aug 30, 2023 |
Greattha:From day one, the railway has been mired in corruption, the same corruption that has destroyed the oil exporting sector; the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is responsible for the demise of the Abuja railway. Nigeria's corruption and destructive culture are responsible. The government should have outsourced the railway to a Western or Chinese company instead of the government officials stealing rail tickets and selling them on the black market. Ticketing corruption by railway staff, soldiers, and policemen derailing the Abuja-Kaduna rail project (2) |

Mandate1:This is just stupid. An East-West railway line is not a priority. Railways linking the North to the Southern port should be the priority. An upgraded SDR railway that links the South-South ports (Warri, Port Harcourt, Onne, Calabar) to the North via the Eastern State, North Central and North East will transform the South East. |

Gajagojo:I will leave you with your high brain capacity, spewing esoteric but impractical nonsense. I am an engineer. I deal with data I can use. The one that exists 'outside my existence' is not my concern. You can make it yours and use it as you see fit, since you're a genius. Lemme stay on my low brain capacity level. |
