China, India, Mexico, others plan fresh investments in Nigeria

Ambassadors from the Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Indonesian governments have said that they will continue to deepen investment in the Nigerian economy.

The envoys spoke at the International Business Conference and Expo 2023, organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the theme, ‘Invest Nigeria’.

In his remarks, the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Jian Chun, said the Chinese government would to deepen its ties with Nigeria through sustainable investments.

He noted that many Chinese companies such as Huawei had already begun to consolidate their presence in Nigeria through strategic investments.

India’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Shri Balasubramanian, said that in the past four decades, India had made investments spanning across the pharmaceutical, food and manufacturing sectors to the tune of $19bn.

“So, there have been a lot of investments, a lot of projects in Nigeria in the last four decades,” he said.

He said plans were currently afloat to make investments in new areas such as renewable energy due to demands occasioned by the changing times that we live in.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Usra Harahap, described Nigeria as its strategic partner in Africa. He said the Southeast Asian country would deepen ties with Nigeria, especially in the economic sector.

On his part, the Mexican Ambassador to Nigeria, Alfredo Miranda, said his country would strengthen economic relations with Nigeria.

In his opening remarks, the President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Michael Olawale-Cole, said the conference provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the Nigerian economy and identify investment opportunities.

Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Shoyanwo, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said that a vibrant investment landscape was essential for sustainable development.

While foreigners see goldmine opportunities in Nigeria and grab it, lazy youths in Nigeria wake up and go to bed daily not doing anything productive with their lives and looking for who and what to blame.

These FDIs should please keep bringing their investments to Nigeria, specifically Lagos and the neighbouring Yoruba southwest states, we are always ready to host them and support their businesses.
Invest in Nigeria, Lagos and Yorubaland today. May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

The Chinese said they're making strategic investments. Note; nothing tangible was mentioned grin grin

The Indian said his country has made over $19 billion worth of investments in the last 40 years. Note; ask them how many were made in the last few years or post 2015 grin grin

The Indonesian said they're hoping to invest. Note; they never mentioned what, how or where they're going to invest grin grin

Let APC and their condemned propagandists continue to spew their useless propaganda. But they should know it's only a matter of time!

Audio investment.

The government are just coming out with this propaganda to ease the mind of the citizen. Giving them false hope. With the whole investment, what have the common man achieved? The youth are into Internet fraud (Yahoo) because their leaders have failed them. No work, no amenities and no improve economy. Nothing to show of or boast of. It’s a shame. The so called investment of those aforementioned countries is nothing but scam. This government is just for propaganda

Igbos will never b happy about this or betterstill talk down on it but just tell them 53 companies are leaving Nigeria then they will b d happiest

So much for people who suddenly fell in love with Nigeria prior to d election

Before election igbos were shouting e go shock u n many of us do not understand but now we know better, the meaning of e go shock u then was that the way they will move from we love Nigeria to Nigeria is a zoo

It really shocked me to my bone marrow

Imagine zikojukwu that once said he wish he could kill all non Igbos in Nigeria suddenly started calling Nigeria a beautiful country but now he’s back to his default mode

The only people I pity are d non igbos who fell for ipob plan B

I don't think any reasonable Nigerian wants to know who is coming for investment right now while the majority of the people languish in perpetual poverty.

Walk on the streets and see things yourself. It's a sad story from market woman to local artisans. And here, someone is harping on pure facade of an investment. Even Satan would shudder in disbelief the height of moral depravity in Tinubu and his propaganda network.

A hungry man doesn't listen to useless stories cos as it stands, 3 cups of rice as palliative is not what Nigerians bargained for. hence the investment story is a ploy to divagate attention from pressing issues. cry cry cry

Stop the lies and propaganda. Because you call one or wo people to come and open a business for optics isn't DFI.

See is about time we stop with all this propaganda. And the youths whom they use well, maybe you are also abroad like me that's why you don't care whatever happens there .

I can't type much again read this thread

Or read the comment below I made on this issue earlier

Unperturbedpota:
Smh

Because he is refusing to publish all the propaganda you pushed him anymore.

For years you guys used the media to sell lies.. lies upon lies about Nigeria and the economy.

Foreign investors believed and made the mistake of coming here to invest then they lost billions.

From Jumia to Konga to bata ro nestle to Glaxo to Lufthansa to Kellogs to ToyRUs to Lego to Walmart to Pizza hut , etc I could go on and on listing foreign investors whis believed the lies from the Lagos Chamber of commerce then..

You sold Bloomberg et al the usual lies that the Nigerian chamber of commerce spits out daily backed by the propaganda from the Nigerian bureau of statistics.

All false fake data based on a 200 million population, what you didn't tell them which they all later realized is that there has been no real census so we don't know if our population is 200 million or 50 million.

What they also realised was that of that fake 200 million population there is no middle class only a 1% elite and a 99% extremely poor class.

So now they all got angry and started pulling out their Forex. It's a matter of time before Dstv leaves too, I foresee them selling off to a local partner and devesting from the Nigerian economy. This year's Big brother Naija has recorded the lowest revenue ever!!

The politicians wasted years building concrete castles like Eko Atlantic city which their citizens can't afford instead of investing in human capital so they can sustain the middle class . Now the middle class is extinct in Nigeria.

Companies have no customers who can purchase their products .

Starlinks has sold less here in Nigeria than Kenya. Yet we claim to have 200 million while Kenya are around 20 million people, let that sink in .

Nigeria is fast fading and the president still thinks propaganda can fly. The world has seen the truth and they have run from your economy .
Kenya is growing in leaps and bounds every foreign company not found in Nigeria is in Kenya, From Microsoft to all the foreign airlines, to Lego to sharp to Sony to Asus to Siemens to Atlus to Ubisoft to every single foreign investor you can think of have offices in Kenya not Nigeria.

Until the citizens push for good leaders Nigeria will continue crashing more and more while you open threads on Nairaland wailing and blaming others for your problems instead of facing your leaders.

For those whose brains can't understand, this is something as trivial as gokart tracks. over 10 different huge tracks setup in Kenya and are extremely profitable....

https://destinationskenya.com/top-8-best-places-for-go-karting-in-kenya/

I think Lagos had one or at most 2. They have closed up since. Because they made No profit and the economy killed them long ago, why? The citizens in Nigeria are poor and can't afford such, against Kenya where their minimum wage is better and the people have much more disposable income because Kenya has a huge middle class.

The only business in Nigeria that survives are those for the extremely poor like pure water or those that carter to the 1% rich

Nigeria economy is finished
