I wanted to get 10 acres of cheap land I saw in Ogun State but guess what, I was warned not to buy the land as I wasn't a uoruba boy, and was told to go to my village. I cannot afford to get the land size I want in my village as land is considerably more expensive there. Make we continue.
please where in Ogun is this cause I've been running operations in Ogun for five years now and this is the first time I'm hearing of such....

The lies are beginning to come to light. We were earlier told that the North is producing enough rice to feed the nation. And the rice mills were shown to us to make us believe that Nigerians were actually farming rice.

But why import bulk unmilled rice from India, only to mill it here in Nigeria and pass it off as Kebbi or Kano rice?

Maybe I didn't understand the post.

Why are Nigerian Youths not interested in farming.

Cos it's hard labour
Most don't have what it takes to mechanise (minimum 10 acres I think) and also it's in the village where there is no club or hustle and bustle of city life

Farming is boring and not Sexy

Alright, mate, let me explain what this news is saying in a simple way. It's about how India's ban on exporting some types of rice has affected Nigeria and other countries that depend on importing rice from India.

Basically, India decided to stop sending out non-basmati rice, which is a cheaper and more common kind of rice, to keep the prices low in their own country. This means that Nigeria and other West African countries can't get enough rice from India to meet their local demands. Nigeria has been trying to produce more rice locally, but it still needs to import some rice to make up for the gap.

Now, because of the shortage of rice from India, the local rice farmers and millers in Nigeria are also struggling. They can't get enough rice to process and sell, and they have to deal with other problems like border closure, sanctions, and bandits. This has caused many of them to shut down their businesses and lose their income.
As a result of all this, the price of rice in Nigeria has gone up a lot in the past few months.

Now, to answer your question about whether or not it is the raw rice from India they mill in Nigeria and brand locally produced rice, the answer is no. Nigeria imports mainly Indica white rice from India, which is already milled and polished. Nigeria also produces its own local rice, such as Ofada, Abakiliki, and Lake Rice, which are different from the Indian rice in terms of quality and nutrition. The local rice is milled by local millers who add value to the product and create employment. Nigeria does not import raw rice from India and repackage it as local rice. That would be considered dishonest and illegal. That's my little idea!
Lemme also explain what that article exposed...
It exposed the lies buhari govt and APC fed Nigerians that we r now self sufficient in rice production.
Have I forgotten the rice pyramids buhari flagged off abi commissioned last year in 3 different locations bragging how Nigeria is cultivating more than 5million metric tonnes of rice and how we r exporting ours to other countries?

Little did we know bulk of those bags were imported from India.

If they are importing rice from India so why do they banned foreign rice from other countries. Nigeria is a scam with foolish educated citizens.

You seem to forget that even if America and the other countries import, their export value is much more than what they import unlike our Nigeria that imports almost everything, while crude oil which is the only tangible thing that we export is reimported back to us as refined fuel. What can negatively affect the value of a country's currency more than that?
Can you tell me just one product made in America than ammunition? Most of their commodities are made in China for American Market. America Imports much more than they export and those exported were mostly produced outside for their Market.

That's why Donald trump was fighting China hard and accusing them of intellectual property theft cos America gave Chinese those ideas which made them a developed nation. As America does, we have the market, we have the population. In fact, our population should be for our advantage. Sadly, the reverse is the case, no thanks to bad leadership.

With this gibberish you typed, how would local miller's close shop if they were not milling imported rice? It is just like British refinery closing shop because Nigeria is no longer supplying crude.

FG has been help for many years. Just that Nigerians are criminals. They collect the money and never ever utilize it or pay back. Lol... I ask the same question.

I thought rice mills process the locally harvested rice, just as palm oil mills process palm fruits to produce palm oil.

I'm telling you....India bans exportation of rice and that makes rice mills in Nigeria to shut down... It doesn't make sense, except and only if what he said is the truth... They import cheap from India, mill it and package as locally produced rice

Nigeria is a disgrace to the black race.

Some Nigerians don't know that, we import palm oil.

Ai and technology can't be deplored to farm lands that are constantly under terrorist attack, recently we have added perennial floodings to our list of problems, Ai and technology needs a favourable atmosphere to germinate on, just as peace is the prerequisite for luring foreign investors, political will by leaders to upturn the status quo is what is mostly needed before A.I and technology can come in.

I spoke to him, as well as 2 land agent acquaintances, and they all gave similar responses. One said I could lease for a long term without issues I’m even though it had it’s own risks.
