In the light of the escalating coups in Africa, with the West African subregion having the highest, the Federal Government has dismissed any fears of coup in Nigeria, saying the country has gone past a forceful takeover of government.https://punchng.com/fg-dismisses-coup-fear-ex-generals-warn-politicians-against-poor-governance/?amp

They should continue to push the Nigerian people to the wall with their senseless lootings and bad policies. We will push back real hard very soon. And when we do, even there families will have no place to hide. |

This is how Tafawa Balewa( RIP ), General Gowon, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed( RIP ), Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Shagari( RIP ), & Maj-Gen. Babatunde Idiagbon( RIP ) were defiant and aloof in denouncing rumours of coup plots during their time. The rest is now history. Murtala said and I quote; "If you want avert a coup, then remove what causes the coup." The era of 1966 military coup regimes are back and the triggering factors back then are still in reckoning till date.Legalisation of illegitimacy/ unconstitutionality have given rise to it. Lawlessness begat lawlessness. Illegality begat Illegality.Anarchy, lawlessness and unconstitutionality reign supremely where there is no rule of law. Fingers crossed! |

IconicR:What exactly is your own? Is it that critical thinking is forbidden for you... You are all over the place attacking people without trying to do any kind of objective reasoning... How can a person with functioning faculties make the kind of outlandish assertions you make? No-one is advocating for military rule but it is only a mad man who would persist in arbitrariness and impunity with the belief that some kind of comeuppance wouldn't catch up with them... |

The military is docile and cannot plan any coup. However Nigerians will chase this government out of office in December 2023. How? Wait and see. |

Let's be frank, 23 years of democracy has not been good for Nigeria. One bad government to another. But coup won't fix our problems. Unless we are lucky to get a leader like Park Chung Hee, combined with Lee Kwam Yeu and Deng Xiaoping together....and Nigerians won't like that kind of strict ruler.....we won't benefit from coup. Some people even come here and say that army rulers would loot less than civilians. Well....THEY WOULD STILL BE LOOTING...and the kind of looting would be massive. We are still looking for Abacha loot up till now. (Plus, go to Minna, and see IBB's house. See the house 8 years of enjoyment built). If we want a better democratic rule for Nigeria, we have to PARTICIPATE. We have to accept that 1) people won;t listen to us 2) we would lose and keep loosing, 3) we may even reach old age and die at 130 years old without seeing the benefits. But army coup always ends up with a long reign of tyranny and at the end it is a mess But that does not mean we should still clap for APC. Bad governance has to end and has to end NOW. |

You will never hear a word about mutiny and coup in the western world because the politicians there (though not saints) put the people first and rarely underperform. Unline here in Africa where we are selfish, wicked, greedy and of course, heartless. While I don't support coup in whatever guise, it is important for the new government in this country to focus on delivering good governance to the people. When a government is good, even the people will rise up in support of the government if there is a coup. |

Nigeria is a failed nation. During the military government we had four functional refineries, built the kanji dam, many federal universities and infrastructures. What have we benefited from this democratic system of government apart from enriching few politicians, leaving the Masses in extreme poverty and hardship with nothing to show for. Up till now uninterrupted power supply is still a big problem in this failed state. |
