I think Chelsea will still get it right. they still need time. at times a star studded side will not just get it right at a point. different clubs have passed thru such stages at one point or the other. man utd, arsenal, man city, Liverpool etc

He hit a gold mine with both Maddison and Ange.

The latter knows how to coach average players to something unbelievable.

I still don't get how Man United failed to scoop James Maddison up since last season.
as in ehnn i just taya for man u o Maddison was up for grabs

a 1billion pound team cannot get it right? what does a 1billion pound team need time for?

if time was the problem, why spend 1billion pounds on players?

by the way, what makes this chelsea side "star studded"?

His best position is behind dy main striker, a number 10.

United have Bruno there nd he is untouchable nd he hardly gets injured.

Unfortunately that's Mount best position 2 nd I couldn't see dy Logic in buying him too

You guys should have bought Maddison instead of Mount...!

That's a no brainer na!

There is the need to re-echo the importance of stepping up when the result fall short of expectation. There is no guarantee that once you spend big, you begin to have the desired results. Trajectory of man city and even psg speaks volume. It takes time.
lexy2014:

Bro, you didn't answer the questions.

Why should the coach talk to them to step up their performance?

I thought the idea was to "spend big" and once you do that you can win anything and everything?

Why will you give "two solid seasons" to a billion pound team to blend?

How much time will you now give to a Luton that is worth just £20m to blend?

Very very good points. Spot on.

But having an "elite prolific striker" devoid of good coaching, na zero.

If you remember a season before Halaand, Guardiola won the season without a striker
In those seasons, Guardiola had Mahrez, Sterling and De Bruyne on top of their games...In any case, it was only for a season or thereabouts...

He was able to tinker his way to the league but threw away a UCL title to Chelsea in one of the most silly coaching performances he had done.

He knew he fumbled massively with the doomed false 9 project...

I am sure he licked his wounds in private and as the practical and forward-looking coach that he is, he went out and signed Haaland.

Build your team purely on midfielders and inverted wingers in the modern game and watch smart coaches make your team look like the Holland teams of those days: so much effort with little end product...

That might get you a top four placing but never a serious title...

based on your response above,

how will the players step up after the coach has told them t step up?

what is the expectation that the result has fallen short of?

if Chelsea spent 600million pounds last season and finished 12th, why spend more this season since you say buying players doesnt guarantee results?

You need to understand how football works, the importance of an elite forward in a team cannot be over-emphasized.

Although Haaland couldn't score from the two legs against Madrid to the final against Inter Milan, his presence on the pitch made it difficult for the defence and midfield of each opposing team to join their attack without being mindful of a lethal counter-attack.

That is how Real Madrid win trophies upon trophies...They get your hands full with a potent attacking force while not undermining the basic need for a resilient defense...

No army wins wars by always being on the defensive...this holds true in football as well..

Gallagher who is a proven goal score being drop too a defensive role, and Enzo who have not scored one goal in his life giving an attacking role, coupled with the fact that the useless coach always pack defenders in. At this rate, Chelsea will lose if not 10 straight games.

Because this loss will make other teams charge them to bag the free point.

What is now the job of the coach if Chelsea now "need high profile established players to revive the team"?

How will the high profile established players revive the team?

The "high profile established players", will they fall from heaven?

All the billions they spent on players what is it for?

If you say "You can't have Westham United materials and expect to compete with top 4 teams", what does Newcastle have that made it qualify for CL?

How did West ham win a European trophy with it's calibre of players?

Big or established players put fear in opponents teams, it is not necessary they have full team of star players, just few of them in staring 11. Team mentality matters alot in football, you don't expect your team to beat opponents that have already concluded in their minds that your players are not better than them, likewise you cant win games with players who already believes their opponents are above their levels.

Newcastle simply profited from abysmal performances of Chelsea, Man u, Liverpool and Tottenham. Watch out what will happen to them this season.

As for the Westham United, alot of teams in that Europa league conference are not better than or at the same level with English championship league teams.
