When they want to give power to civilian. They form constitution review committee to design new constitution for incoming civilian government. It is the law made by the committee that will be giving to the new civilian government

From 1922 to 1960 all the constitutions were written by the colonial masters ( the white men) from 1966, 1979, 1989 and 1999 constitutions were written by the military governments.

Civilian and democratic governments have not write any constitution in Nigeria before or may be once I e the 1963 republican constitution which is another copy and paste of the 1960 independent constitution written by the British.

Attempt was made by Jonathan but it was not successful

Since 1999 our national assembly have only been able to change just 1 or 2 section in the 1999 constitution

So let me get this straight Ironsi is to blame, but those who drafted the 1979 and 1999 constitution are blameless despite seeing centralisation of power and resources have not benefited the masses in anyway?

Be deceiving yourself thinking Yorubas will support SS to have it. FYI I’m Yoruba but I don’t care who produces the President, it doesn’t benefit the ordinary man. But my point is for as long as the constitution doesn’t say it should be rotated btw regions, and the only popular rotation that exist is btw North and South, Yorubas will always give it a shot whenever it comes to the South. Yorubas will tell you let the best candidate with the largest support win, knowing that they have the capacity to garner support across the country. They will gladly support anybody from the south for VP position after Tinubu just to show that they support others, afterall VP is no 2. Meanwhile it’s all a ploy for the next time it will be coming down south.

I’m just pointing out a political plan that has been going on since 1999. The earlier the other tribes realize it the better. The Fulanis have realized for them to continually rule Nigeria they need a Southern partner and unfortunately they’ve chosen a partner whom they know can frustrate their plans. Considering how politicians have run the country aground, you will still cry wolf if the military strikes. Prior to the coup, politicians was already running the country aground just barely six years after independence. There were major political and tribal crisis in the north at the time which resulted in the death of civilians. And also, the chaos happening during the Akintola and Awolowo's power tussle, and the consequence mismanagement of those crises and the collective resources and diversity of the people gave the military a good reason to strike.
