'Avin' food and drink on board would be a right ol' nuisance.
Think about it - food and drink spillages on the seats, crumbs on the floor, and passengers gettin' all peckish and creating a right palaver. Plus, it'd be a pain in the neck for the cleaners, there'd be more mess to tidy up and more risks of attracting critters like rats.

Food and drink could pose a safety risk too, imagine someone chokin' on a snack or gettin' sick from dodgy takeout on the train. And let's not forget the smell - no one wants to be cooped up on a train that smells like someone's takeaway curry!
The trains are designed to be quick and efficient, and having passengers eating and drinking would slow down the whole operation. It's all about keepin' the system runnin' smoothly, innit!

You can always have your meal before or after hopping on the train. Afterall, it is not a long distance journey, another option is to get out at the next station if you are so hungry and you cannot wait.
