innovative ideas and technologies that can revolutionalise our infrastructure and transportation systems.”

Alkali also expressed the federal government’s commitment to connecting all the seaports by rail, as well as connecting the airports and dry ports across the country.

On her part, Chinwe Uwaegbute, executive secretary of NTCF, said the forum aimed to provide a platform for enhanced coordination, share best practices, and collectively work towards the improvement of national transportation infrastructure.

Uwaegbute said the urban transportation system in Nigeria must undergo a transformational shift to meet the yearnings of the public with respect to the movement of goods and services.

“The dismantling of the fuel subsidy regime marks a pivotal moment that demands our attention, reflection, and collaborative exploration of alternatives,” she said.

She said the federal and state governments must see the need to have a paradigm shift towards a sustainable urban transportation system that aligns with global efforts.

This, Uwaegbute said, would significantly combat climate change and improve the quality of the citizenry.

Fantastic. My kind of language. We need a public transport revolution. We need at the very least to integrate all states by rail network. Trams once navigated Lagos, those could return. Authorities could start with a basic straight line that cut from top of the state to the bottom or figure 8.

We shouldn't forget bicycles either . A young nation like Nigeria with infrastructure yet to be established, can afford to create dedicated bicycle roads unlike in Europe where they just draw parallel lines beside car main roads, and pain between them, because infrastructure is already established and the cost of creating dedicated routes for cycling too prohibitive.

Out tiny revaluations should aim to lead the world not copy. We don't need to be technologically advanced in order to creat the best living environment for people .

It's not about thinking. Nigerian law doesn't allow state governors fix Interstate projects. They must get federal approval for it. Nigeria has exclusive and concurrent lists.

Besides, many of them don't have the money to finance such capital-intensive projects. Even Buhari had to borrow a lot of money from China to finance his railway projects. If you want governors to have more funds, allow everyone control their resources and pay tax to the centre.

But Lagos State has been doing PPP public private partnership

State governor's can still attract FDI

I believe it's doable
If they want to

State government don see us finish. They can’t do nada than the mediocre they are used to.

The best way is to invite private investors to do these things and allow them to recoup their investments.

I am sure it’s going to be a win-win venture. They would make money, our lives would improve, there would be jobs, crimes would reduce, economy would prosper.

Let’s give serious investors the opportunities. Things like longer tax holidays, ridiculously reduced land-use charge and licenses with strict basic standard of infrastructure we expect from them.
Our local investors can team-up with foreign ones that have needed technicalities.

Walahi, we are suffering from non availability of basic infrastructure in Nigeria.

FG is a big joke. Na so Tinubu go de shift responsibility? You take the resources from the state and share them peanuts but shift huge responsibility to them, are you kidding me? Even other resources that are not being explored are abandoned to illegal miners because you tied the hands of states. How dare you give them such big responsibility? Any serious state will focus on interconnecting all nooks and crannies the with good road from whatever peanut Abuja is willing to give them

Tourism is under the purview of states and that alone makes the millions if not billions. It been that way even during military era and the Supreme Court made that clear many years ago.

Oga, Buhari met railway in the advanced stages left by GEJ. He succeeded in connecting Maradi, in Niger republic, rather than getting the yeye Rotimi Amaechi to connect the whole country.

Where are the Buhari infrastructures that you talk about? Poverty infrastructure maybe.

If Amaechi had focused on connecting railway to the SS and SE, would it not have made sense. Infact it would generate more income for the FG, than the wasted Maradi venture.
Maradi people for Niger Republic wey never see food chop.

I hope you all can hear clearly.

We, the people of Southwest are not asking you to finance it, just get investors to partner with.

Do this and leave the backward people to claim that they are developers.

We developed the whole of SouthWest except Iragbiji, Ago-Iwoye, Idanre and few other places grin grin grin

The Efik homeland- Cross River State is bigger than the whole of South-East heck it even 2.9/3.0 of Ireland. Driving from Obudu to Calabar is 6 hours and that in the same state, Driving the whole of Ireland is 4 hours 🤣

Note: If you add Northern Ireland which is the only tiny percent that makes Ireland bigger than Cross River then than like 5 hours.

WOW didn't know States can do FDIs anyhow with that the prison industrial revolution will begin in the Federation in 2024. It took the US 130 years before states had control of corrections and we are just in our 63rd year after Independence. The town I am currently living in here in Osun State is small in area but bigger than Dundalk and Drogheda in population 2x
