I don't understand the fuss about this matter.
For most transportation systems, the standard is to make announcements in the local language and English. If you enter an Air France / Turkish etc airline for example, all announcements are in French/Turkish/local language, and English.

As long as announcements are ALSO made in English, what is the issue?! I don't understand why everything has to be turned into an issue of tribalism, very tiring.

Re: Lagos Metro Official Addresses Passengers In Yoruba Language (Video) by Pallium: 10:27am On Sep 13, 2023
Stupid comments everywhere.
I guess most people commenting haven't boarded the Federal Government Abuja to Kaduna train before. The train service addresses the passengers using Hausa and English.

Lagos own is a state-owned train. Federal Government didn't spend a dime on it. It is completely owned by the Lagos State Government. And Lagos is a Yoruba state.

So why the fuss from never-do-well tribalists attacking the initiative?
The owner of the train which is the Yoruba Lagos State can do whatever they want with the train.

If you tribalist haters cry today, tomorrow and forever more, it won't change anything.

English is not our official language BECAUSE there are over 300 different ethnic groups

We have existed for thousands of years and only started speaking English about 100 years ago

Your logic is wrong and factually askew
We use English because the British colonized us

That does not mean we must use it for ever

We still use Pi to calculate the area of a circle and other Greek Alphabets in mathematics
The New Testament was written in Greek
Because Greek once occupiedthe place that English now does
Later Latin replaced Greek in that role
Isaac Newton an English man wrote his famous Principia Matematicsa in Latin not English

Now Englishis a dominant language

That does not mean that the Yoruba MUST accept that it will be like that for ever
You may come from a weak culture and accept that but the Yoruba culture is strong and seeks to be the primary language in Yorubaspace

Itis not an accident that the Yoruba religion is the only one that survives till this day among descendants of slaves in the Americas

You have a choice to accept cultural enslavement

Do not insist that Yoruba make that choice
First, you re wrong to say English is not our offical language in Nigeria, it is our lingua franca in which our constitution and laws are written and our government administers Nigeria. Nobody is stopping Lagos or SW from using Yoruba if they feel like, but not this political Yoruba language they introduced in Lagos in the aftermath of Tinubu loosing Lagos to Obi. We know the origin of this new move to impose Yoruba language on everyone. But the mistake is that they believe it was non Yorubas that made Tinubu loose Lagos and want to show them that they own Lagos by forcing Yoruba language dowm people's throat. They dont know that those that led to the defeat of Asiwaju in Lagos are his Yoruba political enemies and not really no. Yorubas. Again, i am not against use of local dialect, i am against politicians trying to force it as if it is one of the dividends of democracy that people voted for.

Obi has really shook and reshaped Nigerian politics forever within few months. I am so proud to be Igbo because whatever an Igbo person ventures into with all his or her heart, he makes a huge difference and impact.

Just take a look at how one man has unsettled every other Nigerian politician without even saying a single word.

Peter Obi you are a legend, first of its kind that Nigeria ever had. A man that his silence alone makes opposition to pee in their dirty panties.

Reno Omokri have gone mad over Peter Obi that haven't altered a word in response to all Reno Omokri's unnecessary attacks on Obi. The whole thing come de make Reno feel like committing suicide, now another useless woman known as Lauretta Onochie has joined their hall of shame to lend her own useless voice by showing shameful hatred towards a peaceful man that have been preaching peace and calm to overcharged Obidient movement waiting for Peter Obi's approval to burn Nigeria down.

Ah, God abeg I tap into Peter Obi's divine grace, e no easy; a man whose silence makes the whole nation go gaga cheesy

Because of Peter Obi's 2023 Presidential election effect, Yorubas have woke up and now want to guard Lagos and every other Yoruba state from being taken away from Yorubas like Kwara State and others, and una say Peter Obi no be legend, abeg comot for road, who de who de, ha fugodi convoy anyi jiri weh bata obodo ha nodi ofuma cheesy

Is that how they play it in 4 languages in Abuja, Aba, Kano or Enugu?

Nothing for una for Lagos again. If you don't like it, gerrout.
Lagos will not pander to economic refugees running from the consequences of their stupidity. No be me dey lock una mama under the bed every Monday.

Unfortunately I am a classically proud Yoruba man. So you've got the wrong person.

Meanwhile I am just saying the practical truth. Lagos is a metropolitan city, and the metro line is servicing a lot of people across numerous tribal divides. Therefore the instruction should be taped for their own understanding too.

Supported!

Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines should make all safety announcements in Igbo first. Ibom Air, AZMAN Air should do the same in their languages too.

No police, army, air force official should be posted outside of their own region.

CBN, NPA, Inland Revenue, etc should be broken up along regional lines. Each region manning their own.

Free movement should be abolished. Any SE relocating to SW must apply for residence permit first. Same applies to moves to and from all other parts of the former area known as Nigeria.

Lagos will push Yoruba agenda and you enemies of Lagos will see shege.

Shebi you were calling Lagos no man's land?
Even your ancestors will cry for you.
Your comments depicts your shortsightedness and scant knowledge of issues at stake.

Is Lagos made up Yoruba and Egun only? How much does Yoruba and Egun people pay as tax vis-à-vis other ethnic groups?

Therefore, your verbose is infantile, babyish and foooolish.

Lagos is not the only yoruba land. Infact its not even the oldest or most cultural. we have the ancient city of Ibadan.

The issue with lagos is more political than cultural. Lagos has been a melting pot for all tribes and tax payers are from all tribes.

There is no argument that lagos is yoruba land bt it is also a metropolitan state and that is not a bad thing.

Same with abuja. Let's stop the negative political agenda.

Therefore, underpinning the city with Yoruba agenda would be counter productive. Ask Warri people and they will tell you.
