ijustdey:You this Small Boy forming King should take your time. We all saw what Ganduje did to Lamido Sanusi and Heavens did not fall. That was an Ordinary Governor and not a Man who has Governed Nigeria both as a Military and a Civilian President. Many of you people do not have the background stories of what led to Obasanjo doing what he did. So, why no just allow the Matter to rest, instead of promoting a useless conversation as if anyone loves those Monarchs or if those Monarchs has helped anyone? |

This man is ranting for nothing. He forget to remember that it is a governor that gives king his staff of office, without which that king is not approved. So a governor of a state is above any king. So kings should stand up for governor. Ganduje removed Sanusi, heaven didn't fall. |

zelnababa:Unfortunately, the law has no regard for culture. In all, I blame the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. For your knowledge, a Local Government Chairman is more powerful than the King. So, for me, all your opinions are out of discretion. Who discretion help in the sight of the Law? |

What's so special about an emir? Former Governor of kano state, ganduje deposed a first class emir(Sanusi) in kano, and nothing happened. |

kings lost their powers since the amalgamation and independence of Nigeria, now they are just there for design and allocation lolz,. The local govt chairman is even more powerful than the king talkmore of Obasanjo, and besides he must have put most of them there or even helped them one way or another |

franksam209:I don't think they lost their power because there most to be a constituted authority for a country can be call a country and A town is different from a state and also a country . Those day we are talking about is almost thesame thing is just that those British that govern us then don't have time to visit town and they only send representative and those representative are just fearing their fetish power then not there authority . Are u people saying it is good to be respectful to person because you know he/ she can arm you spiritual or we should be respectful because of the authority. |

Yunisa001:I don't understand what you are trying to say Sha, but what I'm trying to say is that most kings have no power, no authority, they can only make noise using those street touts, and they make money from selling/Allocating those community lands, and maybe during election they help those politicians secure votes and get paid, that's all Last month one was even sentenced to death for murder, |

BALLOSKI:How many Emirs in the north attend Launching of roads and universities in the North. Even if they are invited by the state governor they will send representatives and not leave their domains and be sitting in the sun or under a canopy listening to governors performing their PR stunts. Imagine a retinue of Yoruba Obas sitting in front of a governor like school boys attending a school debate. |

casualobserver:Dude, you can't use your conclusion as hypothesis in your proof of your conclusion. Didn't they teach you this at school ? I asked you to prove to me that traditional rulers "work for the state" as you put it. The only thing which I can retain in your response is "collect salaries from the state" And then I will debunk your argument by this: 1) those are not salaries, they are allowances. 2) the king of England also collects allowances, does he "work for the state" ? 3) ex presidents also collect allowances, do they "work for the state" ? 4) I was expecting you to at least give an intelligent argument, let me explain to you the condition of traditional rulers: they operate a system which they inherited from their ancestors (I'm not referring to the fake traditional rulers created by the Nigerian government or the british). Colonisation was the act of Britain waging war against the countries of the region and defeating them and then creating two colonies out of those countries (northern and southern Nigeria), those colonies were later joined together as one. Indirect rule was the British vassalising the monarchs of the region. Independence was the British "relinquishing" power from their colony (Nigeria) and leaving behind a copycat system of government which is foreign to our land and is not entirely sovereign and is extremely corrupt. The current state of the traditional rulers is due to general abdulsalami copying the American system of government before handing power over to civilians. In the previous republic of Nigeria, the monarchs had a sort of "house of lords" just like the British. Abdulsalami copied the USA system of government and left out the monarchs from their previous political roles. But still that doesn't mean they "work for the state". Like many Nigerians, you lack knowledge of history and understand very little of current affairs. You guys are extremely politicised and see mostly through politics. There is more to this world than politics. |

Stoplying:All this nonsense to prove you are ignorant and daft. Traditional rulers are employees of state governments, that is why governors confirm and remove them. Previously they were employees of the British colonial governments and upon independence their “employment was transferred to regional governments which later became state governments. It does hurt to do some res search, reading won’t make you go blind. Just one quick google search revealed the following. You people call yourselves the internet generation, it doesn’t cost you anything to do a quick 30 second search before you come on the internet making a fool of yourself. Despite your obvious ignorance, I hope you are educated and intelligent enough to know the importance of a government gazette and the meaning of the word salary in an official gazette. “GRADING AND SALARIES OF CHIEFS IN THE SOUTHERN PROVINCES IN 1938 Paragraph 4 "The Salaries of the First and Second Class Chiefs in the Southern Provinces are as follows "First Class 1. Alaafin of Oyo £4,200 2. Alake of Abeokuta £2,250 3. Awujale of Ijebu Ode £1, 700 4. Oba of Benin £1,650 5. Ooni of Ife £1,440 "Second Class 1. Olubadan of Ibadan £2,400 2. Owa of Ilesha £1, 450 3. Oshimawe of Ondo £350 4. Orangun of Ila £200 Source : See Page 4, Paragraph 4 GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA Federal Ministry of Information National Archives File No 33044 Class Mark CSO 26 Letter No. S.P. 11828/20 Secretary Office, Southern Province Nigeria Enugu 31, January 1938. Note: This is the ranking of Obas and Chiefs as contained in the fedetal government gazettes found in the National archives in Nigeria and Britain. It is also on record that Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, The Alaafin of Oyo have always spoken and written on empirical data, there is need for our eminent scholars and researchers to go the extra mile to enlighten the people so that they are not fed with false and unfounded stories on the Yoruba nation whose father is the Alaafin of Oyo“ As for your nonsense about abdulsalam, read the Nigerian constitution, there is not a single mention of them. Since independence they have only ever existed and had any official recognition at the regional or state level under the AUTHORITY of the respective governors who can remove them at will for any reason he deems. As far as federal law is concerned the monarchy does not exist and rightfully so because they were all conquered by the British. Whatever positions they occupied previously was 1) as employees to help the colonial masters with administration in return for which they were allowed to save face and keep the title of kings. Kings who report to governors. |

I always pity those who think they can win an argument against me: 1. I never enter an argument without having proof of my claims. 2. I never deviate from objectif truth. 3. I never use anything but logic All that being said, I can see by your response that you are not very mature. I suppose you are a teenager. a. when you want to use a paper as your argument, at least provide a screenshot, the page and a link to the website hosting the paper. So right now you have me talking about a paper whose existence is not guaranteed and which may not actually contain the words you claim it does (if the paper does exist) b. If the paper which you are quoting is authentic then you believe the money given to traditional rulers by the British invaders was a salary because it is written "salary" on the paper ? In that logic, I guess it would be "god blessed magical money" if the British had written a paper in which they call it so ? c. Again, monarchs do not work, they get allowances, not salaries. It seems like you want to drag me into an other debate entirely, about "rankings" now 😓 what is it with you guys that you can never stay on topic ? You always need distractions. (For your info, there is no such think as "rankings", kings of different kingdoms are not ranked amongst each other, you seem to not fully understand that the British were foreign invaders who invaded sovereign kingdoms of the region...) D. Of course you are one of those calling the British master...what a waste of time... casualobserver: |

casualobserver:1. Of course you rely on "Google search" because in reality you have no idea of what you are talking about, you are just doing a quick 30 second Google search instead of being a person whom have studied the situation and have reached logical conclusions with consideration of all the facts. 2. I don't know what generation you are talking about, but I don't call myself "internet generation". I'm an intellectual, a mathematician, I study things, I don't "Google them", we do not operate on the same level of intellect. 3. "I hope you are educated and intelligent enough to know the importance of a government gazette and the meaning of the word salary in an official gazette." This is you using the method of a crook, in order to stop me from countering your argument, you first postulate that going against it would be "uneducated and unintelligent". Dude, "government gazette" mean nothing at all, if government gazette call your mom s bi.tch, would that make her a bach ? As I have already stated, the fact a document, even it is a "sacred" government gazette says "salary" doesn't make it so, and learn how to provide a document when you want to quote it. Also what would make anybody "uneducated" and "unintelligent" to not know about government gazettes ? You are showing signs of being a person whose education is limited to knowing how to read and write, since in your mind, every university course talks about government gazettes. How dumb are you ? I can show you geniuses who don't know what a "government gazette" is. |
