All this nonsense to prove you are ignorant and daft. Traditional rulers are employees of state governments, that is why governors confirm and remove them. Previously they were employees of the British colonial governments and upon independence their “employment was transferred to regional governments which later became state governments. It does hurt to do some res search, reading won’t make you go blind.

Just one quick google search revealed the following. You people call yourselves the internet generation, it doesn’t cost you anything to do a quick 30 second search before you come on the internet making a fool of yourself. Despite your obvious ignorance, I hope you are educated and intelligent enough to know the importance of a government gazette and the meaning of the word salary in an official gazette.

“GRADING AND SALARIES OF CHIEFS IN THE SOUTHERN PROVINCES IN 1938
Paragraph 4
"The Salaries of the First and Second Class Chiefs in the Southern Provinces are as follows
"First Class
1. Alaafin of Oyo £4,200
2. Alake of Abeokuta £2,250
3. Awujale of Ijebu Ode £1, 700
4. Oba of Benin £1,650
5. Ooni of Ife £1,440
"Second Class
1. Olubadan of Ibadan £2,400
2. Owa of Ilesha £1, 450
3. Oshimawe of Ondo £350
4. Orangun of Ila £200

GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
Federal Ministry of Information
National Archives
File No 33044 Class Mark CSO 26
Letter No. S.P. 11828/20

Secretary Office, Southern Province Nigeria
Enugu 31, January 1938.
Note: This is the ranking of Obas and Chiefs as contained in the fedetal government gazettes found in the National archives in Nigeria and Britain.
It is also on record that Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, The Alaafin of Oyo have always spoken and written on empirical data, there is need for our eminent scholars and researchers to go the extra mile to enlighten the people so that they are not fed with false and unfounded stories on the Yoruba nation whose father is the Alaafin of Oyo“

As for your nonsense about abdulsalam, read the Nigerian constitution, there is not a single mention of them. Since independence they have only ever existed and had any official recognition at the regional or state level under the AUTHORITY of the respective governors who can remove them at will for any reason he deems.
As far as federal law is concerned the monarchy does not exist and rightfully so because they were all conquered by the British. Whatever positions they occupied previously was 1) as employees to help the colonial masters with administration in return for which they were allowed to save face and keep the title of kings. Kings who report to governors.
Insightful.

1. Of course you rely on "Google search" because in reality you have no idea of what you are talking about, you are just doing a quick 30 second Google search instead of being a person whom have studied the situation and have reached logical conclusions with consideration of all the facts.
2. I don't know what generation you are talking about, but I don't call myself "internet generation". I'm an intellectual, a mathematician, I study things, I don't "Google them", we do not operate on the same level of intellect.
3. "I hope you are educated and intelligent enough to know the importance of a government gazette and the meaning of the word salary in an official gazette." This is you using the method of a crook, in order to stop me from countering your argument, you first postulate that going against it would be "uneducated and unintelligent". Dude, "government gazette" mean nothing at all, if government gazette call your mom s bi.tch, would that make her a bach ? As I have already stated, the fact a document, even it is a "sacred" government gazette says "salary" doesn't make it so, and learn how to provide a document when you want to quote it.
Also what would make anybody "uneducated" and "unintelligent" to not know about government gazettes ? You are showing signs of being a person whose education is limited to knowing how to read and write, since in your mind, every university course talks about government gazettes. How dumb are you ? I can show you geniuses who don't know what a "government gazette" is.

You are clearly an ignoramus and an 1mbec1le, First you say allowance is not salary. Then we show you official government gazette showing that they were salaried. You clearly do not know the significance of a government gazette. When I was growing up ( I grew up in a civil service household) until something is gazetted, it is not taken as official. Those who understand the British, know the difference between allowance and salary talk less in official records. A gazette is an official notice. . Such is the importance of. A gazetted that I am not guilty of breaking a law that has not been gazetted. That is how important a gazette is in governance. Whatever is in a gazette is official.

Every significant action of a government is gazzetted, down to the employment of cleaners, creation of ministries, import duty etc even sending staff on training course, scholarships, redeployment of staff etc.

The records of some government gazzettes in Africa can be found here by country:

https://gazettes.africa/.

Those predating 1957 can be found at the national archives.

Note: This is Monday morning, my intention was to ignore you so I am not responding for your sake but to enlighten others, do not bother reponding to me as it will be met with an ignore. Mor0n calling himself intellectual and not even making an attempt to display intellect! Even allowance, why would a king be paid an allowanance talk less salary? Your intellect did not prompt you that true kings collect Royalties? Hence the “Royal” in royalties. Allowance or salary implies subordination. If a “king” is being paid a salary, the gazette would say salary, similar for allowance or royalties.

The only reason why Nigerian emirs, obas etc still exist in Nigeria is because the British were understaffed. At the time there was 1 Colonial administrator for every 100,000 Nigerians not to talk of the vast geographical area plus they were dying at an alarming rate….9.7% of those seconded to Nigeria died of tropical diseases. British civil servants feared secondment to Nigeria. So vast was the British empire at the time and so understaffed were they that at one time they actually “sold” or leased Nigeria to the Royal Niger company in return for royalties from palm oil etc. The Royal Niger company is the forefather of the companies you know today as UAC, Unilever etc. So traditional kings were retained to help administer the colony in return for which they were salaried and allowed to save face by retaining their titles. In the North it was a different system, they were retained to collect taxes and kept 25% of taxes collected.

Your call yourself King, yet you are paid a salary by the same people collecting royalties on produce from the land you claim you are King over…who is fooling who?

Nonsense talk. President obasanjo did nothing wrong.
It is even worse in the north.
In the north, a governor will not only stand an emir but he will sack him and divide his throne.
Ask the former emir of kano .

It may be right or worse elsewhere but that shouldn't justify it in Yorubaland.

Fact is the constitution has no serious place for monarchs.

Infact, a local govt chairman is constitutionally powerful than a monarch.

A governor can remove or depose any monarch and nothing will happen.

Who is in charge of police?
Even monarchs know this.

An other long writeup.
You really think I have the time to waste reading this ?
Dude, you are just one more person who believes Google is a good replacement for education and intellectual activity.
I have had enough discussions with fools on nairaland for me to not need any more of such for the rest of my life.
Carry on calling the British "master" and carry on saying traditional rulers "work for the state" and justifying it because according to you someone wrote "salary" on a "holy" government Gazette. Dude, I have no time to waste with delusional fools who believe Google search makes them intellectually relevent.

The British government removed the brother of the grand father of the current king of England from the throne, does that mean the king of England works for the British prime minister ?

(Stop assuming you are talking to someone at your level, mathematician over here)

The British government removing a king in England? That's a sacrilege. The British government cannot forcefully remove any monarch from the throne. If that happens, that would be a coup. The British government, the armed forces and the British subjects all pledge allegiance to the King/Queen. The worst they could do is all officers of government resigns from his/her majesty's government, and the UK would be without a government.

In the example you gave Edward VIII was given there options; give up the idea of marrying Miss Simpson (an American divorcee); marry against the church and his ministers' wishes (but face resignationof the whole cabinet); or abdicate. He choose to abdicate.

The Prime minister works for the king in the UK. The reverse was the case here, kings/warrant chiefs worked for the officers of the British government.
