i want to engage someone so i quote you

marine is expensive i mean running it, it has limit to what it can carry
nigeria not building ship, so we go import(spoiling naira)

now this project is good, its too big but i wish they can do it

you remember umahi said 4 hours lagos to abuja na still same project ooo

listen, the Nigeria main road lagos to north is on road so no shortcut, that over one day lagos to north should not be up to one day if coastal

now lagos ogun island will link ondo straight to south south then to up north again with train

i think tinubu want legacy. i can imagine movement on lagos north in short distance food will be cheaper
Marine transportation is the most coat effective method of transport. Just Google cost per weight per distance. That is why it has the lion share of global trade.

In terms of cost outlay it is a significant step up from coach transport but it is way cheaper to own and operate than air transport which Nigerians invest in.

Moreover we have been building and assembling barges, houseboats, crew boats and tugboats for over 50 years. Coastal vehicles will not be a giant leap forward in capability.

But like I constantly say, the first benefit of marine transportation will be an economic one involving the effecient movement of goods.

Just three large barges can stop all the trucking between Lagos and the south on a daily basis at far lower cost and this will save the wear and tear in the highways, save a lot of fuel and lower the cost of doing business.

Well they say they are funding it so it may not be out of taxpayers pockets. But the proposal is to run it as a private enterprise to recoup their investment.

Here should come tye Legislature to ensure two things.

That the business plan has a human face. So they need to know the details before such proposals are approved.

Nigeria has a bad habit of allowing it's government to enter into all sorts of agreements with private concerns that end up biting us in the butt several years later. Mr Tinubu wil not be President forever. His enemy may rise and what becomes.of a defacto 'private' arrangement.

That is why in sane climes everyone (through the Legislature) is involved when issues around important and significant undertakings arise.

The second reason is that the Legislature will guarantee that the existing federal road network isn't abandoned and Nigerians are all railroaded into passing through Mr. Chagoury's road at unforseen cost.

If Nigerians don't talk this is exactly what will happen. As we have heard they are already planning to meet on a significant project we know very little about.

Typical wonky, underhand, clandestine governance. Tomorrow they will wake up totell us Nigeria is owing Chagoury 1 trillion dollars.

We know there is a relationship and understanding between Tinubu and the Chagoury brothers.

Business associates, kind of relationship.

Government seems not to take its citizens into consideration. Why can't federal government fix the already existing federal roads and forget about embarking on new projects that will not see the light of the day? Nearly all federal government roads are in worst conditions especially those in the Southern part eg. 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘾𝘼𝙇𝘼𝘽𝘼𝙍-𝙐𝙔𝙊, 𝙄𝙆𝙊𝙏 𝙀𝙆𝙋𝙀𝙉𝙀 𝙍𝙊𝘼𝘿, 𝙄𝙆𝙊𝙏 𝙀𝙆𝙋𝙀𝙉𝙀-𝙐𝙈𝙐𝘼𝙃𝙄𝘼 𝙍𝙊𝘼𝘿, 𝙄𝙆𝙊𝙏 𝙀𝙆𝙋𝙀𝙉𝙀-𝘼𝘽𝘼 𝙍𝙊𝘼𝘿, 𝘼𝘽𝘼𝙆-𝙄𝙆𝙊𝙏 𝘼𝘽𝘼𝙎𝙄, 𝙊𝙂𝙊𝙉𝙄, 𝙋𝙊𝙍𝙏 𝙃𝘼𝙍𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙍𝙏 𝙍𝙊𝘼𝘿. All this roads are no go area for road users. Even government want to toll all this road when fixed, I think it'll not be a bad idea provided the roads are okay for motorists.

Tinubu is not building new roads. Those roads already exist. The east west road is Jonathan/yaradua project and the calabar superhighway to north is buhari project. Tinubu just wants to put toll gate on these existing routes and earn money for himself through HITECH like he has been doing in Lagos. Yoruba people do not travel so they wouldn't understand that these roads already exist. It's only in Lagos lekki axis that I think he will do new road. The others are existing roads he wants to link up with and put toll gate. Very predictable selfish fool. But Yoruba folks expect we worship him for this daylight robbery. This is thesame strategy used in ripping Lagos state funds through alpha beta
hmm this is quite revealing, yet some 🧠 dead folks, want us to celebrate this criminal.

People like you are ignorant .
The Lagos Calabar coastal railway was conceptualized by NDDC for over a decade now and the design was completed ever since but lack of political will stalled the project .

For your information, HITECH Construction Company is owned by the Chagoury Group, founded by Lebanese/Nigerian man Gilbert Chagoury and his family.

you Yoruba folks are ignorant loudmouthed fools. Did you see me mention railway at all? East west road is what I mentioned. The article is talking about Lagos to calabar roads not Lagos to calabar railway. That one is what tinubu should do. But rather he is avoiding railway from Lagos to calabar because it doesn't exist yet. In the article, he only talks about linking the existing roads to railway terminals. Because you are a fool, let me educate you, previous governments have built railway terminals already in the south south. Tinubu your God is not doing anything new. Are you not tired of being fooled? Or are you deliberately a fool? Warri has a railway already through Benin to kogi and Abuja. Tinubu should build what doesn't exist not try to be clever by reawarding existing projects and just putting toll gate. He should build railway from Lagos to Calabar not road which already exist. The old road only needs maintenance. Travel from your Yoruba village to non Yoruba areas and gain some real life exposure

True that... Thanks for emphasizing this.

It is a shame that many of those who have relentlessly attacked this coastal road project on this NL thread are well-known male and female Ibo bigots.

There is a proven digital trail for over 13 years now on NL of deliberate thread derailments, hate speeches and misinformation by these toxic, morally deficient and hateful creeps among the Ibos. Then they turn around and act like they are the victims, despite being the first to attack and spread pure lies. The level of blackmail of other
Nigerian ethnicities by these irredentists and ethnic bigots is on record online and can be easily found via simple web searches going back to over 20 years ago on several secessionist and propaganda websites!

It's time for the government to take these deliberate online defamation and hate speeches seriously and get these morally bankrupt people punished!

I wish Sen. Dave Umeahi and his entire team success on the new integrated coastal road project and others to come.
The ranting of a castrated "obori". That is what you are.
Re: FG Awards Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway To Hitech by 2elliot: 12:29pm On Sep 26, 2023
Reference:
Absolutely true. Instead of crowding and ruining the roads with all the heavy duty trucks, coastal traffic can better be served by barges.

I was watching discovery channel sometime ago about transshipment of containers from one of the southern portts up the Mississippi river by a huge barge that carried up to a hundred box containers.

That is a hundred less semis on the highway seriously reducing incidents and prolonging the lifespan of the roads and of course reducing the cost of business.

These are the out of the box thinking, ideas that a communicative, interactive, argumentative, virile democracy spurs.

But our system of government is always constrained and restricted to the skills and competencies of one trick ponies.

As a policy statement government can direct that in the next two decades no heavy duty vehicle be permitted to ply Federal highways. That all states be linked by rail and all states bordering the Atlantic and up the Niger and Benue rivers be equiped with sea and river ports.
This is the kind of post I love to see and engage with. You are wise, brother.

Instead of Lagos to calabar coastal high way, why don't we support the Lagos to calabar marine door that is even more efficient and won't take up traffic from the already congested areas. Please o, people look at the map from Lagos to calabar, wouldn't sea travel be the best given the locations of both places. Hehehehe. Am I mad or is it these people who aren't sane

If the Marine door is well propagated, we can have Lagos to Connect Warri, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and then Cross River through the ocean route, totally cancelling out the need for super high way. Lagos doesn't have the stamina for everything to consistently be on the road. Are these people without brains ?

Unless it's an existing road route that's been extended, it leaves much to be understood. Cause seeing the road route, it's easy to say that roads should be in existence on the routes cited in the map
