Ethnic Character At A Glance - Yoruba Vs Hausa Vs Ibo by BabaRamota1980: 3:08pm On Sep 27, 2023 |
If you ask non-Yorubas in Nigeria and in other regions of Africa to tell you 10 things they know or have learnt about Yoruba, you will get different responses. When you filter through the list a particular duo character will have highest hit. This character is HOSPITALITY AND SPIRITUALITY. . Yorubas are very warm and welcoming, they adhere to principle of live and let live. If you conduct similar survey and ask non-Hausas in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa to tell 10 things they know or learnt about Hausa you will end up with various traits on the list. What will emerge is a defined trait of TRANSPARENCY AND RELIGIOUS CULTURE. Hausas are open, known to standby what they say, and they are intolerant of competition with Islam. Let's conduct exact similar survey to ask non-Ibos in Nigeria and other regions of Africa to submit input and list 10 things they know or have learnt about Ibo. The submissions will include different traits, but when filtered for a single or duo-character trait, WHAT WILL THEIR CONCLUSION BE? This is for non-Ibos in Nairaland to respond. Take a guess and submit what you think people are saying about Ibo across Nigeria and Africa. I will provide answer at a later date. Thanks in advance for participating. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Bunkum, the way the brain of apc fans are wired is mesmerizing, this is the topic they open in a bleeding economy where diesel is selling for N1000, manufacturers are manufacturing at high premium with unsold inventory of about N280b. Inflation and unemployment is at double digit. Yet their problem is igbo man that is busy sourcing forex for his next container. Tufiakwa, not even Cain was this vain against Abel 74 Likes 6 Shares |

Even in sleep, most of you still think about the Igboman. FYI, if the Igboman is a subject, Nigeria cannot understand it no matter how hard you try. Know this and stop giving yourself highBP 52 Likes 5 Shares |

Very unfortunate. Until this generation of Igbo Youths. Igbo were admired for their hard work and diligence. Most of us forget that Yoruba would rather employe Igbo and rent to them than their own Yoruba. All changed with these Youths. BloomingDale: 2 Likes |

BabaRamota1980: What's the meaning of this useless thread?? Btw, what is 'Ibo', you tribalistic id!ot? Is that how we spell it?? Do you remove the 'P' in 'psychology' when spelling it just because the 'P' doesn't make any sense in your own useless language When spelling 'Drogba', Igbobi, 'Agbero', 'Gbagada', etc, do you also remove the 'g' just because your heavy & clumsy tongue can't pronounce it together with the 'b' as 'gb'? It is an insult to alter people's name just because your language lacks the letters or sounds to accurately write/pronounce their names, and i believe this thing is being done intentionally in Nigeria by you tribalistic creatures. The nonsense need to stop. If you can't respect the owners by writing their names correctly as they do, then leave it and focus on your miserable lives! And this message is for all of you, irrespective of where you come from. 13 Likes 3 Shares |

Too clannish and money conscious would be my response.. The way Anambra man will behave to a fellow Igbo from Enugu or Ebonyi will leave you in shock not to talk of how they treat people from other tribes. Also, they can do anything for money. They have some good sides tho. 8 Likes 1 Share |

I am an ijaw man from Bayelsa state, Gbarain clan and Obunagha Community in particular. I have come in contact with several people from different ethnic groups, but the Igbos stand out for me. I love the igbos with everything in me. Though they have their own flaws(who doesn't?), but they are easily the most loveable people in Nigeria. They are very outspoken especially against injustice; they are fearless and courageous, industrious, trustworthy, law abiding, nation builders, business experts, e.t.c. I can't just help but love the igbos. I wish I was an Igbo and not an Ijaw. 22 Likes 4 Shares |

The way this Nigeria be, it seems other tribes are just left out. Nigeria is made up of Yorubas, Igbos... And then OTHERS. Na only Igbo and Yoruba matter for all Social media dey everly gain better Traction. Shay dem swear for us ni? That said, as someone from Anambra that has spent enough time in all places: 1. Yorubas: Nothing much that I haven't seen in other places, tbh. I maintain sha, that Lagos provides much more exposure for everything than any other place in Nigeria. 2. Igbos: same as no 1; Except the southeast is a little too homogeneous for my liking. Well, maybe cos I was born and raised in Lagos sha. In most schools, jobs, etc., it's mostly Igbos. This is me judging cos I was born and raised in Lagos. When there's a mass recruitment available, due to the high rate of unemployment, the indigenes ensure that it is only them that should get the job and not other states (not even SE neighbours). This was clearly observed during the Anambra Teachers' recruitment. I was disappointed, but I've since realised there are just no jobs and so they needed to get fixed somewhere. Tbh, it's not out of place judging it with an open mind. I'll also take the quality of food in the east over any other place. And then ease and availability of fruits. I maintain that the southeast has more quality Human Resources with a better capacity than all states in Nigeria. My only disappointment has always been that the Human Resources has not translated to making the SE a better place. If I brag that Anambra has more quality Human Resources than any other state in Nigeria, what's my proof? Big Houses, mansions, account balance? That's BULL in my opinion. Because there's nothing much in terms of real development in the state. As a state, creativity is low, innovation is low, etc. So much blaming, pointing fingers, etc. Who has it helped? No one. 3. Hausa: Just slightly too religious, but since it didn't affect me, I never had a problem with it. My problem was the market. The quality of things I found in Lagos and Onitsha, could not be found in the states I lived in the north (Yobe, Sokoto). I find the north much more peaceful than the east and the west. Yet, I find the north much more backward (wey never open eye wella) than other regions. When I say there's low creativity and innovation in Anambra, it is x5 worse in the north. In the matter of beef, hate, animosity, etc., I have found the bad blood in all the states I've lived in. I'm just too open-minded to worry about them - knowing that it's part of human nature. In terms of accommodating, I've found everywhere accommodating. When people say "we're more accommodating than you", it sounds so weird to me. I've never understood how the context is defined. It doesn't sound like an intelligent statement but a statement to spite. Like I said, open mindedness helps a lot. I have also found Lagos to have much more genuine Christians than everywhere, with a fresher perspective to the teachings of Christ. God bless Nigeria. Eventually, we might need to separate. And I'll gladly say aye to the separation. 2 Likes |
