Sen. Abdullahi Gumel, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) says the appointment of the new management team for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is to rejig the bank and make it alive to its responsibilities.

Gumel said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to him, the appointment of the team by President Bola Tinubu was part of efforts to rescue the country’s economy from its challenges.

“The CBN’s image was badly battered so, this team that has come on board is a rescue team,” Gumel said.

“They have come to rescue the image of the CBN.

“In fact, it is not only Nigerians that are waiting for the CBN’s new management to be up and running but the ECOWAS sub-region and the African Union (AU).

“They are waiting for Nigeria to get back the economy so that everybody will feel secure and happy.”

Gumel also lauded the Senate for confirming the appointment of Mr Olayemi Cardoso as the CBN Governor and his team on the first day of its plenary after recess.

“The screening was successful as robust questions bothering on the economy were asked.
“The lawmakers told the CBN governor and the deputy governors the feelings of Nigerians and what they talked to the team about is reflective of what Nigerians feel about the CBN,” he said.

Gumel expressed optimism that other appointees of the President would be screened and confirmed soon by the Senate.

This is why education is very important.

It was clear Nigeria was borrowing to pay subsidy.

The Twin duo, Buhari and Emefiele were terrible things that happened to Nigeria.

TUC were asking for the Billions saved on subsidy, friends, Nigeria was borrowing to pay subsidy. Nigeria borrowed such that, it had to borrow to pay its debtors.

Its not sustainable, and removing susbsidy didn’t free up more money, it only made sure we were able to pay debts without borrowing.

If you ask me, thats a good step.

The next step is reduce the cost of governance, impose heavy duty on imports and send corrupt people to the gallows.

Emefiele is such a terrible being. Thank God he is paying for his sins. He single handedly ran this country aground. CBN truly need new management team just to correct some of the Ill conceived policy of this man. I don't think Nigeria can recover from the maladministration of Buhari.

The last time I heard about it, the subsidy that was removed is back but most Nigerians know.

The other issue you raised was paying debt without borrowing. The other thing you said that got me laughing was “send corrupt people to the gallows”. As it is, aren’t the corrupt ones in positions of authority? Shey you want do like say you no sabi dem?

Can I tell you the truth? Once an administration isn’t sincere, even if they hire Soludu again as CBN governor there’s nothing much that he can do when he isn’t given the opportunity implement his ideas. I’m not expecting much incase they fail I’ll know my expectations weren’t cut off.

Where is the money your Tinubu and CBN borrowed to control the rise of dollar?
Maybe he used the money to pay judges that handled the court case between him, obi and atiku.

it's not to mentions any body. Buhari is a goat that should never be allowed close to government. Infact, any illeterate from the north should be rejected at all cost.

Since the Subsidy removal sir, how much your government don save? They can even give estimate or attest to the money saved.
