I'm currently in a very bad situation right now with a technician I trusted and relied on.

I met him on Nairaland many years ago and have fixed a few cars requiring minor fixes(legs) with him.

I handed over a client's car to him since January to fix a wiring issue that was draining battery and not making car to start.

For several months, it was all manner of stories and excuses I kept hearing.

I was in the hospital for a month and just straight from the hospital with my surgical stitches fresh on me, I had to get someone to drive me to him as he claimed car was ready for pick up only for me to get there and car wasn't starting and this man disappeared and wouldn't pick my calls all through my time at his workshop.

After over an hr of waiting, I left. Same thing repeated itself another day again. To cut a long story right now, I have suffered serious reputational damage with my client who owns the car as he has totally lost confidence in me.

As I speak, it's 9 months and nothing to show for it. The said technician doesn't even pick my calls when I call him, neither does he bother to return my calls.

I've been calling for over a week now and he completely ignores my call. I'm really at a loss to how to handle this.

In my many years of selling cars, nobody has tried this nonsense with me.

Not even road side mechanics. 9 fucking months and nothing to show for it. I've had several clients wanting to buy the car but have lost every opportunity to sell the said car as it's not been fixed for 9 months.

Pls, I'd really appreciate input from the house.

DM me i might have you speak with my tutor here at Hennepin tech where am currently schooling to walk you or someone you trust through the diagnostic system to identify what's wrong with your car.
Am back in school here in state purposely because of this same issues you just mentioned.
Am pretty sure it can be fixed but you might need to speak with him directly and discuss how much it will cost you for him to help you.

Wiring systems in vehicles are usually very tough for Nigerian mechanics to handle, pretty much time it's 2+2 they're aren't really sure.

He's workshop is actually in the airforce mechanic village and as such, I have to show some level of respect and decorum in handling the matter. I've reported to the assistant chairman of the base but nothing meaningful has come out of it. Still same flimsy excuses from day one.
I think I know where you are talking about. Is it the one at mangoro bus stop. There is a car wash infront where you drive in? if yes let's relate and see what can be done but its best you move your car oi of there because 9 months is too much and its not as if you're the one delaying self. Have you seen the car recently and don't let them know when you want to go pick the car up so you can see the present situation of the car and betterstill you might have to get the police involved and therefore would spend money on the matter

1. The fault is beyond the mechanic
2. Move your car to another repairer
3. you can only retrieve part of the money you gave him.

The earlier you move the car out the better for both of you.

I'm beginning to suspect he doesn't have the expertise to handle it and sincerely, I knew him as a range rover technician initially. He worked on a couple of them for me in the past before I took two Mercedes Benz to him to fix but it was just balloon and brakes and all that he fixed on them. I've never really had him work on a complex issue for me before. Maybe if I had, I probably would have guaged his level of expertise.

What's stopping you from moving the car to another mechanic? Or you just want to keep wailing? I can't give my stuff to any handy-man for more than a month without results.

Moved the care to a better mechanic and if you've given him money, just count your losses and move on.

Maybe na Rewire problem the car get self , not sure it’s a mechanic problem .

Get a good Rewire with a scanner to scan the car , the scanner will detect the fault , the Rewire will fix it and you will be good .

I had similar experience with one idiot mechanic few years back , i spent almost all the 200k loan on the car , he was just using my money to pay for his kids school fee that just resumed school.

Not knowing it was a Rewire problem , when i carry am go Rewire place I no spend reach 20k and d car did not develop fault for almost 2 years .

Car doesn't have a mechanical problem. It's a wiring problem. I was trying to avoid giving roadside mechanics the car to fix and that's how I asked them to tow it to him cos I thought he had the expertise to fix it.

Wait till 9 years. I have nothing to tell you now

It has taken so long cos after I gave him car, I've been in and out of the hospital until I finally had a procedure done that kept me in the hospital for a month. I've been given a 6 months recuperating period from the procedure. I've not been at my best physically and health wise since the beginning of the year. I'm only just beginning to get my physical levels up and walk better. All of these has impacted on my ability to effectively follow through on it.

Thing is almost everyone would claim they can fix it and they are specialists until you give them a car to fix and they start fumbling with it. It's why I was avoiding giving it to mechanics around me.

And he feels he will sleep well at night? Lie lie

His workshop is within the confines of a military base. They airforce actually operate and manage the entire mechanic Village. I guess that's why he has the temerity to do as he has done.

electrical problems in a car is not a joke, pls just tow the car away to another workshop,if it is yours I will advice you to sell it and have piece of mind, electrical can defy any attempts to repair,I just sold my Honda that stayed in the workshop from Nov last year to April this year, with more than #200k spent and every rewire within 50km radius running away from it,and yet the devil car refused to start,I just have to sell the fvcking car
