Armed bandits have invaded Funtua town, headquarters of Funtua local government area in Southern part of Katsina State, killing at least one person on Monday night.

The deceased victim, a member of the Funtua Local Government Council and Councillor representing Nasarawa Ward of Funtua LGA, Samaila Buhari Mairago, was said to be attacked at his residence in the Nasarawa quarters of the town.

It was not clear if the incident was a case of failed kidnap or robbery, however, multiple social media users confirmed the attack and the death of the legislator.

LEADERSHIP also gathered that the area has witnessed incessant bandit attacks in recent times.

I lived briefly in Funtua town several years ago while doing research in Katsina...!

A very peaceful and beautiful place.

It's sad how the entire North has been allowed to degenerate to this point all because of Politics.

The North that used to be a beautiful haven for the nation of Nigeria.

Jonathan did it and got results in weeks! There's no shame in asking for help when you are overwhelmed. Our armed forces have been thoroughly compromised and politicised with high level of corrupt practices. It's time to look for outside help and they need to do it fast..

I wish we could protests against ordinary bag of rice increases as we did with imole and the result will shock everyone, even the said rice night even sell for 15k or 10k per bag.
