This is exactly six after ebonyi airport was commissioned, but shockingly no Nigerian airline has agreed to venture into that route with commercial passengers. Checks revealed that ebonyi airport is an unviable route for airlines, that’s why no airline has tried to land there.

Ebonyi is a state with the poorest indigenes in the southern Nigeria. Poverty rate in ebonyi is over 80%.

Ebonyi has a comparative advantage in rice farming but there’s no major rice mill in the state .
Some analysts had proffered that the billions borrowed to build the airport would have been channeled into developing rice mills to create employment for the army of unemployed in ebonyi state.

Governor Dave Nweze Umahi got everything on infrastructure right except this Ebonyi International Airport white elephant project because an airport is not an economically feasible project for the state @ present.

We told them it's not viable and it's an elephant project. Ebonyi is very close to Enugu International Airport. Just like having a new airport at Suleja and you have Nnamdi Azikiwa international Airport in Abuja.

Though, even Suleja/Abuja scenario will see more traffic than Ebonyi. in short what Suleja will see in 2 weeks, Ebonyi will not see in a year.

Stop capping useless comments. The airport was built to show a particular Igbo state that Ebonyi can build an airport just like they did. Throughout Umahi stay as governor he sabotaged and openly attacked Anambra state. He built the airport out of emotional sentiment.

Did Umahi not know Ebonyi people are littered all over Nigerian state doing dehumanizing menial labor but he was more interested in measuring ddickks with Anambra which him and his deputy openly announced. How can a man be so useless.....Umahi might be a decent engineer but a failed administrator!
