An assist is a Key Pass that is successfully converted. A key pass is an important metric that measures the creativity of a player regardless of the outcome. |

He must have been substituted for tactical reasons. However, there were other substitutions. Unless you watched the match yiu can’t draw any conclusions as to what subs/tactics helped to earn them the 3 points. AndSunGorilla: |

Joebie:The coach made five changes and it paid off.If he loses fans would’ve questioned his substitution.Football is a team sport so anytime player is called upon, meaning he must give out his best…Nwakali and Pinho did well. |

Joebie:I think introduction of Abass changed the game cuz he gave Hector Hernandez more spaces to operate, with Pinho and Ribeiro covering the middle. |

This is the reason why I said Hector Hernandez is the best Chaves player irrespective stats from fotmob, sofascore and whoscored

"Irrespective of Stats" yet bringing up stats. He is a striker. His job is to score. Nwakali set him up for one of those goals with a sweet cornerkick delivery. Another weapon we lack in the Super Eagles which is set piece utilisation. Nwakali hasn't even bagged a goal in Portugal yet his stats ratings are as high as Hector whose ratings were boosted by his goals. That tells you the true picture. Nwakali is Chaves' Best player so far. Hector is just their goals getter and a good one too. At least, Nwakali now has a slightly better finisher in front of him and not the underpar strikers he had at Alcorcon, Huesca and Ponferradina. Kog45: |

Kog45: I have not watched lots of Napoli games to draw a conclusion who is the best. However, when I talked on Chaves, I have watched the team. Playing as a striker and taking shots does not mean best. Let us use Manchester City this season. I will point Rodri as our best player so far and then Julian Alvarez. This is purely based on eye test and how their contributions bring to an overall improvement of the team's performances. Julian Alvarez drops deep, puts in tackles, makes interceptions, does tidy passwork, presses, gives assists etc. Has a strong claim for the best player so far. While Rodri, defending work is super, makes tidy interceptions. He is the base of our offensive build up plays. He contributes a lot in getting the ball from the defensive section to the offensive section. His shooting contributions is also note. So it is not just about playing a position but overall contribution. Like in the last two games of Chaves, I rate Sanca as the best, due to his contribution. However, he needs to cut his selfishness because he leaves his team short when he is going for glory. I have not seen Hector in that light for Chaves. |

The coach made 2 MF changes on 59mins. Nwakali and Guima stepped out at the same time for the midfield shields/destroyers in Pinho and Ribeiro (who got a late red). It was a tactically influenced change to help Chaves protect their 2-2 scoreline and provide a base to go ahead through other changes made in Sousa (46mins), Cruz (46mins... didn't click until close to the hour mark) and Abass (73mins). AndSunGorilla:It was simply a tactical change. Drawing level meant the opposition was going to come at them to try to steal a win. So, he changed shape to get a more defensive positional setup and try to sucker punch a win with counters. |

@bolded... Sometimes you people overthink some scenarios and dont use that same overthinking to scenarios that need that. So you don't know that a coach can make changes to his team with a bigger tactical picture and goal in mind with respect to results? Nwakali was balling good but it doesn't stop a coach from changing things up from tactical POVs. Last season, Phil Foden was having a really good game vs Brighton yet Pep pulled him out on 51mins for Cole Palmer. How does that speak badly for Foden? Pep saw the need for a tactical change based on a specific detail irrespective of whether Foden was doing well. Also, a little more context, Foden was healthy going into HT and came out to keep playing in the Second half but there was suspicion of a slight drop in his intensity due to something maybe bothering him or he just went lax. Same applies here for Nwakali. The best bet is whatever it was, it is tactically influenced. AndSunGorilla: |

TheSuperNerd:Last time we had this discussion, you brought up statistics from fotmob and sofascore. This made me to go through the same sites to have details analysis on Napoli players and saw that Osimhen was not even in top four when it’s glaring that Osimhen is the best in Napoli. I went through Chaves rating too, then I brought it up for more broadening and attention of thegoodjoe. Hector has won 3 MOTM this season and now a leading scorer.Yes with Nwakali two assists just like Abass two assists. Accordingly today’s rating from fotmob, sofascore and whoscored Hector is the best Chaves player which you cited to back up your fact on Nwakali last time My main point is that stats is not conclusive on player performances.

Yes, I brought up stats from different sources to show you that you aren't being truthful. A MF who hasn't scored was already bagging better ratings than a striker who had scored by then. That tells you everything. And now the only reason Hector has a slightly better rating is due to his recent hattrick. Nwakali's ratings are still just as high. Unbiasedly, having watched Chaves this season, it is clear that Nwakali has way more influence on their plays than Hector. Kog45: |

A player who only made 2 accurate passes in 17mins changed the game? He bagged an assist but Cruz had more impact on the game than abass please. The point of the changes was for Chaves to protect the scoreline immediately they got back level and launch crosses in for Hector or strike when close to the box to pull ahead. Kog45: |

By Eye test and over 100 Stats parameters summarised and not on display on the popular stats sites. If not explain why Modric was best player in 2018 over dozens of strikers with better match ratings (thanks to goals) and better G/A. Kog45: |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 11:46am On Oct 08, 2023 |
Kog45, check this out. Let me give you one of many stats perspectives. Hector, a striker, has 7 goals in the league right. Plus he has missed 4 big chances. Well Kelechi Nwakali, a midfielder, has created 16 chances in that team in just 8 games. That is more than the total number of goals scored and Big Chances missed by Hector. Hector Goals+Big Chances missed = 11 Kelechi Chances Created/Key passes = 16 Now Hector has played 720 mins while Nwakali has played 550mins yet the above-stated is the case. The right balance of eye test and stats interpretations paints you the correct picture not limited to just Goals/Assists. |

That is untrue. You are doing your best to miss the point and twist the narrative. In Osimhen's case, I compiled the stats of how many points his goals won Napoli time and again. I dropped them on this thread time and again but as usual, you didn't pay attention since you have eyes only for Awoniyi Stats. Osimhen had more matchwinners than most. And he was clearly Napoli's best player with not just 26 goals and 24 big chances missed but also 34 key passes as a striker. Kvara has 54 key passes as Napoli's main creative force. Also, Osimhen was Golden Boot Winner and he clearly was the heart and soul of that Napoli attack. WE ALL SAW THAT including YOU. So why make such unrelated analogy? Funny. Kog45: |

TheGoodJoe:Thanks sir. So based on your response, are you insinuating that Nwakali isn't the right personnel to help his team adjust to a more defensive set up to help preserve a draw or a win? Also, does it mean he's not built for sucker punching with long accurate passes? |
