In a class room of 200 students, 50 Igbo, 60 yoruba, 90 Hausa, ... which language should the teacher use to teach? The language of the majority? How's that different from What we have now? Does speaking hausa instead of my local dialect, yoruba, mean that I'm secomd hand to them?
Add 10 Edo, 6 Ijaw, 8 Kalabari, 6 Anang, 10 Ebira, 4 Tangale, 6 Jukun etc

This means each tribe has to learn a second language.. But which one? If they learn hausa, then they become second citizens to hausa.. If they learn yoruba, same. Anang, same. It is inevitable. English or not, you'd still have to learn a foreign language--- language alien to your kinsmen.

Did Hausa colonize you in the past? Lols. If I adopt a language willingly to learn, that's my choice.

Did past Africans tell you they wanted a language called English in Africa? It was imposed and enforced on them by the colonial masters.

In fact, various evil psychological techniques were used by the colonial masters to break the spirit of the African people and enforce English on them.

Lols, this is a fallacy of false equivalence. Are Hausa people your colonial masters? Lols.

If I travel to Germany for schooling and adopt German to learn, that's my choice. And I'd use it as a secondary language and continue using Yoruba as my major language.

I wasn't forced or coerced to accept German unlike English that was enforced and imposed on Africans using inhumane means through colonialism.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 10:06pm On Oct 13, 2023
Millions of Nigerians speak and/or understand more than one language. That's fact. Wetin dey there to learn again. And if learning your mother tongue is a big deal to you, just leave it now. When the language dies, your people will die too.

A people (culture) without a language are a dead people. They'll bear the name of another people (culture).

All I know is Yoruba language will keep on growing and developing in leaps and bounds due to the effort of Isese people and others. If you no promote your language, and there are many such nonchalant people in your culture, the language and your culture will die sooner or later.

I think if you graduated before 30. You can come back to serve later. Not sure though.

Some scientists at NASA are building a system that has so many potential applications. If they develop it well, they can invent such a technology.

The laws of nature to apply for this are known already and they underlie a lot of other phenomena in nature.
If we can work on this solution we will sell to NASA and become billionaires. We will tell them Isese helped us with the solution and sell Isese to the world

Ororo is worth the budget of many west African countries. He is worth more than Nigeria's foreign reserves.

He has the money to fund his own private military. He is his own country.

Also, we the stans and associated faithful over here in the Ororo Appreciation Society are ready to rise up in holy jihad if anybody touch our Lord and Saviour - lashes for lashes, fatwa for fatwa.

Touch not our anointed and do our prophet no harm.

It's a very huge project. It's like trying to build the pyramids in Egypt. It'll take collaborative efforts of many, many people and for many years.

It's something Nigerians can actually do if we have a lot of highly intelligent people. The principles of nature required to build the system (I've mentioned it here before) are embedded in the native cultures, in those stories we call myths and fables in Isese and other cultures around.

But most people ignorantly detest things pertaining to their native culture. You can't detest or condemn Ifa or Ogun now and expect them to inspire you to build a system they've developed during their times on earth.

That system being developed by NASA had been designed by Ifa in the past era in the native language.

The math wey Ifa know when alive, if a person knows half or one quarter, it's enough for them to win a Nobel prize.

It's not an easy feat for many people to use one of Ifa's Inventions, a system he built, in establishing many towns in a region for many generations.

There's a specific field of math underlying all those villages and towns in Yorubaland. I don't want to go into too much details here.

If you have traveled to many states in Nigeria, you will realize that language is nothing but a means to communicate your thoughts. As long as your target audience understands you, the work of language is done.

If you think it is much more than this, start typing in Yoruba and see if any non Yoruba person here will bother to engage you.

You're just the typical ignorant African that can't think deeply and critically about key issues. No, language is not just a mere means to communicate your thoughts. It's much more.

It has a huge influence on a human and is used to program people's minds. Obviously, you don't even know that means or entails.

It's better to ignore some posts here. I don't even know where to start with you.

wether we like it or not, we need a unifying language. If you choose hausa to replace English, the onus is on you to explain to the igbo nd other tribes why hausa should be the universal language..

Everyone speaks their native language among their people as the primary mode of communication and uses English as a secondary language. Problem solved.

It's a model that works in many non-English-speaking countries around the world.

Anyway if you don't speak any of the three major languages in Nigeria, you can stop using your own native language and leave it to die. It's your choice.

Others won't make such a huge mistake and become extinct.

Nah. It’s the age you graduated that will be on your nysc portal. So if you’re not up to 30 when you graduated. You can come back later or take exemption later.

As a serving corps member, i can categorically confirm to you that NYSC uses age at graduation, not your current age.

As long as you graduated before the age of 30, you can register to serve anytime.

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2:
LordAdam16:
Palestine is derived from Ancient Greek "Palaistínē", which means "Philistia and the surrounding region".

The Latin derivative is Palestina which the Romans adopted as the name of the Province that ultimately encompassed the homeland of the Philistines and abutting areas including Judea, Samaria, and Galilee.

Under the Christian Byzantine Empire, the province was split into Palaestina Prima (Palaestina I) and Palaestina Secunda (Palaestina II).

-Lord
I am aware of all these. I am talking about the name Palestinian. Not Palestine.

The different peoples in Palestine were usually referred to by their real ethnicity as Arabs, Jews, Greeks, Samaritans, Idumean, etc not as Palestinians until fairly recently historically.

And until around 1948 many people applied it to both Arab and Jew alike. It didn’t have a separate ethnic identity but just meant someone native to or inhabiting Palestine. The people using it now are an Arabicized mix of different ethnicities who until the 20th century had a mainly Arab identity.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2:
Spy360:
I don't understand the bolded.

You need a yardstick to identify a people. So if anybody technically can answer Palestine then there is no issue.

The words in italics are important because those who claim to be Palestinians today don't fall into this group.
I don’t understand your question. And in what way do they not fall into the group that can use that name?
Like I said there were many non-Jewish people in the area that we now call Palestine; Arabs, Samaritans, Edomites (Idumeans), Arameans, Phoenicians, etc

If we are to go by historical claim (which is not going to happen anyway) the Jews do not have a claim to the whole of modern day Israel. The better way to do it is to share the land since both groups are already there now, but instead both groups appear to prefer to eliminate the other group from the land.
