Tola Odeyemi assumed office as the first female Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) on Monday. However, her appointment has faced opposition.

Odeyemi’s appointment followed the removal of Adeyemi Adepoju as NIPOST CEO by President Bola Tinubu the previous week.

On Monday, the agency’s staff protested against her appointment as CEO, expressing a preference for Adeyemi.

The staff closed the NIPOST head office in Abuja and denied her entry. In a viral video, she was seen addressing workers who claimed that Adeyemi had been reinstated.
