For short time investment,dollars is better but gold bars is for long time investment and it never loses value.
A friend once bought 15grams of gold bars at 100k in 2011.The bars are worth 900k now.
A gram currently sells for N64k.

That 100k if it was used to trade or import from China would have yielded better returns. Infact there are lands he could have bought back then and gotten better returns.
