We started playing better when Rice dropped to DM and Havertz took the 8 position. Havertz simply kept Enzo and Caicedo on lock which allowed the team to flow
While I agree Havertz helped but I think we played better due to Chelsea gifting us the first goal. It's always known that a 2 goal lead is a very very dangerous lead. Worse still was that we didn't even have to stress ourselves to score that first goal, they literally gave us.

Nothing can be more demoralising to a team that conceded in that manner and nothing can be more motivating to a team was gifted a goal in that manner. It's normal in football. It's just up to arsenal to ride with the wave because they(Chelsea) will be panicky and I'm grateful we obviously did

Wao! What a game earlier this evening.

Unbeaten still intact
I'm glad we drew the game ystdy cos omorr we could have easily have lost it But.....

I'm not too effused about this unbeaten ish. I mean, Man city have lost two matches yet we're still the same points just because we drew 3 matches.

It means 2 losses is equivalent to 3 draws.
Sometimes this unbeaten na scam!!

Hahh!!!!

We were also denied a clear penalty when Sanchez clashed on Jesus
Same mistake the mumu ref did in Man utd first game against wolves
That was obviously bad Tbh, the thing shock me as we weren't given that PK.

Omo I never see this kind pain before they really want to beat arsenal
Sanchez is their excuse but nobody for here blame Raya
This Raya sef, the guy dey give me palpitations wey I no even know say I get when Ramsdale dey keep.

The long passes wey dem ditch Ramsdale for, I no dey see am. His passing out from the back is always always jittery (he always seems panicky as if him deh learn the work). I can't even measure his saves to Ramsdale cos he hasn't really been tested so far(thanks to our standard back 4 so far)...

So how this Raya take better pass Ramsdale wey dem bench?. At least when Ramsdale bench Leno, the difference was clear

You know I started watching him Against man city after my last match against Everton where he started. And he was that bad in feet against Man city. In fact, almost all the balls he got accurately (to G.jesus mostly) was after we had scored. Before then he was a mistake waiting to happen.

I asked my arsenal friends how he fared against Tottenham and aside that wondersave, most of his passes were erratic too.

Yesterday's game he was erratic in passing too. I mean, goalkeepers makes mistakes sometimes passing from the back, but his own is just way too much panick. Ramsdale doesn't bring such vibes at all.

See the pass he gave to Chelsea ystdy, two players were rushing his intended target yet he still gives the pass. Haba!!!

Can we try Partey in that no8 cuz I'm okay with Rice playing that DM Position and moreover Partey have shot precision(at least the number of times I've seen him take shot they were accurate), nice spliting passes, some other offensive abilities.

What are your takes on this?

My take on this is that Rice should play the number 8 position while Partey plays Dm.

Now Rice can play DM while Partey can play that LCM but according their attributes where do you think each will be very effective in?
To me it's Partey in DM and Rice at LCM and here are my reasons

1. Rice is a good ball progressor of the ball more than Partey. Now I'm not saying Partey doesn't do so, but if you watch Rice, he does it frequently more than Partey even in that Dm position. And when I mean ball progressor, I don't mean forward passes. I mean carrying the ball and be running at a good distance before releasing it forward. And the good part is that Rice hardly loses possession when doing such.

2. Rice takes more Shots than Partey statistically and most of his shots are on target statistically. Yeah, Partey is good at shots but we need to know he only improved on it last season. I know prior to last season, I was always begging Partey not to take shots(the way Enzo is for Chelsea presently) cos he always dash the stadium the ball. But Rice Always have that effective shots for me even right from West ham and he's proven it here too.

3. The biggest of all is that Rice can find space in and around the 18 yard box. He's a very good space interpretor and he'll score a whole lot of goals than Partey if he eventually plays that role and Partey plays Dm.

4. Partey is a beast at DM. Press resistance, quick dribble, Quick release of passes for counter, nice and disguise passes both long and short. I don't want to talk about his defensive capabilities cos we all know that. I mean, to us, he's the best in DM. Why do we want to shift him away from there when Rice have all those abilities I just outlined to play further forward?
Just because of outside the box shots?

And Ohhh, did I tell you that Rice is very good in marking and stealing ball in opposition half just because he can read passes just before the opponents release it?

We have a big upgrade on Xhaka in our hands (something we've all been praying for). It's just for us to harness it and I'm sure no team will dominate our Midfield the way Chelsea did yesterday. If dem like make their coach read our tactics, the quality of all 3 (Partey, rice and Odegaard) will certainly shine through.

Like throughout man city and Chelsea, my mind is always pounding any time he gets the ball.

Unless he improves, I prefer Ramsdale to him anyday anytime oo. Even the passing from back, I know how I'm raving about Ramsdale's feet since he came here. With Raya, I expected something premium way more than Ramsdale, not this shaky shaky he's doing.

As for the penalty, while it's unfortunate for Saliba in that scenario (I mean his hand must be out if he needs to gain balance to jump well) but that doesn't mean his outstretched hand didn't deny a goal scoring opportunity. I would only disagree if the nodded ball was going off target (by projection) but if it's definitely on target then it's definitely a penalty.

Let's switch it, if it was Gabriel Jesus that was in Mudryk shoes, do you think it won't be unfair if thiago Silva uses his outstretched hand to stop a potential goal in the air and the reason given was that he needed to gain balance. Balance ontop our own goal kwa? How e take concern us? grin

And yeah, the ref understood he needed that hand to be stretched in order to nod the ball reason why he wasn't given a card(especially yellow). It's a known fact that any denial of any goal scoring opportunity attracts a card.

If Partey is not fit then the lineup below should suffice.

...........................................Rice...................................
......................Odegaard...........Trossard.....................
............... Saka..............Jesus........Martinelli..............

Jorginho was useless yesterday. It wasn't until Rice dropped back as DM after the removal of the clown that Arsenal had a foothold on the game.

I wanted you guys to destroy Chelsea.

Declan Rice’s goal v Chelsea came from 36.6 yards out 😯

It’s the longest range goal scored by an Arsenal player in the Premier League on record (since 2006/07)!

If you remember the Barca game , he (Trossard) was the best player on the pitch that day...even at Brighton when lined up as left winger he will always drift inside as 8 leaving Caicedo and Mac Allister as double pivot...

With this docile Jorginho against press and compact Chelsea? Anybody will struggle in No8. What's amazing is how Rice still showed himself even with two poor Midfielders.

If Odegaard and Jorginho was poor in the first half against Man city, tonight they were 5 times poorer. It's that bad

It was not the passes but the recipients. Most of our forwards are short. The few times he went long yesterday, we either miscontrolled the ball or the opponent won the duel.

My only issue is that even when he's playing well, you guys still find a way to make him the scapegoat and that's the only place I've been chooking mouth in. Last season, there were some matches he played well, even some of our fans acknowledged it

Lol... Most of his long passes were just inacurate. I can count how many of his passes that went directly to throw in or just won by Chelsea players. Even against Man city too, same thing. I can't even believe our players miscontrol cos I didn't see any tbh. And even if I didn't watch the match, I'll find it difficult to believe it cos all our players are very very good at ball control no matter the ball.

Ramsdale of 2021/2022 season (his debut season), he was a beast even in long passes. Last season first half, he was very very good in long passes too(I remember our loss against Man u 3-1, and how he beats Man u presses with up long passes that's accurate, Liverpool first leg too is another good example).

The reason I felt Raya would bench Ramsdale is because I thought he's just a tier below Ederson and Allison in passes but so far, he hasn't really justified in my eyes why Ramsdale should be benched.

Raya? I remember telling people to calm down and not to throw Ramsdale under the bus yet. Every GKs has their own lapses. His positioning for that second goal was poor especially when you consider the fact that he is short.

BTW, I hope this match have shown the fans the glaring differences between ESR, Vieira and Havertz.

0/10 for Arteta for the points lost. His player selection and substitution gave Chelsea a strange confidence.

January should come fast...we need some emergency transfer. Ivan Toney, and maybe another midfielder. Hopefully Timber comes back asap cos this Zinny no be am.

Lol...Arteta 0/10 for player selection and substitution?
This was our best 11 bar Jorginho and you criticized him for that?
His substitute in Trossard scored and Tomi tried. No credit for that?
Are you sure you aren't harsh with the rating? grin

Lol, na this match we wan use know difference between Havertz, ESR and Viera? Only one match shey? grin
Same ESR wey dey hardly see match this season but Havertz wey even don over see match dieeee. Haba na!!!

But I agree with on that January transfer. We really need a scoring striker. Jesus have shown time and again that he isn't ruthless enough (you saw that his free shot that nearly went to throw in). And we really need a deputy for Saka. Saka ought not to have played ystdy if we had a very good replacement for him

The Jorginho he started is exactly what destabilized the entire team yesterday. And bringing in ESR in that kind of game was a very bad idea. If he had gotten his selection right, we would be walking home with three points yesterday.

City (community shield), Crystal Palace, City (EPL) and Chelsea matches are the games that exactly differentiate what Havertz bring to the team compared to ESR and Vieira. I just dey laugh when some here will be complaining about Arteta playing Havertz ahead of Vieira and ESR. Man gives us that physical presence we so much lack in the final third which none of the other 8s can provide.

I go deh watch the accuracy again from now on and note am.

But it's really sad if only he tends to get accuracy when Havertz is on the pitch. If that's true, then his not really good the way he's touted to be.

You're twisting this thing bro.... Height!!!!! That's the point.

You can't be expecting him to be puffing the ball towards Jesus or Nketiah who are clearly shorter. His passes are not the main issue but the kind of goals he conceded.

Like I said it's only Jorginho that he started that has question mark. That was our best 11 bar Jorginho, so it's unfair to pin only Jorginho. When the lineup came out, nobody talked ill of the lineup and I'm not sure you saw it that way too.
Same Jorginho started against Man city, I didn't see you rate Arteta poorly for the starting selection after the match.

2. Isn't it surprising that the match you rated Havertz as influential (against Man city CC, crystal palace towards the end of the game and City EPL) are times in which he played as Cf? Same thing have been harping since beginning of preseason. He always always underwhelms in midfield (Nottingham forest, Fulham, Man u, crystal palace before we went one man down). This are match I watched and every single time he underwhelms in midfield

Anytime he does well, it's certainly when he plays CF and you want to use that to compare with ESR who just played his 2nd match in midfield this season from bench?

O wrong nau!! embarassed
