Happy that Gift Orban scored today off the bench. It's about time he hit form again. He even tried an audacious effort from half pitch. Over 35 yards.

I guess he's back.

Lol.... I am just glad he is getting his mental side of the game sorted and firing again.
I don't mind him pulling "crazy stats" to confuse Peseiro some more sef. Orban on form is one of the most lethal goals machines and best young attacking weapons we have in Europe.

Let him cause chaos

What a goal by Victor Boniface.

Missed a lot of chances, but redeemed himself in style

I'm glad Gift Orban scored, but will he make the AFCON squad over the likes of Boniface, Osimhen, Moffi, Senior man and Awoniyi?

There was commentary on him minutes before he scored to the effect of him having the highest xG in Europe over the likes of Erling Haaland! Imagine if Boniface was a little more clinical in front of goal. Which makes me believe he's a perfect CAM/support striker type of player than a #9, his ball playing skills are remarkable for a big guy.

Was so disgusted I stopped watching. Anytime you try to advocate for home based players this just shows you the true picture of things.

Honestly, its appalling..

There’s no way that he was a striker initially. The dude was probably a winger or attacking midfielder converted to a striker ala Thierry henry

He was an AM converted to a striker, that is why he should be a regular starter behind the main striker.

Barring any injuries, Nathan Tella surely has to be called up for the WCQ and AFCON squad, the boy is a proper baller and bleeds passion for Nigeria. I'll personally swear for Peseiro with Ayelala if he calls Musa over this kid.

speaking of Musa, does he even still play football at his club?

Bayern Leverkusen plays one of the most exciting football in Europe currently. Boniface having the highest expected goal is normal base on Leverkusen style of play. I've not seen a team this season that plays better than them

Most of the times, he'll miss the goal you will expect a striker to score easily.

I am happy you are keeping eyes on the lads. We know Umeh and Nnadi already but Samuel Akere (scored a brace) is still not known to most on this thread. Former U17 lad who also needs to be watched closely. Time will tell.

Yea Samuel is new to me

Great observation.
I believe he is still adapting to the pace of the bundesliga relative to where he'd been playing. At USG he was always given the ball to do his thing but the case is slightly different at Leverkusen where though he still receives regular service but the tactics is such that everyone plays.
I would love him to play at least two seasons under Alonso if possible so he could build on his confidence and sharpen his marksmanship.

With Schick back Boniface will have to grow quickly. He can't continue to miss easy chances.

Nevertheless, his versatility is an added advantage.
Boni reminds me of young Benzema/Lewa. Skillful strikers that do miss lot of chances but were able to perfect their games due to regular playing time.

Unfortunately, Boni might not get that chance cos of Schick. Therefore, he has to start putting away at least one of two chances!

I am watching him right now against Lukaku (Roma). I don't like comparing players or rating players based on the club they're playing for, but I think Ogbu should be a starter in SE.
Don't forget that Bassey and some of our players were born in Europe, but these guys made it from Africa against many odds.

While you're right on the explosive attacking football Leverkusen play, it's not as simple as limiting Boniface's xG to how Bayer Leverkusen play, it's been acknowledged that he (Boniface) is very pivotal to how they play, unlike your traditional #9 poacher who lurks in the opponents 18 yard box and waits for the balls to be played to him, Boniface actually drops into midfield and help bring his team mates into play (which confirms his assists numbers as well). Bayer Leverkusen play exciting football that allows for high chance creations without a doubt, but take nothing away from Bonifaces individual quality and contributions.

We don't do emotions here. Do you want him to start because he is good or because he was bred in Nigeria?

Responsive and responsible governance, financial prudence and accountability, independence of the judiciary and the legislative. In climes where these are commonplace you see sports infrastructure everywhere.
It's a given that we already have the talent , just the enabling environment needed.
