There are many lies people are branding around about Church weddings that need to be corrected as they have led lots of youth and singles astray, making many incur heavy debts that take years to pay after the wedding guests have left.

Here are 13 lies you must not believe about church weddings.

1) IT MUST BE LOUD AND EXPENSIVE

It need not be loud and expensive. You can do it in a very low way and save yourself from unnecessary spending.

2) IT MUST BE ON Saturdays

Not at all, it can be on any day of the week history has it that the original day for the wedding was Thursday, that is why a day before it was named Wednesday. Wed-the-next-day.

3) IT MUST BE IN A CHURCH
No, a church wedding can take place in a Pastor's office or any other hall, where the groom, bride, Pastor, and their families are present.it’s not compulsory to be in the church auditorium

4) THERE MUST BE RECEPTION
Reception is good but it’s not compulsory.

5) THERE MUST BE BRIDAL TRAIN
It’s not bridal training that makes Marriage work but bridal training. Bridal train adds glamour to the wedding but they don’t determine the success of marriage.

6) THERE MUST BE CAKE
Cake is not a compulsion if you don’t have money to bake one, that does not determine the success of your marriage

7) THERE MUST BE WEDDING RING
The wedding ring is just a sign that you are married, you should be joined with a Bible in a Church, then bless your ring and use it.

8: THERE MUST BE WHITE WEDDING GOWN
you can wear a native dress for your Church wedding, it need not be a wedding gown

9) BRIDES THAT WEAR ANY OTHER COLOR OF WEDDING GOWN IS NOT PURE:
That is not true, you can determine the color of the gown you want.

10) THERE MUST BE BRIDAL SHOWER
A bridal shower is a Hollywood creation not part of the Church wedding at all, so don’t go into debt because of that

11) THERE MUST BE PRE WEDDING PHOTOSHOOT
This is good but it is not compulsory, don’t go into debt because of this.

12) WEDDING GOWN CAN’T BE BORROWED

We have many bridal shops that are renting out wedding gowns nowadays, this saves money and time, it’s not bad it’s encouraged since the gown is just for a day, so why not rent one?

13) YOU CAN BE PREGNANT AND GO FOR CHURCH WEDDING!

In every gospel and real Bible-preaching church, this is not allowed. I contest point 13 about pregnancy. The Bible you are referring to didn't speak about wedding at all. The Bible infact endorses marriage o the account of premarital sex between people.
In the event of Mary and Joseph, when were the two married? Before the birth of Christ or after?

These are all western culture and not scriptural

When did anybody make it a law, mandatory, or a must to do all these things for white wedding

Mary and Joseph got married before the birth of Jesus, comparing Joseph and Mary's situation to that of today where couples commit fornication and quickly get married is funny, was Joseph responsible for the pregnancy of Jesus?

The beautiful thing about weddings is that preferences differs, what you feel is a waste of resources to you is actually a thing of joy to others willing to spend a lot for their wedding, very simple.

The point I was making Is they went ahead with the wedding while marry was pregnant. I don't care by who. Joseph didn't go about explaining to everyone that he's not responsible for the pregnancy. He owned it.

Nigeria is not the basis because all I see here is casting negative aspersions on white wedding,

By law traditional wedding is not recognised in any society without a court certificate, it ends within the family, White wedding is recognised in church which goes along with a court certificate, in other words, you are not the judge and jury of the type of wedding people choose for themselves.

He did not own it, people already knew Mary was pregnant, he married her to cover the shame, and since then Jesus and his parents made it a point of duty to tell people how his conception came about even though no one believed them.

I still wonder why people put up large sum of money for a wasteful event as white wedding, what happen to our traditional module?
