There was a time you come to nairaland and you are sure of reading authentic news, how does the power of the president to appoint Inec chairman, efcc, chief of army etc becomes abuse of office. Whether it is English language that is the problem. The appointment to the Supreme Court can only be done by the president, the dumb writer says its the CJN.

Clearly it shows how easy it was to Fool the obedient, they refuse to be educated and social media has really aggravated their foolishness
Since media has been moving from paper print to online, alot of media houses now write sensational and stupid headlines to attract the very dumb ones. This news has been around since last night and Obidients have been abusing The CJN as corrupt on twitter since the news broke grin

Foolish sensational headlines.

I don't know why losers keep grasping at straws with sensational headlines, that has nothing to do with the content.

How does stating that the office of a CJN has powers he considers should be subdued, become an abuse of power when the function is legitimate and the extant law?

All the Justices including the CJN himself were at this farewell dinner.

Wasiu go and read the body of the post and stop this Lamentations

But that is the extant law.

The current CJN did not put it up.

There is nothing wrong with the 2nd most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, who happen to be retiring, to make valuable recommendations on how the legal system can better operate.

The Tinubu regime and the Legal stakeholders can look into such now, not before the conclusion of the election petition when anarchist can always claim all manner of rubbish.

Just imagined that the greatest lamentation beside the valuable recommendations made by the retired Justice is about salary.

Imagine the Tinubu regime came to their rescue in June or August, would the news media and the like s of Hundeyin the anarchists, not have regaled us about the corrupt allowance and unmerited salary increment granted to the Justices to buy their loyalty to favour Tinubu and APC?
That's exactly what would have happened.

The headline is sensational and he was only giving a general assessment of the state of the Supreme Cour over his years on the bench. Never did he accuse the current CJN of being the culprit.
I won't be surprised if he later issues a disclaimer that his words have been twisted

Each geopolitical zone should have 3 slots in the Supreme Court, and the CJN reluctantly refused to fill-up the slots of South East region, (not even one person).. I know he had no plans whatsoever to fill it because they are all dancing the music of nepotism & tribalism. All thanks to the retired JSC for exposing his ass for failing to do what he's meant to do as a CJN..

I know you especially.

Imagine the current CJN replaced the one that died in 2021 or Justice Nweze that died in July?

Just Imagine the propaganda you would have regaled us with about Tinubu and his Yoruba CJN choosing an Igbo Justice that will do their bidding.

Guess what, Tinubu still won the case.

And those Justices would now be replaced without all the propaganda you and your fellow anarchists would have regaled us with.

Honestly, many do not realise that their continued support for those anarchists and their destructive propaganda, is only delaying the progress of this nation.

Imagine Hundeyin lamenting that the Tinubu regime was paying the Army very well to avoid coup.

So the welfare of government employees should not be a given in a responsible democracy?

The Western nations he is hoping to migrate to as a refugee, also pay the military well just to avoid coup?

We in South East are used to it

There was a time South East had zero AIG of police.... They had to promote a CP to DIG because South East must have DIG by law

Frank Mba is DIG while his mates are CP lol u know why ? Lmao

Same people that produce most graduates yearly when it comes to government agencies fail to be promoted

South East is also the only region that has not been geographically surveyed..... No body knows the resources in South East

Crude and gas gush out of the ground in Enugu n Ebonyi they are ignored while billions is spent looking for oil in the North

It's in the country that for years Anambra oil was drilled and the 13% given to Delta for years till it was exposed

In an attempt to hold the Igbo nation down Nigeria has also held herself even more down

Frank Mba was an AIG before his promotion to DIG.

Lol Igbos don't even know the better half of how bad deep-seated tribalism has eaten deep into the sinews and fabric of Nigeria, so much so that they've introduced their satanic tribalism into the only one thing that unites us together- FOOTBALL. I was speaking to a top footballer who played for the Super Eagles for some years and had a meritorious career (now retired) and the things he told me about how elements in the NFF and sports ministry have been forcing quota system politics into team selection shocked me, essentially as a manager you MUST pick certain players who know highly placed persons in politics or risk getting fired...3 OTHER CURRENT PLAYERS OF THE NATIONAL TEAM have confirmed the same thing, it's so bad now that players form bonds in camp during international duties based on their ethnic affiliations.

We need to break this country and just go our seperate ways, the incompatibility is just as dangerous as sitting on a keg of gunpowder.

Justice Nweze died in 2023.

You are referring to the previous Igbo Justice that died in 2021.

That one is a question for Buhari and the previous CJN.

“As presently structured, the CJN is Chairman of the NJC which oversees both the appointment and discipline of judges, he is equally Chair of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC), the National Judicial Institute (NJI), the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) that appoints Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

“In my considered opinion, the oversight functions of these bodies should not rest on an individual alone. A person with absolute powers, it is said, corrupts easily and absolutely"

Where did he specifically mention that CJN abuses his power? He was referring to the structure of the Judiciary System as constituted, not the person of the CJN.

The unfortunate thing is that the OP- altered the Retiring Justice statements to drive his ill- motive clout chasing.
That apart, why is it when people are retiring that you see them pointing out the errors in a system?
Are they always afraid to say the truth of their minds while in the Services?
But interestingly, our Lord Justices at the Apex have not been able to give directives to other Lower Courts- Federal, States, National Industrial Courts- to expedite quick actions on thousands of Cases langushing in those Courts - as they do to Political and Politicians in Nigeria!
Can we now say we have equal and Speedy Justices to ALL Nigerians- who are commoners ?
