arcbaba:This is beside the provision for haulage of goods across great distances at a fraction of the normal cost with relative ease as compared to road. As ineffective as the rails are currently, much more can be gained from the system over the long run IF, its run efficiently. |

benardtotti:He said he doesn't have the full details of it, you who claimed to, instead of availing him of it, you are promising to come back and gloat in 5-7 years. So much for not being ignorant. |

mrvitalis:No it is not. As I tried to explain and you appear to struggle to understand infrastructure is key to wealth distribution. You cannot address poverty by saving money. It may work in Anambra but it cannot work in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos, PH or Kaduna. If uou don't implement infrastructure then your investments in industries are economically marooned by high cost of raw material and cost to market. You are also marooned for talent. No closed system can prosper no matter how hard it saves. |

mrvitalis:Lol if you busy is your thing then you will understand that getting loans in Nigeria is only hard for small businesses and not the big businesses. From the cbn to banks have all their loans tailored to favor big businesses trust me I know. I was with a retired nnpc operational manager last when his bank was telling him he is overdue for a loan because of his fund with them, he told them he doesn't need it. Cbn also a lot of loan in place, you as a small business owner won't fit into the plan. And for the other part yes the railways will take care of what I mentioned. You said they are not complaining, do you know the cost diesel and the amount to rent a truck for that long distance not to mention the numerous ticket and sorting of agberos on the road before the goods gets to it destination. The current railway are still underutilized, it is meant for passengers alone though I doubt if the carts for goods are in the country for now. Well if you are saying borrowing for everything single we want to do is bad, I agree with you. |

aQUINandmore:I want to believe he specifically asked about Abuja to Kaduna route. 1. Abuja to Kaduna never had a congestion issue, it was basically a bad road issue so this point doesn't really fly. Besides, it is a passenger train so the goods part is somewhat hazy. 2. For now, this doesn't really count aside being able to meet up with appointments in Abuja or Kaduna on time, nothing with regards to PRODUCTivity as you say it because the supply chains you are talking about is none existent since it is still a passenger train. 3. Job creation, i will agree with this no matter how small compared to the investment on it. 4 and 5. Doesn't hold water since it is still a passenger train, when it starts moving goods like trailers and tankers do, then we can agree to this (Note: it is 5 years already). We need to build on the goods part so this benefit can manifest. 6. Traveling via road is still cheaper, both before subsidy removal and after, i chose the train because the comfort is levels far above road transport. |

mrvitalis:I disagree in all entirety. In as much as the pharmaceutical industry seems viable, I believe the rail is more viable. Nigeria just have to look at the business side of things. The minister can invite major transporters like Ekeson, Chisco, Bonny way , ABC transport etc into the railway to privatize it. These experienced transporters should be allowed to own their trains and manage it. The Ministry should only set standard and regulation and provide infrastructure for rail transport. This private transporters should pay the government a contractual fee. With this the government can recoup its investment in projected time |

luizpippo:It is not for me to enlighten him , if he truly was interested in critical analysis he would have availed himself of all the necessary details about the rail project before coming here to completely discredit the project , it will be a waste of time for me t0 start educating him now , the honest truth is he already has a bias on his opinion and me trying to enlighten him won't change his narrative ,that's why I said few years from now when the statistics on what the railway has achieved is active then I will remind him . |

Blakjewelry:Let me just ignore your loans issue because there is no point Do you think rail transport would be cheaper than diesel transportation? Lmao in what planet does that happen? How much is Lagos Ibadan rail even though it's heavily subsidized it's still far more expensive than bus Left to run without subsidies it would he as expensive as plane |

mrvitalis:Government is not about profit maximization but creating an enabling environment, social amenities to increasing the standard of living of the masses. Aside the Nigerian corrupt practices, let's assume it is for profit, 70% of the masses won't afford it . |

After reading comments on the 1st page, begin to question the sanity of Nairaland user. They are eager to comment on any new updates with make use of the best part of their brain. E-Ticketing that we have been using for the past 4 years is what they are launching? Even The new design looks like what a small budget application, full of bugs and sure the source code will be terrible. |

mrvitalis:I do respect people's opinion;but never have I seen an argument so dumb... Chai You need to read up on the essence of transportation to the economy. We are not making progress today as a nation because we are not harnessing and putting that sector into good use This is not about apc or pdp. Chai Chai.. I'm surprised this is typed by a supposed educated person. Chai |

Yemmysworld91:Lmaooo bros train is good yes but borrowing to build train that can't repay the loans when your debt servicing is already 105% is foolishness They are feel. Good projects not economically viable |

mrvitalis:You should have presented the point this way and not the way you initially posted it... Apologies for calling your argument dumb but I was just pissed. Governments from the military before Buhari near shambolic administration ought to have find a way to ensure the efficiency of the railway but unfortunately they didn't. Bad has borrowing to build it may be, but in the long run I think we can enjoy the benefits especially in the carriage of products around the country. Shalom |

wee you kip kwayet. The profit from building trains is more than the direct profit but it is cumulative as people can now move around and do business and that’s more taxes for the government. Learn to think comprehensive bro. This 2 by 4 shop thinking no be how dem Dey build country oooo
