Sometimes just because a player is doing well in club competition doesn't necessarily mean it will automatically translate into the national team.

Yes club form is a major determinant for getting into a national team squad but your overall performance for your country will always count for you good or bad.

National teams all over the world stick to tried trusted players irrespective of their current club form and level of competition.

If we become too dogmatic to how players are invited then there's a chance you might miss out on diamonds in the rough. Sunday Mba and Oboabona come to mind. Heck we even took a clubless Mikel Obi to the 2006 AFCON.

Nobody is saying standards shouldn't be maintained but there should be exceptions to the rule especially when it's obvious a player is talented.

komekn:

So essentially you will pick a not in form player over high scoring outstanding player in higher league and club.

The basis of national team selection is consistent outstanding top performances for club and league in the HERE and NOW.

Not đŸš« past recent glories in the national team.

Teams improve because they pick the most outstanding consistent top 🔝 performing players CURRENTLY.

I will NEVER pick KC over BONIFACE.

You can already rate him after 2 caps.

Kog45:
I love rating our players with super eagles performance but hope Peseiro brings the best in them

Success is essentially a CF for 2 seasons now.

DABIGATRAN:
Plays as a winger. Has high work rate.

But he’s had only one start. I see where you are going. But what’s KC’s record in a tournament proper? grin

I think he was listed as attacking midfielder left/right and forward but as CF with 2 goals in the last two seasons and still getting games? what do you think

My point is,Iheanacho against São Tomé had wonderful assist and against Saudi he scored a lovely goal but Kokmne said he is basking in past glories and comparisons with Boniface should not arise based on the league but here am talking about super eagles.

These are his positions for the current season and previous according to transfermarkrt. Confirming on SofaScore he has largely played as one of the CFs in a two prong attack.

Haha I no know where this convo start. KC has a good SE record and Boniface has started will with SE.

Let me add that I expect Boniface to do better in a tournament proper.

God bless your hustle bro. Only advice I can give is to make your routine stand out as much as possible from other performers. Also make your content relatable not just to local Nigerian audiences but international spectators as well. Watch guys like Trevor Noah and our own Alibaba for ideas and tips.

Thanks a lot boss. That's exactly what I'm working on, and it's been good so far.
Really appreciate the advice sir đŸ˜Œâ€ïžđŸ’Ż

From now on, players playing in Africa will be able to take part in the CHAN competition and not only for those who play in their local leagues. 🌍✹

I love this idea. đŸ™ŒđŸŒ

With the quality players we currently have, Isaac Success shouldn’t even be in discussion at all.

Anyone who has been following Isaac’s career trajectory for more than 3 seasons now will know that he has not been at his best at all. I don’t think he has ever been since his days at Watford.

I thought he was going to become what Osimhen became. Unfortunately, life had other plans. It’s either he is injured on not in form.

Whether he will perform in the GWG shirt is what I don’t know. But based on his performance at the club level, we shouldn’t be thinking of him at all. He’s too injury prone and inconsistent to rely on.

They cannot give up their Austrian citizenship to play for Nigeria. Next is Chukwuemeka of Chelsea

Oga I don drop the mic
.but are you saying Iheanacho getting into the team on past glories but I thought championship players are good enough

A player who is in a team thats top of the Bundesliga and he the 6th highest goal đŸ„… scorer in the Bundesliga.

KC is in a lesser club and league and is in crowd of 10 players that have all scored 5 goals he is 10th.

There is no comparison.

Not sure what you mean by talented and ability is always by comparison not isolation.

If you have an outstanding consistent top quality player in the league and it cannot be translated to success. Then there immediately becomes questions about the team management and coach not just the player.

Imagine having Harry Kane and or Lewondoski and they don't score for several games in the national team. You will look more at the team management and coach as opposed to just the player.

The issue of TALENT as you put it, Ishihara not obviously apparent that Boniface is not just talented but consistently outstanding.

Who is therefore more talented and deserving of a national team call đŸ€™đŸż up ❓

Danielnino00:

Here we go!
Voting of Members of the Nomination Committee
Gentlemen and ladies of the thread, it is time for us to vote for those who will stand as representatives of this thread and partake in the selection of award categories and award nominees.
This year, the nomination committee will be made up of at least 7 members: myself, icon4s who pioneered the award will continue as an honorary member of the committee and at least 5 monikers from this thread.
Every member of this thread is eligible to vote and be voted for. But let's keep in mind that this isn't a popularity contest. Vote for those you believe have the knowledge and passion for Nigerian football.
Here's the rule for voting:
1) You're to vote for 5 monikers from this thread to join the committee;
2) Vote the monikers in order of preference, from top to bottom;
3) Points will be awarded to each moniker you vote for. Your first nominee gets 5 point, the second gets 4 points, the third gets 3 points, fourth gets 2 points and fifth gets 1 point.
4) At the end of the voting process, the five monikers with the most points will join the committee;
5) In the event that two or more monikers are tied on points, they will all be added to the committee, as the goal is to have as many monikers to contribute to the process.
6) You're allowed to nominate yourself 😉

Voting closes on Wednesday, November 8th 2023, 10pm Nigerian time.

Thank you.

Tbaba1234, if active, would be my first pick after TheGoodJoe.

Icon4s and Danielnino00 are already in so that means....

1. TheGoodJoe
2. Joebie
3. BascoVanVeli
4. Kog45
5. Charlesemeka85/Chriskels

Ejoor leave my number 5 like that. 😁😁

Kudos Danielnino00. I understand voting for the committe members closes tomorrow. Should have dropped mine earlier but have even quite occupied.

Cheers.

What year is our lineup going to look like this ?

Must it always be foreign base players ?

Look at the Brazilian national team at each position there’s least one home base player

This reduces complacency and pride
Because with a poor showing anyone can be dropped
